Maybe. It was hard to say. DMS had always been a mystery, made erratic by the circumstances required to keep his powers under control. Jude had never even seen their face, first simply out of respect for their privacy, and then later because of the intense stress of keeping them from popping in such an awful situation.

He regretted that.

But he could resolve at least some of it. If he wanted, he could talk with We- with Agatha. He could ask them about DMS. He could ask for their name. What they looked like. Who they were.

He still had that option.

"Thanks," Jude said, snapping himself out of his distraction. "It means a lot. I still have people who knew them. I think... I think after this I'll talk to them. See what I can learn."

He'd never thought about it, but it seemed like a good option, didn't it?

He nodded. He seemed to want to consider to search for the legacy he left behind, which was understandable. The more he talked about Deadmanswitch, the more he seemed to be somewhat of an enigma. And unfortunately, the mystery behind him would remain forever, unless collected in the fragments of other people’s memories.

"That sounds like a good idea. I’m sorry I can’t help much, but hopefully talkin’ to other people who knew him will give ya some closure." This tale had been really interesting. It made him think that maybe,in another universe, he could have ended up on the path of a hero. Here though a man of his power ended up a gym teacher. But hell, he loved what he did, and he couldn’t ask for a better path to choose. "If you find anything else out, let me know, okay? I’m supposed to be there to help out students who came here from other dimensions. Helpin’ people’s why I came a teacher after all."

He liked listening to the stories of other students. There were so many diverse backgrounds here, for better or worse, and each story helped him to understand the endless possibilities of what lies beyond the island he has called home for most of his life.

"Is there anything else you’d like to know about me?"

Closure. Was that what he wanted? Maybe. He wanted to know the person who'd saved his friends. He'd wanted to know the person he'd lived with for months. He knew nothing about them, and he regretted that, even if circumstances had conspired to prevent it.

"Thanks," Jude said, "but I think I've probably... ah, taken up enough of your time."

Well, part of it was that. But part of him was also deeply self conscious, worried he'd pushed Leeroy to get too personal very quickly. He'd... well, he'd talked about some very personal stuff, hadn't he?

"Thank you for talking with me about it though. It was... it was good guidance. It gave me something to aim for, more than anything else." In other words, he knew what he was going for.

Well, it looked like their heart to heart was wrapping up. And he didn’t blow up. Good. He shook his head. "Ain’t no problem. I’m just happy I helped at least somewhat." He said, standing back up again to move over to the mop. He still had cleanup to do, but it was something to kill time until his next class.

He had never really been asked about any of this before. Well, beyond basic questions about his power he used for answers on pop quizzes. And it didn’t seem this whole experience was all a ruse for an A. Still, it felt nice to talk things out. Maybe one day, he would finally be able to open up more.

If there was someone who wanted closure, it was him.

"I’m glad you got your sights on somethin’ then. I’m sure you’ll find any answers you’re still looking for."

With that, he went back to sloshing the old mop on the floor. His eyes were obscured again by the hat he always wore, as his mind began to trace off.

"I’ll be seein’ you again in class. Take care, ya hear?"

He stopped for a second. "And Jude?"

He did look up one last time, a solemn, yet reassuring, look on his face. "If ya ever wanna talk again, don’t hesitate to find me. I wanna be there for my students the best I can."
