"S-shay, that..." He winced a bit at the grip she had on his shoulder. It still hadn't fully healed from the bite days before. "My... My eye? K-kieuseru... I..."
Shay released him and leaned away. Why was he stuttering so much? Was he about to cry again? Had she hurt him? "Do you know what that means?" Her voice was less terse when she spoke next.
Kenta sat up and rolled his shoulder. "My... head hurts... Kieuseru... Means die, or disappear... But my eye? What..." He winced in pain and put his hand over his eye. The pain distracted him for a moment, then realized his cheek was wet. "I-i .." He looked at her with his uncovered blue eye, still full of confusion. "I was... crying again..."
"Yeah..." Shay said, picking up his blade and handing it to him. "So, I guess you don't remember what happened this time either?" She wished she didn't sound so bitter about it. She just couldn't help it.
"No... Sorry..." He said meekly. He slipped the sheath over the blade and retracted it back into his sleeve. His other hand was still on his eye. "My... It hurts a lot though... Behind my eye..." He told her. "You said it.... Something about my eye... What was it?"
"It changed color," Shay said, distracted. She leaned forward, raising herself on her knees, and held his face to inspect his eye. "Hold still so I can look at it." She was glad the sharpness was out of her voice, but it wasn't particularly warm yet.
"O-oh, um..." He moved his hand. His eye was shut from the pain, but he slowly managed to open it. Nothing was particularly wrong with it. a little redness, but it made sense since he was crying earlier. Other than that, it was his normal green eye.
He nodded. "A really bad headache... Its starting to fade. Hurt like hell though." He shook his head and blinked a few times. "Can't be a coincidence, my eye changing color and hurting... So... My eye... means something...." He grimaced and let out a groan. "Why does every clue lead to more questions?" He asked, not expecting a real answer. He held his face in his hands and shook again in frustration. "UGH! This is only confusing me more!
"Maybe the color change was him?" Shay sat back, reaching up tentatively to rub her sore shoulder. It was hurting. She knew she hadn't torn the stitching, but there was a sharp pain to the wound that was bothering her. She tried to ignore it. "I'm sorry Kenta. I don't know what else to do. I guess all we can do it keep trying. Maybe you should rest for now, though? Being frustrated isn't going to help."
