Gathering the ingredients, Elisa balanced them on a chopping board in her hands. When she had to pick the Tomatoes, she took a bit of time to judge them on their size, eventually deciding on 5 smaller tomatoes.

When she got back to her bench she smiled over at Euphemia, nonverbally complimenting her organisation. (@Lotharingia)

Watching approvingly as each girl came up and took their ingredients back to their stations, she noticed that Aedes hadn't grabbed the correct number of tomatoes. Picking out three more, larger tomatoes, Celeste walked over and placed the tomatoes on her workstation.

"Put the phone away, Aedes, we are starting soon," Celeste said, "And here are three more tomatoes, your recipe calls for four or five, not one.," she explained, knowing full well the girl hadn't been paying attention.

Celeste then decided to check out each student's workstation, making sure each of them had what they needed. As she moved between stations, Celeste complimented Euphemia's organization, Elisa's choice of tomatoes and Amber's readiness to begin.

"Alright, let's get started..." Celeste said as she moved to her own station, "First, we need to peel the squash, then cut everything up into bite-sized pieces." she explained. "Oh, and it's best to use this knife here," she said holding up a large paring knife for the class to see.

"Any questions?" she asked the room as she gazed from each student to the next, wanting to make sure everyone was okay and understood what needed to be done.

Euphemia nodded in response to Elisa. Even if things were still a little awkward between them, she was at least glad to have someone familiar sharing a class with her. She kept quiet though, aside from a quick thanks to the teacher, not wanting to interrupt the class by talking.

After Celeste explained what to do, she picked up the knife at her own workstation. This she felt she could probably handle. She had plenty of experience using swords, knives seemed like they should be simple enough.

She got to work, placing the ingredients on the chopping board, holding them in place as she started to cut them up. She worked fast, the knife flashing in her hands and clacking against the wood, it didn't take her long until she was finished.

The ingredients were cut finely...very finely, almost too finely, the vegetables looking almost paper thin. Euphemia didn't seem to think there was an issue, however. She separated them all into little piles and continued to await further instructions.

Euphemia was one of the first to finish chopping up her vegetables, which caused Celeste to raise an eyebrow in surprise, especially when she noticed how finely chopped, they were. The vegetables looked like they were paper thin. A concerned by this little development, Celeste just smiled at Euphemia thinking she would need to seriously adjust the cooking time.

She was glad that Euphemia had responded, even if it was weird between them. Hearing the Teacher compliment her tomatoes, though, she was pulled out of her daydream

Elisa was slow with the cutting, though she quickly peeled the squash fairly easily. Chopping up and down, her cuts were irregular and angled, so while it would cook normally, the shapes were not exactly the same.

Glancing at other benches, she went to check that her knifework was alright. Euphemia was surprising, as each slice was nearly transparent, they were that thin. Did Elisa misunderstand?

"Understood!" chirped Amber. After watching Celest show off the proper technique of holding a knife, she takes the peel and stripes the squash of its skin. Once the squash was ready, she sets it aside and gets to work on dicing in the form that Celeste demonstrated earlier, if a bit more slowly and cautiously. When finished, she sets aside each of bite size vegetable pieces into their little neat piles on the cutting board.

——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Aedes rolls her eyes and lets out a huff but does as the teacher instructed and puts away her phone for the time being. She only half pays attention as the teacher demonstrates the proper use of the knife as she takes the peeler to the squash. Once the squash was without its skin, she moves on to cutting the vegetables... poorly. If anyone watching they would be alarmed how dangerously close her fingers are to the edge of the blade.

Celeste watched carefully as each student cut up their vegetables, stopping by each station just to make sure, and almost had a small heart attack when she saw Aedes and the way she was holding her knife.

'Uhm.. Aedes, please be careful," Celeste started as she quickly approached the girl, and gently grabbed the knife from her hands.

"Hold it, like this," she told her patiently, holding the knife correctly and showing her how to do it so she wouldn't cut herself. "If you hold it like this..." Celeste showed her how she had it before, "You could cut a finger, or your hand," she explained as she set the knife down on her cutting board.

Uggghhh.... Aedes hated it it when Celeste baby her like this. Every time Celeste tried to help her, she couldn't help but see it as criticism against her.

"Hey I was cutting it just fine. I still have all my digits so I wasn't doing anything wrong. But fine... I do it your way." bemoaned Aedes, whom takes the knife and cuts as Celeste instructed... even if she personality found to be a bit... unnatural to how she was used to holding the knife.

Once Celeste moves away, she whispers "bitch" under her breath and finishes up cutting.

Amber frowned as Aedes once again started complaining but at least she seems to be following the example set by the teacher... for now at least.

"So uhh... what is next Miss Celeste?" piped up Amber once she had finished checking in on the other students. She was ready to get cooking!

Celeste heard Aedes call her a bitch behind her back, The word made her flinch inwardly, she really hated the word, especially when it came from someone as young as Aedes. It also made her want to berate the young girl. However, instead of acting on impulse, Celeste just held her tongue and walked away ignoring her. Truthfully, she was at the point of just letting her be. If she wanted to cut off a finger or burn herself, so be it, she thought as she moved to the front of the class.

"Okay, now we move on to cooking." Celeste said looking at each girl, even Aedes, and smiling, "Put two tablespoons of olive oil in your pans, turn on the heat on high, wait a minute for the pan to get hot. Then add the onions and peppers first, turn the heat down a bit, and cook for 5 minutes... " she instructed with a nod to Amber, thankful for her enthusiasm.

"Oh, Euphemia, please added all your ingredients together at once, everything is cut so finely that they will cook very fast."

Euphemia watched the little spat between student and teacher with an impassive gaze. She didn't show any sign of it, but she thought it was very odd. None of the other students seemed to have any issues with Celeste, and from what she could tell she could find no reason why anyone would.

She stops her pondering once Celeste started explaining what to do next. Euphemia tilted her head, confused at being singled out. It was around now she realised she may have misunderstood the initial instructions. Frowning to herself, she followed along as directed, heating the pan and methodically scooping each pile of ingredients inside, one at a time.

She found herself, she realised, with very little to do now that the ingredients were cooking. She decided that she shouldn't waste this time. Rather than wait, she leaned over from her workstation, towards where Aedes was sitting, and quietly whispered.

"Excuse me," She said, politely. "I do not wish to pry, but I am curious. Is there a particular reason for your hostility towards Ms Forestier?"
