The forest was teeming with life. Birds chirped, mice scurried, and for off in the distance twigs snapped with other creatures and people wandering the woods. Shay breathed in slowly, her grip on him tightening. She was finding that she liked holding hands. She wasn't a particularly touchy-feely person, but it was one of the only forms of physical contact Shay could have (so long as she or they wore gloves), so it felt special to her.
As they walked, Shay relaxed more and even began speaking animatedly about a few of her classmates. She mentioned a girl by the name of Melony Kalven, whom Shay had an intense disliking for. "She just thinks she's soooo special and great. And she lies all the time. I know she does but I can't prove it."

Shay deadpanned. It was then she noticed his ears continued twitching. "Are you okay? Are you still on edge?" Her irritation quickly turned to worry as she looked around. Was he noticing something she wasn't?

When she pointed out his ears, he shrugged. "It... Just happens. After the incident in the woods, I can't help it. They just tune into things automatically... On the up side, noone can sneak up on us."
