"I swear, it's not a joke to me" Hayden said quietly like an apology, resting his head on the shoulder behind him and enjoying the blankness of his closed eyes. There was a serenity in this, just being held without anything wanted by either person. Just. Being. He could really stay there forever, just forget who and what he was, what he had done and all the terrible wonderful things that could or would happen. It was too nice to last for long, but while it did it was his new favorite thing. Just, stillness.
They turned, and the blonde faced the raven-haired boy (looking slightly up, because he was adorably shorter). He took Cairo's hand and held it loosely between them, stretching it slightly when the other took a step back. Hayden huffed a small, not exasperated, but tired breath. "Okay. So..." he was silent, his eyes almost shut but still trained on Cairo, searching. "What now?". Hayden genuinely wanted to know what to do at that point, because failing Cairo felt like it would break something fragile that had been formed there.
