The monday after. All the weekend’s events seemed to be nothing more than a cloudy haze over the teacher’s head. Now that he was back and teaching before finals, his schedule was becoming crowded with classes, private tutoring sessions, and taking bits away from his own time to help those who didn’t choose to pay attention in the class. With all that in mind, it was easy to see why he forgot whatever happened at the bar and the night following the friday before.

That, and he purposely tried to forget some details.

Whatever student came in that day would probably leave questioning why Mr. Bradshaw was so… Silent. And acting oddly. As stoic as he was, it was clear to tell that something was bothering. Or at least, to some students. The act would be pushed further the more one would ask of him. Luckily now though all those children were gone. It was pushing evening now, and Leeroy hadn’t much left to do in his office. He locked a few things in his briefcase. Pulling it off the desk, before adjusting his hat. It had been a long day. And weekend. He still needed to rest a bit.

Now traveling down the hallway, Leeroy paid attention to particularly no one. Much of the staff were still on the grounds, though Leeroy didn’t really interact with anyone. A muttered ‘good night’ or ‘see y’all later’ was placed every now and again, but that was about it. He took this time to think to himself. It was quiet. Just the way he liked it.

For now.

The monday after. Everything that had gone down the weekend before were a slightly muddled mess after all the drinks and excitement. But the things that did transpire were so wonderful and deliciously lecherous that they were impossible to lose to the haze of alcohol. A number in his phone guaranteed that if he ever needed to jog his memory about what had transpired, the young man Sammi would be happy to try and remind him of they had done. Of course, that call would not be made any time soon for Lelei. His schedule was kept busy with keeping the kids in the Academy in line as the year's end drew near.

Lelei was able to keep his personal life separate from his professional life quite easily. When the time called and he needed to be a stern figure of authority, he was exactly that. No amount of fine boy booty could keep Lelei from staring down an unruly student or breaking up a bad fight. During down time, however, he was more prone to looking a little more bright and chipper than usual. Most perceived it as simply good moods. The more wizened among his peers sensed the true origin of the sunny disposition and dropped Lelei hints that he knew. He only gave them a wink and a nudge in response.

It was only when someone mentioned that Leeroy was also in a decidedly different mood that Lelei remembered he should follow up with his wingman. Especially since it sounded like Leeroy's mood had gone in the opposite direction of Lelei's.

The day passed before Lelei could find Leeroy, walking down the hallway with his shoulders and head down in a decidedly melancholy way. Lelei feared that his night had not gone as well as Lelei's, and he approached with a little caution.

"Leeroy. Leeroy! Hey."

He fell into step beside his former wingman, smiling a little.

How's it going, man? Still feeling a little hungover from the weekend?"

Leeroy swiveled his head immediately. Despite his original intents, he was apparently willing to acknowledge the presence of others. The voice he heard though was familiar, and simultaneously the first and last person he wanted to here from. He was a good guy, but… After the events of the weekend, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to think about that night again.

"Ah, howdy Lelei." Leeroy greeted, turning around with a small smile. It was strained, but Leeroy figured there was no use in being distant or cold to the giant shark. He slowly looked up as he approached. Even if he was pass-out drunk almost after the night he met him he remembered how much bigger he was. That, and the fact that he was literally a fish out of water. "Naw man, jus’ a lil… Tired, s’all. Hard work day and no sleep ain’t exactly tha best of combos, ya know?" He wasn’t exactly physically exhausted, but he did feel mental deterioration seeping into him. Maybe if he just slept it off he’d keep getting the weekend out of his head. By the look of the shark man’s broader smile, he must have had better results than him. "How you holdin’ up there? Enjoy the rest of yer weekend?" Leeroy tried to pull on a wider smile, with… Mixed results.

"I mean, that night was somethin’ else… I hope ya got somethin great outta it." Knowing Lelei, probably so. Leeroy, not so much.

Lelei had opened with a little joke, hoping to raise Leeroy's spirits before actually engaging with whatever seemed to be his problem. The joke was also a fairly innocuous way to gauge Leeroy's attitude and feelings based on the reactions it got out of him. They were not very promising. Lelei could sense the effort behind the smile and his words, as if Leeroy was straining to interact in a more publicly-acceptable manner. Leeroy was putting up a front, or hiding something.

A smile was maintained on Lelei's own face for the sake of Leeroy.

"I hear you. These kids can run you ragged sometimes."

At least it seemed that Leeroy was not entirely ignoring or avoiding their weekend. But again, considering how Leeroy seemed to be acting, it could have all been part of the facade he was maintaining. His smile became more strained, and it killed Lelei.

