Ah, the pacific.. It was lovely to visit the beach.. Even though the academy was on an island. Strange, the human girl slowly walked over to the waves with sandals in hand. This was her first day on the island, she couldn't find the academy (Without her glasses, she was partially blind) and she found her way on the beach. The waves were beautifully clashing against each other, the sun was so bright you can practically see it's reflection in the clashing waves! And the sand was hot enough to burn your feet.

Samantha was excited to start her freshman year at the academy and even see her twim sister Amalia. She was a bit sad that Amalia probably didn't want to see her, but it wasn't like she was going to follow her twin around anyway! Samantha was good at making new friends plus she was prettier than plain old Amalia anyway! Samantha shook the thoughts out of her head and continued to walk towards the waves.

The teenage girl stopped once the waves hit her feet, she giggled as it passed loving the sensational feeling it gave her. Her yellow sundress blew in the wind as she placed her hands on her sunhat, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. The air was stable enough to make her fly... But she had no idea how to fly, maybe she can practice? Just as soon as she thought about it, her feet were no longer in the sand!

The blonde opened her eyes and looked down, she let out a shriek as she kicked her legs hoping it would place her back in the hot sand. Instead it lofted her even higher, "That's humorous powers, now put me down!" She exclaimed as she floated even higher. The British girl screamed as she was pulled towards the sea.

"No! No! No! No! No!"

And all of a sudden, the young girl started falling towards the sea before plunging into it. Samantha quickly resurfaced and waves her arms, "Help! Please, anyone! I can't swim!" She yelled as she started swallowing the salt water, "Blrggh!" This wasn't a great start on her first day...

Lelei had wanted to go for a swim that day. The temperatures about the island had risen and the sun was shining, so it was the perfect kind of day to get back into the waters and have a good swim. After dealing with the Deep One, his ban on oceanic swimming had been lifted and he was now free to swim in the waters he held so dear. With the ban gone, he also felt like he could returned to most of his traditional roots as well, as long as he was allowed to be in the ocean. However, his plans were cut short after he arrived at the beach.

A blonde girl was walking around the sand and enjoying the weather when he arrived at the beach, ready to strip down to nothing once more and dip into the water. It was a little discouraging, but it was nothing he got upset over. He would just have to find another stretch of beach to start from. Even though he wanted to swim in his tradition naked fashion, Lelei knew it was still inappropriate around most of the islanders, especially younger women.

But before he turned to go find somewhere, he watched as the girl lifted up into the air in a graceful arc. Well, it was graceful and majestic until she started flailing. She must have been a new student at the Academy, and she was still getting the hang of her powers. It was almost funny until she fell out of the sky, into the water, and immediately started panicking.

The giant shark man immediately leaped into action, dropping his bag and running off for the water.

"Hang on! I'm coming!"

The girl was lucky. The person coming to save her could not have been more qualified to do so. Lelei dove into the water with ease and sped over to her with the help of his tail. His fin poking above the surface might have caused some concern, as would the way he suddenly picked her up.

"Don't worry! I got you!"

With his strong muscular arms and physique, it was no trouble carrying her back to shore and swimming at the same time. In no time at all, she was set gently back down on the sand with Lelei crouching next to her.

"Are you okay? Do you need first aid? Should I get help?"

Samantha gurgled and spat out all of the sodium-filled water as she splashed around in the waves. The English girl narrowed her eyes hysterically, checking around to see if there were any dangerous creatures lurking around. Seeing that there was nothing dangerous lurking around in these waters she begun to panic even more.

A few seconds passed and she saw a fin, she yelled even louder flapping her arms so fast that you would mistaken her arms as a fan. ""HELP! SHARK! SOMEBODY!" She screamed as she tried her best to swim away. No, she couldn't die now! She had to see her sister first and have her first kiss! Swim away Samantha, swim away! She thought as she heaved her body towards the island and started moving her arms and kicking her legs. The girl wasn't getting anywhere and she was already tired.

Samantha felt arms wrap around her and pick her up, swimming her back to the beach. The British girl wasn't really aware that a stranger would save her, but she just went with it.

As the stranger placed her on the sand and asked her if she was alright, she coughed up the salt water and looked up at the stranger, squinting her eyes. "D-Don't worry, There is no need sir," She exclaimed as the sun suddenly shielded her eyes from seeing the male's appearance. And with her bad vision, it was much worse to see what the man looked like. "Thank you for saving me from drowning, I'm oddly clumsy when it comes to err.. Well, I would like to know your name. So, who are you?" Samantha asked, placing her hands over eyes.

