"Yeah, that's where it's from. A little straightforward, but I liked the character." Even if Tybalt in the play died. It was a violent death, but he didn't mind that too much. "Besides... I think his personality kind of suits me. Don't you?"

He was teasing a little, of course. The Tybalt in the play had also been rather cruel in a way that he definitely was not. He couldn't help but grin ever so slightly at the hedgehog's little twitching nose. "How cute... Well, the hedgehog, and you for taking him in."

Tybalt stood up straight again with a bit of a sigh. "Was never much of a pet person myself. Humans live short enough lives as it is. I don't need the constant heartbreak of animals dying, too."

Oops. Obviously Tybalt expected him to be a bit more literary than he actually was, and his cheeks went a bit pink from embarrassment.

"Have to admit I haven't read Romeo and Juliet since like... ninth grade." Was it ninth grade? Maybe tenth. He supposed it didn't matter. He didn't really remember much of it, beyond that it was the world's shittest love story. Everyone talked about how romantic it was, only it was really just dumb kids.

"The way I figure it, he'll probably go before I do - I mean, it's pretty much guaranteed - but the least I can do is give him an enjoyable life, rather then sending him off to the pound." He wasn't even sure if the pound did take hedgehogs.

"So what is your real name, then?" From what he'd said, Tybalt wasn't even it. "Assuming you can even say it without bursting my eardrums."

There was a pause before Tybalt sighed a little again. He seemed to sigh a whole lot. "I'll buy you a copy of a few of the more popular plays." Just a little bookset sort of thing; he didn't need all of them. Tybalt, on the other hand, basically had it all memorized off by heart.

His real name, though... Tybalt paused for a couple seconds, mulling it over. Oh yes, he hadn't spoken his true name in a very, very long time. It wasn't as if he tried to forget it, but the connotations were just rather painful. Besides, some people were very religious and they were likely to immediately recognize him.

"I could tell you, but..." Striking a deal, then? Well, on Angelo's side, it might have been a deal with the devil had the devil not been a literal angel. "If I tell you my name, you've got to let me see something about you."

And he had exactly what he needed in mind.

Angelo had a sneaking suspicion he was going to end up reading the complete works of shakespeare... or else. If nothing else, quoting a love sonnet would probably be the closest thing to foreplay Tybalt could possibly imagine, and he couldn't help but chuckle at the idea of it.

He wasn't exactly keen of the idea of making deals just to find out his boyfriend's name (were they even boyfriends? or were they just 'dating'?), but he wasn't the kind of person who felt like he had many secrets. He didn't like keeping things from people unless it was strictly work related, so he paused, frowning slightly before nodding.

"Sure." Even if he wasn't terribly comfortable with the idea, he didn't see any reason to play games and try and figure out what it was he wanted first.

Sure. He wasn't expecting it to be that simple. He was expecting a little resistance, maybe some qualm or two where he would say it wasn't fair. But no, he just told him sure and that was that, even if he didn't look too happy about it. Tybalt hesitated just a little before deciding it was now or never, and he'd never bring it up again.

"I need... I need you to think about the worst thing you've ever done." Murder. He knew it was murder, but there were different kinds. He didn't say 'murder' specifically because there may have been something even worse than that. If he wanted to be with him, he'd have to judge for himself whether he was capable of forgiving him for whatever he'd done.

"And I need to see it. You don't have to say anything out loud, just close your eyes and... Think about it."

It was a tall order. Then again, so was his name.

His thoughts had gone to mostly inappropriate places at the mention of Tybalt 'seeing something about him'. There was only so much to see, and it was hard not to dance off in that sort of direction. He'd honestly expected something more like 'if you have any guns in the house', to which the answer was yes but they're not mine. Instead, he got something else entirely.

It took him a moment to process, and then a moment longer to decide. There was no one thing that stood out to him as 'the worst thing he'd ever done'. There were a lot of murders, and most didn't stand out in any particular way. His first, because he'd been young? But no - it occurred to him which one would be the worst to Tybalt, even if it wasn't the worst to him.