"Y-Yeah. It was, uh, pretty good. Sammi was a lot of fun..."

"Fun" was putting it mildly, but that felt like the only way Lelei could have phrased it at the moment. If he just went ahead and showed Leeroy the pictures he had taken of Sammi during their evening on his phone, then it would have been super awkward instead of high five-worthy.

"What about you? Did, uh, Tomi manage to stay awake before you left the bar?"

It only took mere moments for Lee’s front to begin to falter and give way to his insecurities. Tension was clear in the air as the built man did his absolute best to avoid making the already awkward encounter more uncomfortable. But at least there wasn’t any hostility. At that point, leeroy would have really come up with an escape excuse.

And being that he was thirty years old, those kind of lies seemed rather unnecessary and petty.

"Haha, yeah..."

A brief silence fell between them. Well, brief as in a few seconds. But for Leeroy it felt it might as well had been a millenia. Which was a completely foreign feeling, especially combined with the fact that he hadn’t acted like this since… Well, the last time this happened. Which seemed like a millenia ago in itself.

His grip tightened around his briefcase. Himself attempting to forget the evening, though remembering it just enough so that he could at least help his coworker feel better about the whole situation. Regardless, Lelei sounded like he had a lot of fun. That’s what mattered right? After all, he went into the whole thing knowing he wasn’t going to get anything like he did out of it…

"I bet. He seemed like a fun fella. Musta been even more so when tha booze really set in." A stifled chuckle came from between his lips. What happened he figured would be their business, unless Lelei felt like sharing. A flirt like him must have made a few choice stories that dealt with hookups. It might make him feel better, but worse at the same time. It was a feeling of bittersweetness, truly.

What threw him off though was his question about his man for the night. Tomi. Uh oh. "Uh..." Leeroy began to speak, thinking aloud as it seemed that he truly did have difficulty recalling it all. "Ah, yeah. Poor guy was stumblin’ a bit but otherwise he seemed ta git much better once he was over at ma place. A bit too better, come ta think of it..." He looked down, thinking for a moment before snapping himself back into the present. "Ah, um. Yeah. So… Sammi was a lotta fun you say?" Leeroy chuckled, cracking yet another almost forced smile.

Had the situation been a better one, Lelei would have been a gossiping schoolgirl regarding the escapades he and Sammi had conducted that night after the bar. Lelei would have been grinning like a madman as he alluded to all the things they did to each other, or for each other. Then he might have busted out his phone and surreptitiously showed Lee the bounty of dirty pictures from that night, showing both of them in various states of undress and wetness.

But the situation was not better. There was no ignoring the tension in the air between them nor the nerves that Lee was feeling. The question then became "why?". Why was Lee looking like he was just putting on airs for sociability, and hiding something terrible within himself? Lelei needed to know, especially since he was paranoid enough to suspect he had something to do with it.

"Yeah. Yeah... Sammi was a blast. Hey. Lee."

Lelei sped up for a second so he could step in front of Lee, stopping the walk and talk and seeing him face-to-face.

"We're bigger than this. We're adults here. Something wrong, and I'd like to know what it is. Man to man."

He leaned a little closer to Lee, concerned and whispering.

"Did something happen after we left the bar?"

Leeroy stopped. The act was pointless now that Lelei caught on. Which, in all honesty, was not at all surprising to Leeroy. The superficiality of the act was pretty much obvious anyway. A deep breath came from him as he leaned against the nearest wall. He scanned the hallway to each side to make sure no one was coming. Empty, since classes ended awhile ago. Excellent.

A sigh huffed from his barrel-like chest. "Fine.." He stated simply as he agreed to finally come clean. Maybe he was just making a big deal out of this but... It all stemmed from a problem he always had.

"Nothin' happened. Which is exactly tha problem." Leeroy looked up to him, folding his arms over his chest. Despite his eyes on his shark companion his focus was unable to be determined. "This is um... Kinda embarrassin' but..." He breathed. Trying to collect his thoughts into how it was best to explain his deal without being explicit. "Ya know uh... I teach power classes, right?" He started. "Well... I always have had this philosophy that every power, no matter how strong, has a terrible weakness. And as last night proved yet again, I'm not 'xactly an exception." This seemed like a whole bunch of unnecessary backstory, but he felt it would make sense in a few moments.

"So uh... I can a'splode. And regenerate maself. Without feelin' a hair of pain whatsoever. But in exchange for not feelin' pain... I can't feel its opposite either." He looked him straight on. Man on man, as Lelei said himself. "I never had felt pleasure in ma life. Never will either. It's just kinda... Numb, I guess. I mean, numb in tha sense I can feel touch but I guess nothin registers in ma brain. And after one incident a long time ago... I never really tried pursuit' anyone ever again. Well... Until alcohol and a rather uh... Excited young man was... thrown in."

