This was... Too real feeling. It was fine that she was outside her bosses house, right? It wasn't like she was creeping on him, but that she had his number and was given his address. The thing was; Claire needed a favour. She wasn't one to rely on others for support or guidance, but this was something she knew she couldn't complete alone. Her body was shaking a bit, her worried hands smoothing out her hair over and over as the girl eyed the ringer. She wanted to push it, but did she really want his help? It was sometimes hard to be around him, considering he had a way with his words, and his body. She shook her head, flushing ever to lightly as her hand slammed down on the ringer. Claire shook her head, having heard her knuckles crack at the impact. She could do this, this was totally normal.

Dorian didn't have anything planned that day. Usually, he liked to indulge in idle fancies in his free time, and today was no different. His obsession of the month was toy trains. After he and Malara made jokes about it, he really did look it up and he found they were quite fun.

And then there was someone at his door. Dorian, not looking up from his trains, instinctively asked Mia and Logan to get it for him. Realizing they weren't even home at the time, he felt embarrassed then walked over to the door himself.

"Claire!" Well... This was unexpected. He opened the door wide for her. "Hey. You look nervous. Do you need something?"

When she saw Dorian, she smiled a bit, feeling better that it was him and not someone else. She knew that Dorian had partners in his life, partners that probably even lived in the house she stood in front of. "Dorian." She chirped back, batting her eyes up at him. He was tall, much taller than her. Maybe that's why people wanted to fuck him so much. She didn't like knowing that she looked uneasy, as she usually tired to hide that the best she could. With a huff, she chewed on her lip and crossed her arms. "If you aren't too busy, yeah that'd be great."

Well, that wasn't good body language. He was in the dark here. He didn't know what this was, how severe it was going to be, and how much she wanted from him. Dorian took a few seconds to squint at her before moving to the side, gesturing for her to come in.

"Please. Come in, Claire." He lead her to the living room, clearing space from the sofa and moving his toolboxes aside. He indicated that she should sit before sitting down himself at an armchair across hers. "So, uh. You look like shit, if I may say so."

She lowly grumbled, eyeing him back as he stared. Was this also a normal thing for him, to make people uncomfortable? When he stepped to the side, Claire stepped in and made herself comfy. "Thanks." She echoed, taking a second to chuckle half heartedly. "I feel like shit too, I am shit." She took a look around to get a feel for his place. It was nice, or something.

"This season's been bullshit. How're you?" He seemed like he was fine, in good health, loved, happy. She would listen to his explanation if he were to give one, before leaning forward in her place to continue the real conversation. "My favour is stupid and probably expensive. I can pay you what you need, and I woulda done it myself if I could." She blinked, pausing to let him process. "I need a cabin in the forest."

"I'm fine," was Dorian's go-to response to 'how are you', and that never changed even in circumstances where he wasn't fine. So that was all he said, and for the time being, it looked a lot like Claire needed someone to listen to her more.

The way she built it up made it sound like something he was going to give a firm 'no' to, but after the silence, Dorian just... laughed. "I thought you were going to borrow a million bucks and then run away to Peru or something." He crossed his legs. "You want a cabin? Sure. Done. Word of advice, though, if you're asking someone for a favor, it's better to butter them up than... whatever technique you're going for here."

He leaned forward, thrumming his fingers on his thigh. "You wanna explain why before we go into the logistics of things?"

"No?" There was a half smile, not golly getting why that was the first thing he thought of. She kept quiet though, even when he said he would do it for her. It was a huge thing for sure, so it seemed as if Dorian wanted something in return, or at least a motivation to do it rather than them being okay friends. "Didn't know that was important, really." She retorted back, eyeing him once more. "I suppose, pick what you want or whatever?" It was obvious she wasn't good at this.

When he asked her why, Claire flushed red. Her eyes darted to something on his wall, focusing on it as she spoke once more. "It was a shitty winter, having to stay in my dorm for most of it. I want it for the future, so that um... Wess and I can have a mutual area." She felt embarrassed somehow, like it was a bad thing to say that she wanted some alone time with her boyfriend away from the elements. "If we ever wanted to... Settle down and stuff, we could." She rubbed her tummy, as if to indicate what she meant. "I want it for the sappy shit, Dorian."

Dorian raised an eyebrow at the awkwardness. "Relax, Claire, I'm not asking anything from you. I'm just saying, if you're trying to sell a pitch, you're going to do harder than that. Other people aren't as generous as I am." It was more general life advice than anything, really.

He listened to her explanation. And then, he nodded. "Man... you and Wess are really serious, huh? You're so young too, and you're already thinking of having a baby." He considered this thought for a bit. This was a huge favor she was asking him. For a moment there, Dorian was surprised that she'd ask something of this magnitude without even buttering him up first, or even offering something. It was above and beyond what people should be asking from a normal friend. He was under the impression that he and Claire weren't that close either.

Was he going to turn this down? No, but it felt like one of those decisions that was going to screw him over at a later date. Just help everyone that knocks on your door, Dorian, because that's always worked out great for you!

He looked away, trying to process this properly. He sighed, then looked back at Claire, smiling. "Yeah, I think I can arrange something. Like you said, it won't be cheap, and the hardest thing to get working would be electricity and running water. But I think I can make it work, get a contractor and someone that can give me hard numbers. We can start construction when Spring comes along, alright?" He thrummed his fingers on his thighs.

She didn't look at him, not even when he told her to relax. How could she, though? This was far too much for even her to fully grasp, as the last time she had ever been this committed was- well never. She gripped and ungripped her pants as he mentioned a baby, as she wasn't even sure if that was possible. "Not sure if he'd even want one, I'm just keeping my options open for the future." Her eyes batted, knowing that she would need to focus on Dorian soon here.

"He's pissy at me still about how I acted this winter but- I'm just crazy bout him and seeing him not even know me was... It was really hard." Claire finished, finally taking a second to look up at him again. "You definitely don't have to, and I know it's a lot to ask for someone that's... really done nothing but be a bother." She chuckled coldly, hating the situation she was in. "I just didn't know who else to go to for this type of stuff. I'll pay you how ever much you need." With a nod, she confirmed it. "That sounds really good."

Dorian nodded as he listened. Geez, this all felt really complicated. He couldn't help but feel a lot smaller next to this stuff. All Dorian had to worry about was paperwork and money. People had it a lot worse than he did.

He didn't like the self-deprecation. Didn't she come all the way here to ask him for a favor? Was she backing out mid-conversation? Dorian gave her an unimpressed look. "See? What kind of pitch is that? You're asking me for something, then discouraging me after I said yes?" He shook his head. "Claire, come on. When have I ever been stingy?"

The truth was never. Dorian liked winning and making money, but truth be told, he never really knew what to do with the money he got from his work. He was passionate about charity work. So why not this?

"That's settled, then. Do you have a phone?" He slid his phone across the table. "Hit me up when it's spring again, alright? For the time being, are you alright? Do you need anything else?"
