Early one morning, Maddie would awaken to a large gold ring in the middle of her room, crisp, cool morning air drifting through it. A familiar hand would beckon her to enter, then pass back through again.
Once passed through, she would find herself in a forest clearing, the sound of birds singing their morning song echoing all around her. Ahead of her, perched on a tall flat topped rock sat a familiar figure, wearing a colorful mask on the side of his head, and holding something small and blue to his mouth. As if cued by her arrival, he began playing.

Maddie swore she was in a dream. She must have been right? Then again, this was Laetus and with him, anything was outrageous enough to feel like a dream.

But like as if this were a dream, Maddie danced. She threw her arms around and jumped from foot to foot. It was terrible dancing, but she was having fun. Enough fun that she forgot she was still in only her sleepwear: a plain blue t-shirt with the same color pajama bottoms. At least, she had opted to wear the bottoms before bed.

"What's all this?" she called out to him, her smile ear-to-ear.

When the song came to an end, Laetus smiled at her and stood up, springing from the rock and then slowly drifting down until he landed in front of her.
"Good morning, Cherry-chan." He chirped happily. The instrument in his hand was now close enough to identify as an ocarina.
"I wanted to show you this place. Isn't it great?" He asked, doing a quick turn around as if to confirm to himself that yes, it was indeed great.

"It's beautiful," she laughed. "But what time is it? How long have you been here?"

Maddie ran her hands through her hair when he wasn't looking at her, trying to fix it up.

"Um.... About 6?" He said unsure, checking a watch that wasn't there. "And... I don't know that either. Most of the night. At least after you went to bed." He yawned. "I is the nocturnal."

"How are you still up?"

Maddie stepped over to him, worried.

She couldn't help but to spare the land an awestruck glance. It was beautiful here. Peaceful and picture perfect.

Laetus shrugged. "Normally I sleep during some classes, so I usually don't sleep at night..." He thought for a moment. It seemed more difficult that usual. A side effect of his lack of sleep. "Today is.... Saturday, isn't it? No classes to sleep in... Oh well."

"You sleep in class?"

Yes, that is what Maddie focused on. Was Laetus a bad boy? What the hell is he?!

It was too early in the morning for this.

Laetus nodded. "Some of my classes are reeeeeaaally boring. I used to end up falling asleep anyway... Might be what pushed me to become nocturnal now that I think about it."

"Laetus, you can--"

Maddie sighed and gave a good-natured roll of her eyes.

"You're a silly guy. You really really are. So, what did you have in mind for us to do?"
