Lucas had been staring at the ocean for awhile, distracted by the rolling waves. It was only February, which meant the water was freezing. Really, anywhere near the water was too chilly for comfort, but Lucas didn't mind the biting wind or the falling snow, he had a job to do. Beside him, a few feet away, was a neat pile of trash twice the size of his body, about two hours worth or two Big Time Rush Albums. Not too far away was Cluckers in a makeshift pen that was more or less a battle fortress, surrounded by four sand walls and swaddled in a beach towel because chickens shouldn't be in freezing condition — neither should boys. Frost had already starting to form on the ends of his damp hair. There were warmer ways to spend an afternoon; if Lucas stayed by the water any longer he would become a furry popsicle, but his sense of accomplishment could keep him here until sundown.

Aimouryllice a'Phoche was thankful she had picked one of her thicker kimonos to wear that afternoon. The cold still nipped at her fins and fingers, but she was far used to it from her time living in the ocean. She dragged her black woven bag behind her, cutting the sand and leaving a long groove in her footsteps. Her eyes focused on the boy she had spotted earlier picking up trash, and she stood still a distance to consider him for a few moments.

"Lucas," she called quietly from where she stood. She continued her trek closer and dropped her bag on its side, her muscles burning too much to support it any longer. Her volume lowered to its usual murmur.

"Are you O-K? You have been captured by the ocean for a long time."

Lucas continued to look at the ocean with glassy eyes. Even in uncomfortable conditions, it was nice be able to think about nothing. The salty air had masked her fishy scent and Lucas had been relatively zoned out for the past five minutes, he wouldn't have noticed her if she hadn't spoken up. His body felt frozen-- in a literal sense, everything was so stiff-- he regretted staying still . All he could really do was crane his neck and awkwardly glance over.

" Captured? " He chuckled as she approached him. " Nah, I'm fine". Usually, Lucas would be troubled knowing that he was being watched, but this was Aimouryllice whom he had come to learn worked in very strange ways.

" What's in that bag?" Lucas asked through chittering teeth, pointing over to the unusually heavy bag. " Are you picking up trash? Because that's what I was doing too until I uh, got distracted. The ocean is cool, so I wanted to help. Guess I should of brought a jacket."

When the burning feeling in her arms faded, Aimouryllice knelt down and opened up the bag. Various pieces of trash tumbled out of it after a small shake, landing in a small pile next to the large one. She turned her head away to avoid catching the smell that always came with it, that which had masked her flowery scent whenever she cleaned. What was the human saying? It was a 'necessary evil?'

"Trash," she murmured. "Trash is always here even when we pick it up. It is strange, and I wonder why the people here do not want their home to be clean."

After making sure her bag was completely empty, she pulled it closed and stood up straight to face him. "Lucas, thank you for helping us. If you are cold, do you want me to help you? I have a haori nearby that you may wear to keep warm."
