Laetus smiled and put his waffle down on the basket. He took out a water bottle and took a sip, then held his hand out and a portal dropped his ocarina into his hand. He brought it to his lips, but paused for a moment, seeming to be debating on the song to play before finally deciding and beginning.

Maddie slid off the rock to dance slowly to the music. She moved like a ballerina (or as close to a ballerina as Maddie could get).

When she laughed, it was full and child-like in how joyous it sounded. She couldn't stop grinning. She spun on one foot, arms raised above her head and together at a point.

At one point, she even cartwheeled. It was fortuitous that she was in her own world enough to not be blushing about having flashed him. Maddie was getting used to the idea of Laetus being oblivious to those things, however, and so may not have been bothered for that reason.

His eyes were usually closed as he played anyway. He watched some of her dancing, but focused on playing well since she was enjoying it so much. When the song ended, he let the sound reverberate for a while before it finally silenced. He looked down from the rock and smiled, absolutely thrilled that she liked his playing so much. He decided to simply begin the next song, as she seemed to be having fun.

now Maddie changed her dance to something one might find at a street fair. Part of her wished there were more people to dance with her, but she also knew she probably wouldn't have been dancing then.

She hummed with the tune quietly to herself, closing her eyes as she danced. Surprisingly, she didn't trip.

As Laetus played, clouds started to gather above the clearing, and it began to drizzle. Before he would notice, the drizzle would become full blown rain, cutting his song short.
"...Weird..." He mumbled before opening a portal at his side and plucking out the black umbrella from his apartment. He would quickly fly to her, opening the umbrella above her.
"That... came out of nowhere." He said with a sigh. "So much for the picnic..."
Another portal would open up, taking the picnic basket back to his place.

Maddie laughed harder when the rain poured down on her. By the time he'd get to her with the umbrella, she was nearly soaked through and shivering.

"I love the rain!"

Her hair clung to her face in wet strands as she grinned at him and took his arm. "C'mon, dance in the rain with me! It's super fun."

"Eh?" He questioned, seeing her shivering. That did sound fun though. He smiled and dropped the umbrella to his side, wrapping his arms around her. A perfect compromise, if he kept close, he could help keep her warm as they danced, or so he hoped. With that, he lifted her just off the ground, twirling in the air a few times before touching ground again.

Maddie threw her arms around his neck, squealing in delight as he swung her around. She wrapped her legs around his waist, peeking at the ground to make sure they weren't flying higher.

Upon landing on the ground, Maddie would unwrap herself from him with the knowledge that she wouldn't be falling on her face.

She tried to pull from his arms so she could skip around in the rain. It was cold, and she knew she'd be very cold after, but wasn't that how a person got toasty? They played in the rain and then the warmth of a home and blanket was all the better.

Laetus seemed unwilling to let her go, but she would manage to pull away. He tried to think of a way to get her out of the rain, but... No tricks. He was worried, but he couldn't do that again... Maybe he just worried too much. She was happy, having fun. He should simply enjoy the moment with her, right?
Leaving his train of thought, he smiled and joined her in skipping and dancing about through the rain.

Maddie tripped and landed on her butt as she was spinning around. It didn't seem to bother her, rather, she just lay back on the ground and stared at the sky as the rain came down down down.

"The ground is cold," she giggled. "I like it!"
