Laetus stared blankly for a moment, an expression of confusion, but this was soon replaced with slowly growing laughter until he had fallen back on the couch laughing. What a weird end to the moment.

Maddie laughed with him, glad that the tension was snapped all at once. She wasn't good with stress. Or serious moments. Or...possibly anything.

"I was kind of thinking..." she trailed off, turning to watch the tv as she grabbed her hot chocolate and took a sip. "That maybe you hadn't been interested in kissing me. So, I wanted to find out."

Laetus sat up again, giving her a confused look. He would pick up his cup and lean on her, his cheek up to hers, wearing an exaggerated pouty face. "Why would you think something like that?" His expression was a joke, but there was legitimate confusion in his question.

"I-I don't know!" It was a total lie. That was clear by the high ring of her voice.

She tried to look away, drinking from her cup again. Silence was nice. Silence was good.

Laetus seemed unconvinced. Still, he would soon smile again. "Well, if thats the case..." He kissed her cheek, then leaned back with his cup, taking a nonchalant sip. "I'll just have to do it more often till I convince you, won't I?"

"Well, I...y-you..." Maddie took another gulp of her drink until it was gone.

At this moment, Bandit was done sniffing around and jumped up on the couch. More so on Laetus' lap than the couch. He didn't want to get near the mean, sleeping lizard.

"You want some mo--oof." He was cut off by Bandit laying claim to his lap. Nearly spilled his drink too. Laetus laughed and pet the dogs head. "Careful, pup. I could'a spilled this on you."

Bandit curled as much as he could, content. He would not move. Poor Laetus.

Maddie scooted closer and laid her head on Laetus' shoulder.

"Do you have any cool fairy stories?"

She imagined he must, right? being a fairy and all...

Surrendering to the dog, Laetus portaled his cup back onto the table, laying one hand on Bandit, and putting the other around Maddie.
"Fairy stories?" He questioned. To him, such stories could mean anything from getting up in the morning and trying to find his socks, to the time he and his friends found a gryphon in their forest... What did humans find interesting and magical? That was probably what she wanted, right?
"Um... Oh! So... I was a little thief as a kid. Being trapped in the forest, it was all I could do to get glimpses of the outside. Occasionally, I'd find these really cool books with lots of pictures. One of them, I think it was the same series my mask is from..." He wasn't still wearing it. When did he take it off? Did it end up muddy too? The world may never know.
"It was a story about a little boy that traveled time using this really cool looking sword. Well, he had this fairy friend who was depicted as a little sprite who would help guide him. So, next time a lost wanderer came around, I turned into a little sprite, complete with glow, and started guiding him around the forest. But the fairy would never stop stating the obvious, so I told him things like 'Don't trip on that rock' or say 'Don't wake the gryphon.' loud enough to wake them until he ran away from me." Laetus laughed. "At least he was running in the right direction.

"Navi and Link!" Maddie cheered, giggling. "Do you ever miss being back home with your friends? You seem really happy here."