Saving the life of a drowning girl was a higher priority than being concerned with scaring that same drowning girl with his beast-like appearance. Of course Lelei was aware of how intimidating he looked, especially in the water. There was escaping that fact since he had first come onto the land, and it was a fact that he had quickly come to terms with, as did most of the people who knew him. The blonde girl was just another new person whom would need the time to become familiar with him.

He heaved a sigh of relief as the girl made a few errant coughs, but otherwise indicated that she was alright.

"Good. Good. Very good. You were lucky I was in the area, or no one might have come to save you."

Lelei noticed her squinting eyes and the way she shielded the sun from her face. Being a much larger person than she was, and being the nice shark man that he was, he moved over into a position to block the sun from her eyes.

"My name is Lelei 'A'amakualenalena. But you can just call me Lelei. I sometimes work for the Academy on the island, and I assume that you go there too?"

(I am terribly sorry this is late, I was at a low point in writing and I still am, so I also apologize for the quality of this post! Plus I'm using a phone v.v)

Samantha wasn't able to see the stranger that had saved her, but telling by his voice he must've been handsome! The teen Brit was glad that he was able to shield the sun from her eyes, What a gentleman, he must be a swinger too, If only I could see... She thought slightly squinting to get a good look at him as he had introduced himself.

His name was Leilei, but he had an extra complicated name and told her to call him by his first name. Samantha smiled and nodded, taking a mental note to call him that. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Leilei, lovely name by the way. I've never heard of a name like that, extremely lovely!" The teenage girl complimented the young man before sitting up and dusting the sand off of her sundress as quickly as she can, "Gee, I hope the sand doesn't have crabs, heh," She added, wiping the sand on her legs before tilting her head to the left and patting the side of her head silently hoping to get the salt water out of her ear.

After managing to get a smidge of salt water out of her ear, she tilted to the right and repeated her action, answering his question "You mean Straight Academy?" The fourteen year old inquired, wondering if there were two academies on this island. Maybe her and Amalia weren't in the same schools? "Urm, I had just arrived on the island, I guess I go there... I'm really lost and wasn't able to retrieve the map anywhere, if this is Starlight Academy you're talking about?" Samantha had finally stopped babbling, hope she didn't scare the silhouette away! She wasn't able to get the water out of her right ear, so she stopped the banging and squinted at LeiLei, as if waiting for a response.

No one had ever complimented Lelei's name like Samantha had, or maybe he had never paid it any mind before. Either way, he was flattered to hear that his name was apparently quite lovely. A name was something a person became very very familiar with over the course of time, to the point where it lost most meaning beyond identifying them. The same went for Lelei, whom had never considered how nice-sounding his name might have been to people who were unfamiliar with the language. At least he was always aware of how complicated his last name was, and most people were grateful to not have to try and pronounce it all the time.

"The sand is crab-free on shore. Don't worry."

Her joke was lost on him as he helped her to her feet. As she cleaned herself off and dried what she could, he remained in her sun. He was going to ask if she wanted to dry off in the sun, and he would have gladly moved if she requested, but she asked something else instead. His head tilted in slight confusion.

"Um. Yes. Starlight Academy. I believe that's the only academy on the island. Do you need some help getting there because..."

Lelei looked out around the beach.

"... You're kind of nowhere near it. The Academy isn't located on the beach. And maybe we should get you some dry clothes before we go there..."

Farther away from the water, the boardwalk began so it was not like the girl was in danger of getting lost in the wilderness. But if she was lost, the city was only slightly safer. Manta Carlos was a good place, but there cars and troublemakers all the same. Though if she did get lost, Lelei suspected the wet teenage girl would draw enough attention for someone to come along and help her.

"Nowhere near it!? I thought it was on an is- You've got a point there, Warm clothes would be nice." Samantha agreed, slowly standing on two of her wobbly legs which were shivering from the frigid salt water. She quickly held up a hand to reassure to him that she was capable of standing up on her own whether he wanted to help her stand or not, The teenage girl lifted her head and noticed that Leilei had a strange head shape (He was still a blurry silhouette to her due to salt water and rubbish eyesight). But she decided not to point it out to him since he saved her and it would be rude.

"Well lead the way then, Mr. Leilei~!" The blonde said with a cheerful smile, glad that someone was willing to help her find new clothes and get her to the Academy her twin sister was in. Since she was wet, couldn't she dry herself off? I could try drying myself off to save trouble, but I would like to get to know this man... She thought while absentmindedly walking in a different direction. The girl was pretty nosy when it came to meeting new people, she feels as if she HAS to know everything even their darkest secrets and future ambitions. People in general were just interesting to her.

