Once they arrived, Euphemia began looking around, sorting through the different purses on display. After a short while of searching, she came across a bag that, according to the label, was spring themed. Euphemia didn't really know how to describe it, but its appearance felt very "Bel" to her. She took it off the shelf, looking it over.

"...I do not wish to pry," She spoke again, after a moment of silence. "But, did you perhaps resent your father for his absence in the past?"

Celeste had been looking at a handbag too when Euphemia asked her about Rafael's absences, a question which was not that unexpected, or strange. She had a few people ask her the same thing in the past when they found out about her childhood.

Pulling the handbag off the shelf it was on, she shook her head. "No, I don't resent him," she told Euphemia with a somewhat sad smile. "My parents never got married because my mother didn't want to," she said, knowing full well that perhaps the topic was entering into the very personal, but for some reason carrying on anyway.

"Rafael wanted to. He asked her various times over the years, but she always refused, and she refused to let him raise me or go and live with him," she said, remembering the heated arguments between the two when they thought she wasn't around.

"My mother was a free-spirit and believed marriage was a social convention that trapped women," she told her assistant with a tiny shake of her head. Celeste had always been in total disagreement with her mother's radical and somewhat cold opinion of marriage.

"I see..." She said, considering all this intently. In truth, she didn't quite understand either parent's actions. Why Rafael pursued her mother or why her mother denied him. Nobody in the Order had really told her much about marriage, what she knew she had to figure out by herself. It sounded, from what she understood, as something special, something that only brought joy to those involved. Even if she didn't know what joy felt like, what love felt like, she understood that people would normally seek that out.

"Do you believe they loved each other?" She asked, holding the purse to her side for the moment as she turned to face Celeste properly.

"Truthfully? I do believe Rafael loved my mother," she started as she held the bag, "Though, I am not so sure that my mother really loved my father," Celeste told Euphemia somewhat sadly.

"Heck, I'm not that sure anymore if she really loved anybody but herself and her career." Celeste told her with a sigh as she remembered her mother's clear lack of support for anything Celeste did in life.

Euphemia listened, watching Celeste with curiosity. As she noticed the way her mood seemed to fall, she frowned to herself.

"I apologise." She said. "I did not wish to bring up memories that were upsetting. Perhaps we should continue on with the shopping, there are only a few more things to purchase."

"No, it's quite alright," Celeste said reassuringly when Euphemia apologised and placed a hand on Euphemia's arm, "You didn't know, and I so rarely talk about it. My mother was a woman very focused on her career and herself, I am not upset.. " she said, "Just kinda sad that she was the way she was," Celeste admitted.

"But yes, you are right," she said seeing the bag Euphemia picked out. "I like that, it looks very cheery," she told Euphemia gesturing to the handbag as they made their way to the til.

"Do you have any plans for Christmas?" Celeste asked curiously.

"Yes, I do hope she appreciates it." She nodded, following her to the til, paying for it herself. Only a couple more things she had to buy now. "I do not have anything in particular planned. I believe that the school has a few holiday functions planned, but I am unsure if I will be attending any of them."

She glanced upwards for a moment, thinking about it.

"I think most of my friends already have plans, I do not think I will be able to ask any of them to accompany me. Though perhaps it may be worth meeting new people..."