He nodded, although he wasn't sure what he was supposed to be doing beyond thinking about it. Because he was - it wasn't a terribly unpleasant memory to him, although it was laced with a terrible bitterness. Someone had died. Someone had died and he'd gotten revenge, the only murder the was ever personal, the only one he'd done with his own two hands. He didn't regret it, not at all, but he knew it would be the one Tybalt would hate the most.

Tybalt breathed slowly, knowing he was about to dive into something he probably didn't want to see. It wasn't like he was particularly squeamish; in fact, far from it. He'd seen into the souls of millions of humans and surely some must have been worse than Angelo. But this was his partner, someone he was (supposed to be?) in a relationship with and otherwise a huge cuddly teddybear with a pet hedgehog.

He nodded, leaned forward and gently laid a hand over Angelo's chest, right where his soul glowed dimly between his collarbones. At first there were just vague flashes of light as he wormed his way in, picking up the memories. There would be one on top of the 'pile' so to speak, the one Angelo was thinking about currently.

It was dim, perhaps some sort of hallway... Concrete, stains along the walls. He couldn't see a door anywhere, or a window. His view panned down, and there it all was.

Definitely not the worst he'd seen, but pretty terrible. A man looked like he'd been beaten to a pulp, hanging onto life by just a finger or two. And there were hands around his neck, what he only knew were Angelo's just throttling him. He almost felt the pressure under his own palms.

Tybalt finally pulled back, looking a little stunned. He glanced down at his own hand for just a second as if expecting there to be blood there.

"Puriel."

Even though he had no experience with it, it wasn't hard to figure out what he was doing. He was seeing it somehow, touching his chest and using that to peer into his mind. A part of him was a bit annoyed he hadn't at least said what he was going to do, but he supposed it was personal enough without him getting on his case.

He had enough of an idea of what he'd seen when Tybalt pulled back, but no idea of how much he knew. Did he see things just had Angelo had seen? Had he known what was happening? Did he know the why of it? It was hard to even focus on his name. All he wanted to do was reach out and make him stop remembering thinking about it.

"A friend of mine died. Someone I'd grown up with, who didn't deserve to die. He died because someone sold us out for cash." He didn't go so far as to say that he didn't regret it... but he didn't.

He got up, scooping the hedgehog into the crook of his arm as he took the three steps over to the low bookshelf, digging around before returning with a book in hand. It was a lovely hardcover, and there'd be no question about why he'd grabbed it when Tybalt read the title.

Angelo carefully returned the hedgehog to his case before flipping open An Encyclopedia of Angels, flipping through before finding the right page.

"Puriel, also Pusiel and Pyriel. An Angel from the apocryphal work of the Testament of Abraham, the second-century AD apocalyptic tale of Abraham's journey to heaven. Puriel is described as utterly pitiless, with the task of examining the soul of each person brought to heaven for examination after death." He read allowed, eyes sweeping over the page, his tone even despite hte subject matter.

Both his hands folded in his lap as he rewound the images in his head. He'd killed someone, strangled them to death with his bare hands. It was bloody, he'd perhaps done more than that before dealing the final blow. It was far from the most gristly thing he'd seen, and as an angel he'd seen a whole fucking lot.

"Hm..." He hummed quietly. So the man he'd strangled to death was the one that sold his friend out. Among the many other murders that turned his soul murky and grey, this was one of the more prominent ones. He hadn't said he regretted it, but that was another grey area he didn't want to touch at the moment.

How complex. But as humans are, so were their situations.

His eyes fell to the cover of the book that Angelo took out and he couldn't help but make a vague sound of amusement. A dictionary of angels, huh? Tybalt knew he'd likely be in there. He was an ancient one, and he was prominent for certain... traits.

"Yeah... Yeah, that'd be me." The angel who allowed wrath and apathy for the human race become his downfall. It had been a tough pill to swallow, but he hadn't had a choice.

Angelo knw all the big angels, but he wasn't going to know some of the less well known ones like Puriel. He'd picked the book up in a moment of religious fervor, even if he hadn't actually read the whole thing.

He stared at the passage for several seconds before he closed the book with a snap, setting it to the side and turning to face Tybalt properly.

"Well, it's not exactly a good description. Only gave you one character trait, and it's not even a correct character trait." He couldn't help but give one of his small little smiles, leaning in for a kiss as he did so.

"You're certainly not pitiless."
