"Oh, um..." He nodded. "Alright, so... Laetus brought be to Paris about a year ago. He thought it'd encourage me to come here if I saw more of the world I think... Or maybe he just felt like it. He does stuff like that." He laughed. "Anyway, I see this big hotel, and I decide to check it out. I saw this movie about a haunted house and... Well, I started messing with people." He stuck his tongue out. "It was great! They don't have kitsune stories in France, so when I'd walk up to someone with my tails swaying, or transform into other people in front of them, it scared the hell out of them. Even better were my wisps. Float one around, and most people assume its some kind of ghost."
"Wisps?" Shay asked, unsure what he meant by such a thing. Shay had leaned forward and scooted closer to him. It felt weird to hear him say words like 'hell,' though she sometimes used them herself. It served to remind her that he wasn't her age, not really. Creepy. "You're kind of...like a bad boy, right?" she laughed. "You haven't pulled any pranks on me or anything recently. Is that 'cause we're friends?"
Shay stared at him. "Didn't you feel bad for scaring all those people? What ended up happening? They didn't call anyone, did they?"
"E-eh? Oh um..." He blushed a bit at all the attention, all the questions. "Um... Wisps are my fireballs. They look like spiritual will-o-wisps, so..." He moved on. "I dunno about bad. I mean I've never hurt anyone at least..." He clearly didn't know the terms actual meaning. "Lets see... lots of questions. Um... Yeah, I... I mean... I still prank Laetus but.. Somehow I don't think they'd be that fun for you. So I decided its just more fun doing other stuff with you." He smiled. "But... as for those other people..." His smile became a smirk. "I mean, not really. Adults threw fits, which was great. Kids thought I was funny or interesting, and the hotel staff went crazy trying to figure me out!" He laughed again. "It was a few days before Laetus finally got me to leave... He told me later they gave him a free hotel room after that... Like, forever. I must have really been driving them crazy..." His smile became peaceful again, rather than the smirk he was bearing. "They had... really comfy beds there."
"Okay," Shay said, sitting, so she was shoulder to shoulder with Kenta. "Lemme think. I don't have a lot of fun or interesting stories." She smiled when he smirked; it looked like an expression he was comfortable wearing. She reached over and gently poked his cheek.
"I honestly can't think of anything to top that, Kenta," she laughed. "I mostly sit around reading books. Sometimes I write, though, and I like jogging around the track at school. I people watch, too. Seems other kids are walking up to me a lot recently...which is..." she rose a hand and made the so-so sign. "I even met a girl named Mansmasher3000."
That last part... He looked at her like she was crazy. "I... In the short time I've been here, I never really question anything but... Did someone.... Really name their kid 'Mansmasher3000'? That seems..."
Shay giggled. "Her father had this model airplane with that name, apparently he liked it enough to name his daughter after it. Anyway, she's pretty nice, a little shy."
"He sounds... eccentric." He said with a forced laugh. "Um... Maybe a nickname would help her get out of her shell? Or more friends? I kinda wanna meet the girl with a name like that."
"I just call her 3000. Seems a ton easier." Shay rested her head on his shoulder and breathed in deeply. "Oh! Um, I met a mafia guy, well former mafia. Also a gang leader, so there is that. I guess those things were interesting?"
Kenta closed his eyes, peace on his face. Something about having her so close was... relaxing. And things like this made him realize how comfortable she had become with him. It made him happy. His ease became unsettled however, replaced with concern when she mentioned these gang leaders...former... whatever. "Um... How did you meet people like that, Shay-shay? Aren't people like that... dangerous?"
"Well, one of them is a police officer now. he helped me when the tsunami came around. And the gang leader, Klaus Rosales, he's super nice." She closed her eyes, relaxing against him. "He got me ice cream. I mean, I guess they're dangerous if you give them a reason to be, but what would any of them want from me?"
