Euphemia tilted her head.

"Mr Forestier, I do not think the cold can cause me any harm. Unless the weather becomes far colder, my body lacks many of the functions that would be damaged by the current climate."

It was around after her explanation that she realised that Celeste wouldn't know that.

"I apologise," She nodded her head. "I did not wish to make you worry. I will make sure to keep the weather in mind when choosing my attire in the future."

Celeste just shook her head, "Thank you, Euphemia. I know you don't think the cold can affect you; and it may not, but it doesn't mean the cold dampness on the island climate can't give a cold or pneumonia, or something similar," she stated in a motherly fashion.

"Okay, well, let's get a move on," Celeste said as she noticed the snow starting to fall around them. "My car is over there," she said pointing to a rather nice silvery blue coloured car as she ushered Euphemia over.

Once in the car, Celeste turned on the radio as they drove to the nearest department store - which was also attached to a fairly big mall. There she parked in the parkade and then both women made there way up to the first floor which was labeled, Men's Wear and Sporting Goods.

(Did a small jump.)

[All good yo]

It had been a few weeks since Euphemia had gone to the mall, and with Christmas coming up, today was far more busy in comparison to then. Euphemia stuck by the teacher, quietly absorbing her surroundings, peering into the store as they stood outside.

"Ms Forestier," She spoke. "Might I ask who you are purchasing for today?"

"Well, the list is not too overly long..." Celeste told Euphemia, "First off, there is my family - my father, niece and my three children, Shale, Azure and Ebviony. Then, there is my boyfriend, and possibly his daughter," she told Euphemia, wanting to get Roldan's daughter something too.

"And then I have a few work collegues, the secret Santa too," she replied, trying to think of who else she had to buy for.

"How about you? Do you have many people to buy for?" Celeste asked curiously.

Euphemia listened intently, curious, nodding once she finished speaking.

"I see." She said. "I do not have any family members to give any gifts too. However, I thought it best to purchase things for my friends and acquaintances. There is Elisa, one of the first people I met on the island. There is my dorm mate Bel and my dorm parent Finch. There is Isabella, my..."

She hesitated for just a moment. Euphemia supposed that their relationship matched what she thought friends were supposed to be, even if she didn't quite understand it. But she knew Isabella wanted something different, something more. Euphemia wasn't even sure if she could give her what she wanted, much less whether she wanted it herself.

"Another one of my friends." She finished.

There was, of course, one more person. She turned to face towards Celeste before she finished.

"Of course, I will have to purchase something for you as well, Ms Forestier. What sort of gift might be suitable for you?"

Evidently, she didn't quite realise that Christmas presents were usually a surprise.

Celeste listened as she gestured for her to walk as they talked. Heading up to the women's and children's department first where she'd pick out a few dresses for Ebviony. Something frilly and cute.

"Have you any ideas of what you'd like to get your friends?" she asked her curiously, noting also they were all females and they might be able to choose a few things on this floor on Euphemia's gift list.

Then when Euphemia mentioned getting her something, Celeste could only smile. It was a sweet gesture, and, Celeste had actually planned on getting her assistant something too.

"Well, first of all, sometimes, though not always," she added so as not to make Euphemia think she had done anything wrong, "Sometimes, you might not want to tell others you are getting them a gift so it can be a surprise," she told her.

"However, some people do ask because they are unsure what to get them," Celeste said as they entered the clothing section.

"As for myself, I am happy with whatever Euphemia... chocolates, tea, perfume, books, scarves, things for the kitchen..." she told her assistant, "If it comes from the heart, and you think I will like it. I probably will."

"Ah, if that is the case, I will not inform the others that I have purchased their presents until Christmas day."

She nodded, serious look on her face. This was clearly very important information, she made sure to remember it.

"I am...not entirely certain what you mean," She said, after a moment, a small frown on her face. "When you say it should come from the heart, however, I will keep in mind the things you have suggested."

She was quiet for a moment, thinking on the other people she was here to buy for.

"I am afraid I really do not know what I should purchase for the rest of my friends, however. What do girls my age usually receive as gifts?"

"From the heart means that you have chosen it especially for that person because you think that person will love it," she said. "Usually though, it also refers to something homemade or crafted especially by you for that person," Celeste explained patiently.

"For instance, my son Shale, he often makes me, like ornaments or bowls from stone," she said, wanting to give her an example.

"What things do girls your age like?" Celeste said stopping before some frilly girly dresses, "Well, clothes like t-shirts, or a scarf and gloves, skirts," she started thinking of a few things, "maybe perfume, bath things, handbags, purses ... even jewelry is nice," she mused as she pulled out a dress that she thought Ebviony might like.

Euphemia ended up frowning to herself, just a little. She'd never wanted to receive gifts before, nor had she wanted to give them. She had no true frame of reference for how to really put much meaning into a gift like that.

Unfortunately, Euphemia's hands had been trained to destroy, rather than create. She had little practical experience in crafting such things, so homemade items like her son's stoneworks would be somewhat difficult for her to provide.

Still, many of the things Celeste was describing seemed to make sense for Euphemia, it gave her a couple of ideas.

"I believe some jewellery might be suitable for Elisa, and perhaps Isabella would like a dress." She mused, thinking out loud. She remembered Elisa receiving some jewellery at her birthday party, and when she had gone on that date with Isabella they'd bought some clothes. It was a start, she figured. "I may still require your assistance, however. I am afraid I know very little about what is fashionable."

That covered two of them, she just needed something for Bel and Mr Finch now.

"Of course," Celeste said as she placed the dresses for Ebviony over her arm. They were certainly too frilly and girly probably for her friend Isabella.

Well, let's start here," she said indicating all the dresses around them. "What does Isabella look like, and from the dresses around here, what style does she normally wear?" Celeste asked, thinking they could start with that.