Samantha stopped in her tracks and turned around, seeing that she was walking ahead of Leilei. "Ah! Wrong way, I'm very sorry!!!" She shrieked the apology and ran over to him, positioning herself to be right next to him. The Brit made it right next to him, her golden locks cascading down her shoulder as she hugged herself. "Brrr, it's really starting to get cold, isn't it?" Samantha asked, trying to start conversation. "Hehe, sorry I just like meeting new people! So, you from here?"

"Well, relatively speaking. I mean--"

The young girl proved to be, perhaps, more than Lelei had bargained for when she started rapidly switching gears in her statements and then walking off on her own for some reason. She spoke so fast and moved with so little warning that Lelei was left standing in the same spot, confounded and waiting for his mind to process what was happening with her. But before he could even do that, she was back at his side and seemingly finally ready to start cooperating with him a little bit.

He looked down at the girl, curious but not upset. She was interesting, he had to give her that. But something seemed off about her. The way she had squinted at him, staring almost, had been a little odd. The fact that she did not seem to be bothered by his shark man appearance did not even register for him, as Lelei was used to everyone on the island being okay with him.

"Maybe you just need some sun then."

Lelei rotated around her a few degrees, staying at her side but letting the nice warm sun hit her finally and chase away whatever cold she was feeling.

"I like meeting people too. Maybe we can meet some more. Come."

He gestured for her to follow as he started off towards the boardwalk.

"I'm sort of from around here. Not the island. I come from somewhere nearby. I just live and work here. What about you? Why are you here, Miss...?"

Samantha beamed when Leilei told her that maybe they can meet some more, What did that exactly mean? Did she already make a new friend? Nonsense, she has just met the young man. But the Brit was gullible and wanted people to befriend and like her as an individual. She nodded a 'thanks' when he moved out of her way to allow the sun to warm her up, The teenage girl started to feel the heat and lowered her arms to her sides in a rather calm demeanor.

Samantha followed Leiei towards a boardwalk, it sure wasn't like the infamous London Tower Bridge though. To be honest, the bubbly blonde expected more from the island. She expected there to be high palm trees and hula dancers, maybe social media and television messed up her head with the ridiculous stereotypes of what an island was suppose to look like. Maybe Hawaii was much different than Manta Carlo, hopefully all of Manta Carlo was like a five star resort.

Leilei has answered her question and told her that he lived and worked there, was he a lifeguard? It would've made sense, considering that he saved her from-- When am I ever going to get over that? She thought, interrupting her own thought process. Samantha took the most simple acts of kindness seriously, whether someone gave her a dollar, or saved her from drowning.

The man had returned the question and she turned to look at him. Nope, still blurry with a strange head-shape, hopefully she can get her eyeglasses once she's registered to Starlight Academy and take a good look at him. "Samantha Nightingale, I apologize for not introducing myself earlier, man, I've been apologizing a lot, haven't I?" The bubbly blonde added with an annoyed eyeroll directed to herself. "Anyway, I've been asked to attend Starlight Academy after I've experienced strange things happening to me. My identical twin sister Amalia is there, I hope I can see her soon... But, yes! I'm pretty excited to start, a little scared because Amalia and I are extremely different... Leilei, do you have any siblings?"

There were parts of the island that were exactly what Samantha had expected from an island in the middle of the Pacific, with palm trees and coconuts. But there were no hula dancers to Lelei's knowledge. Manta Carlos had a nice diverse set of parts that allowed the population to live in comfortable civilization or in serene privacy out in nature. Most people chose to live within or immediately around the city as it was simply more convenient and familiar, and the city provided. Only a few chose to have a nice place more out in the woods or along the beaches.

"You're doing fine, Samantha. Don't be too hard on yourself."

The boardwalk was comfortably busy at midday, with all the shops open and business going about as usual. Warm weather and clear skies were bringing out all the folks looking to have a good time on their days off, creating a nice and lively atmosphere. Only a few people turned to wonder what was up with the soaking wet girl, and no one chose to really question it once they saw whom she was walking with.

"So you have a sibling already here, hm? That's nice. We can ask about her once we get you to the Academy, and maybe arrange a dorm or class schedule where you two could be together."

Her follow up question got him to pause for a second in thought, before continuing to walk, looking for a suitable place for Samantha to get changed or dried off.

"Not to my knowledge. But it could very well be a different case now. I haven't been back to my home for family matters in quite some time."
