She is an outgoing, introvert, as in cheery, friendly, affectionate, and loves to be with a close friend, but finds spending time with people emotionally draining and cannot stand being in large groups of emotional people. She goes out of her way to treat everyone nicely, and does anything she can to make others happy, likely because of her empathy ability. However, because of her empathy powers, she puts other people’s emotions ahead of her own. She is an enabler to an extreme, which causes problems in abusive or toxic relationship. If someone is sad and needs help because they spent their rent money on booze, she would want to loan them money no strings attached. If someone excitedly tells her they want to break into the old, decrepit factory, she is there! When someone gets angry at her, she gets angry at them, leading to extremely fierce fights.

Haley grew up on a farm in rural southwestern Georgia. She has had her empathy powers as early as she remembers, though she never thought they were supernatural and does not know why she has them. Her mother would joke about how of all the children, her crying was the most impossible to ignore, and she had to go to great lengths to get you to stop.
She is the middle child with 4 siblings and had very conservative southern parents. They taught her all the polite niceties of society, which Haley learned quickly thanks to her empathy ability. They taught her to do all the farm work and Haley enjoyed being outside with nature. What Haley did not like was the cruel conditions the chickens were subjected to. Every time she would go near the coop where the broiler chickens were kept, she would feel their pain, fear, and anger. This led to long, heated arguments with her parents at the age of 10. She insisted on going Vegan until they improved the conditions of the chickens. She got grounded, extra chores, and spanked as punishment for not eating the food the parents raised themselves, but Haley never relented. Finally, one of Haley’s father’s friends suggested he convert his farm to peanuts and humanely raised meat and see if that would get Haley to eat. They switched over, and though Haley forced them to make a few more changes to improve the conditions of the chickens, she eventually went back to eating meat, always making a prayer thanking the chicken for this delicious meal. A new restaurant in Atlanta was looking for good local humane meat stores, so it ended up being profitable.
At school, Haley was able to make some good friendships. Occasionally Haley was bullied, but it never bothered her since she could tell the bullies were just trying to get over their own pain.
