Most powers tended to be, one way or another, good. They were useful. Which made sense. People who had powers that uniquivocally sucked tended not to reproduce, and something something evolution, right? Jude wasn't entirely sure, but the whole thing sounded about right in his head, even if he wasn't sure how valid it was here. That was how it had worked back at home, with every generation getting that much more powerful than the one before it.
Jude let himself relaxed a bit as Leeroy went out of his way to calm his fears. Alright. He could deal with all this, couldn't he? It wasn't that bad - just a surprise. And he was willing to talk. He seemed interested. He wasn't shutting down or telling Jude to move on or anything.
But his question caught Jude off guard, and his eyes widened slightly as his brain turned over, trying to process for a moment before it finally caught.
"Oh! Oh, these?" He gestured up to the metal on his face, the bits running down his neck. "No. Not him. That was an explosion, but it wasn't one of his." He supposed Leeroy was probably familiar with what explosion scars looked like, and... well, that was the kind of patterning Jude had. It was more obvious with his shirt off, but even just his neck let most people take a pretty good guess.
"I almost never saw him explode," Jude admitted. "His radius was too high. Any time he did, the property damage would be massive even if we'd evacuated ahead of time. It was a weapon of last resort, so most of the time he just fought normally." Or not at all, in a lot of cases.
