Focusing...

"Mm..." Kenta fell on his back and let out a defeated sigh. "You're right, I probably couldn't focus much now anyway... My eye changed color though. Why would he do that?... Even when I transform into other people, my eyes stay the same... That one I'll have to remember..." He thought for a moment, then sat up again. "Feel like taking a walk?" He asked as he hopped to his feet. "I've been sitting still for so long, I'm surprised my legs aren't asleep...." He smiled and held his hand out to her.

Shay wasn't sure about his sudden burst of energy, but she smiled somewhat and reached out to take his hand and let him help her to her feet. As was normal for them now, she held his hand as they walked. It was still sunny, if not a little too bright for Shay's liking.

The forest was teeming with life. Birds chirped, mice scurried, and for off in the distance twigs snapped with other creatures and people wandering the woods. Shay breathed in slowly, her grip on him tightening. She was finding that she liked holding hands. She wasn't a particularly touchy-feely person, but it was one of the only forms of physical contact Shay could have (so long as she or they wore gloves), so it felt special to her.

As they walked, Shay relaxed more and even began speaking animatedly about a few of her classmates. She mentioned a girl by the name of Melony Kalven, whom Shay had an intense disliking for. "She just thinks she's soooo special and great. And she lies all the time. I know she does but I can't prove it."

If she was paying attention, she would notice his ears twitch with every broken twig or footstep he heard. He didn't seem to be paying them much mind though if his expression was any indication. He had his usual simple smile on, though it seemed to fade into thoughts as she went on about this 'Melony' person. "What does she lie about?" He asked, tilting his head. "Is she really a bad person? Because..." He smirked. "I'm not bad at revenge." He told her. "Firecrackers in a locker, bucket of ice water on her head... Oh, paint bombs are fun if she's really bad." He paused for a moment, then added. "Or... I can turn into other people. I mentioned its not perfect but... Maybe we could catch her in a lie?"

Shay giggled maniacally at the idea of Melony covered in paint. "She'd hate being covered in paint. She takes her appearance very serious." Shay rolled her eyes. "She lies about meeting certain people, or how far she's gone. Silly unprovable stuff like that. I guess it shouldn't bug me; she's just such an arrogant jerk. And she always has to get her way, 'cause if she doesn't she whines and whines."

Shay deadpanned. It was then she noticed his ears continued twitching. "Are you okay? Are you still on edge?" Her irritation quickly turned to worry as she looked around. Was he noticing something she wasn't?

He tilted his head. "How far she's gone?" He asked. "Has she said she's been to Japan? I could just call her out on a lie like that." The way she put it, he didn't like this girl either. A whiny brat who had to get her way... Paint bombs would be fun, but proving she was a liar might silence her.
When she pointed out his ears, he shrugged. "It... Just happens. After the incident in the woods, I can't help it. They just tune into things automatically... On the up side, noone can sneak up on us."

Shay's cheeks reddened. "Uh, well, no. I don't mean she lies about going places though I'm sure she has. I mean she lies about how much she's kissed and stuff." Shay looked at his ear and reached up with her opposite hand to gently pinch the one closest to her. They looked soft, and she liked soft, fluffy things.

"O-oh..." He blushed a bit, mostly from his ignorance, though not entirely. This worsened when she grabbed his ear. He stopped in his tracks, seemingly debilitated by this simple action. His ears were almost as soft as his tails, which were swaying back and forth similar to a happy dogs.

Shay had assumed if she pinched his ear it might hurt him, but he seemed to like it. When he stopped moving, she removed her hand as her smile turned shy. "Sorry. Fur is one of the only things I can touch without a glove, so, I kind of like it." Not that she had taken off her glove to touch his ear, just in case.

It took him a moment to collect himself after she let go. "I um... Oh, n-no, its fine... Felt kinda nice actually..." He mumbled the last part shyly.

"Huh?' Shay was feeling the beginning of discomfort in her stomach. After talking about things like kissing, his stating that touching his ear felt good made her wonder what type of good he was referring to. She gently tugged her hand from his, smiled tersely, and went on walking.