He looked up at him with a crooked, almost pained smile. "So uh... Yeah. I guess ya can imagine what's implied an' what really went down."

Unfortunately, during their stop, Lelei had not kept in mind the fact that they were in the middle of a hallway. Fortunately, for the purposes of their personal talk, no one was around. Even more fortunately, Lee was still willing to open up about the problem without asking to duck into a side room or more isolated part of the Academy.

At first, Lelei was mildly confused. Nothing happened.

"So... What? Tomi didn't put out?"

Getting blue-balled by a cute drunk boy was disappointing, at least in Lelei's view, but that seemed like something that would not cause Lee to be so... distressed. Even Lelei would have not seemed to down about a boy not giving him some. Upset? Maybe. But not embarrassed and defensive about it. Hell, he might have laughed it off and tried again next weekend.

Then Lee elaborated. Lelei listened closely, nodding to let him know that he was indeed listening. Lee seemed to be talking around the issue at the beginning, with bringing up his teaching position and all. As he went on, though, Lelei picked up on why he had mentioned it. Then he finally just came out and made his point. Lelei immediately felt awkward about the entire trip to the bar.

"Yeah. I get what you mean.

I'm... I'm SO sorry, man. I didn't know."

Suddenly everything Lelei did that evening seemed so dickish in his mind. It had been unfair of him to push Lee into that situation considering his condition, and it was also unfair to the boys. He had set up everybody into the most awkward of situations, except for Sammi.

"You... You shoulda told me. I would've respected that. I'm a horny shark, but I ain't gonna make everyone follow my lead. Oh man... I hope everything at least turned out... alright. For you and Tomi..."

There. Now everything was out on the table, or what he cared to mention. Thank God nobody had walked by the pair, for even in a whisper Leeroy’s voice was still a very deep bass just as always. As he explained, he watched Lelei’s face as he attempted to decipher just what he was talking about. Sure, Leeroy knew the problem seemed on the surface like one of those things that just sort of happened from time to time. But this… Even his shark companion saw that things dug much deeper than they appeared.

So almost immediately after he began to apologize, Leeroy shook his head. It wasn’t his fault. Not at all. Even if he blamed himself Leeroy knew the source of the problem was either himself or something far beyond either one’s control. So, he wouldn’t allow Lelei to feel any sort of regret or sympathy.

"Don’t apologize. It ain’t yer fault. And.. If it counts any.. I had fun for the time bein’" He assured with another shaky smile, adjusting the brim of his hat just a little bit out of habit. "I just… get lost in things, and forget ma number one weakness… Which always ends up blowin’ up in ma face. As for Tomi..." He chuckled then, this time clearly more bitterly. "Let’s just say we prolly ain’t gonna be seein’ mucha each other again."

On that note, Lee lifted his hat and ran a hand through his hair. Now this was completely awkward, to which lee assumed full responsibility for. "Ah… Ah’m sorry. All I gotta say is that it sucks kinda, but I’ma grown man. It is what it is. I gave up on any sorta intrapersonal connections a long time ago. I dunno why I thought this would be any different. S-sorry if this was all tmi or whatever. I’m glad you had a good time all tha way through."

He began to back up backwards a little bit. His mind soon flipped through the desire to book it home and drown out the rest of his evening by himself. Anything sounded better than explaining himself to his coworker like.. This.

The reasonable part of Lelei's brain knew that he should accept Lee's forgiveness, and not be too hard on himself for making a mistake. But in the moment, Lelei was compelled to apologize. Knowing that he had put Lee and Tomi into a super awkward, and probably uncomfortable, position was a total embarrassment. Lelei just wanted to bow his head, hide his face and apologize to Lee and Tomi. That is, assuming Tomi would ever want to associate with either of them again.

"Tomi..."

A second wave of regret spilled over Lelei as he imagined how hard the kid must have taken it that night. Lelei was imagining Tomi finally getting up his courage to put the moves on Lee, only for his... condition to show itself. Maybe Tomi was better than Lelei imagined, but Lelei could only imagine Tomi getting really angry or really depressed. A mental note was made to contact Sammi, whose number Lelei had received that night, and ask about how Tomi is doing.

Lelei had taken to awkwardly shifting his weight from one foot to the other out of awkwardness, rubbing his neck and generally trying(and failing) to look at Lee.

"No... It's better than you told me before I tried taking out to find some ass a second time. Hey, if there's anything I can do to make it up to you, just say the word."
