After a long morning and part of the afternoon unpacking, Lyra decided to relax in one of the only places she felt peace--the forest. Shaded by the trees, she sprawled out on a rock and stretched. She had her bow and arrow on her back, in case she decided to practice for fun on some of the trees. She wondered about how college life would be here. She hoped it would be different then her former schooling--maybe she would actually find people to interact well with for once. At least no one had made fun of her ears yet.

Her long dark hair swayed in front of her face as a breeze softly rolled through the leaves, while she remained in thought. Closing her eyes, she tried to relax but there was so much to think about. She was unsure of what to do next. She hadn't really met anyone still, and she knew deep down she should probably be trying to--but the place for that would be closer to the grounds, not in the woods. She tried to take a breath and listen to the sounds of the woods, but her mindless worrying kept her uneasy. She let out a soft sigh, opening her eyes again.

Regardless, she stood up slowly, and readied her bow and arrow. She took aim at a decently distanced tree, then waited for the breeze to die down. Her teal and brown dress faintly fluttered and once it completely stopped, she fired her first shot. It bounced off at a weird angle, and so she took another arrow and shot again.

This was Lyra's way of killing time, and taking worries off her mind. She didn't want to think about her new classes, and new classmates yet. It was all unavoidable but she wanted to avoid it as long as she possibly could.

After a day of doing stuff, Katsuo was performing one of his favourite pastimes; playing around with his shadow constructs. The woods were a great place to do exactly that, with abundant shade that allowed him to create constructs with ease. The refreshing breeze was another reason he chose the woods. He tapped into the void and started extracting solidifiable black energy from the trees' shadows, before shaping it into a miniature cat. He repeated the process a few times, ending up with a vast collection of miniature shadow animal figures. The group consisted of a dog, a duck, a dragon, a cat, a nine tailed fox and a turtle. He spent a few minutes admiring his work.

His musing was interrupted by a sudden, sharp sound. He turned to see an arrow stuck on a nearby tree. Somewhat curious to find out where the source of the arrow was hiding, he lifted his guard a little and scanned the area. After covering a metre's distance he was able to make out a lone figure standing on a rock. He was right behind a tree and was ready to dodge should she have been aiming at him, keeping a calm, casual stature the whole time.

Lyra had about 6 arrows left until she had to go recollect them all. Some would probably be lost and she would have to make more, but that happened from time to time. It was a normal thing she had gotten used to doing. She wondered if anyone around the school knew how to make arrows as well, or even conjure them perhaps. She lingered on the thought for a moment. So many people at this school and all of them did things she had no idea of yet. It was a little exciting, in all honesty. Even though she hadn't tried to speak to anyone yet, she knew that everyone here had their own stories. She was eager to hear them.

There was another side to this that she overlooked previously. Other students would want to know her story as well. That made her heart cave in slightly, and a rush of anxiety coursed through her sharply. The idea of telling them about her powers made her feel conflicted. There was no getting around this though--someone would figure it out eventually. Lyra would have to fight the fears of old memories tearing at her. She would not stand to be afraid forever. At least, not about telling her story. The black out probably won't repeat itself from just speaking... She shook her head and cleared her mind. She wanted to focus.

However, just before releasing another arrow, Lyra aimed directly at the center of one tree. She decided she was going to blindfire it--just to see how close to the center she would actually get. This would spice it up for sure. Her aim is almost always head on, but the arrows weren't all sticking in these trees today. The bark was either different then the ones from home, or her arrows were dulled and therefore not sticking.

She closed her eyes and held her breath, until she felt completely still. After a moment of pause, she fired, and she waited for the thud of the hit.

Katsuo paused for a few minutes, waiting for something to happen, but nothing did. He turned invisible and peered towards the girl. She had her arrow ready, pointing at the three he was hiding behind. He quickly ducked behind the tree again, shortly before hearing another thud. Hmm. That was when he came up with an idea. The woods were rather difficult to sneak around in, due to the noise one's steps would make. Taking advantage of this, he found a rock and threw it a few meters beside the tree. He didn't want to take drastic measures, but he wanted to see if the girl was aiming at a specific living thing. If so, he would become intangible and escape the area. If his assumption was correct, and she was just practicing, then he would make his presence known to her. He peered forward to see if the girl would aim at the area at which can he threw the rock.

Lyra's eyes shot open, and she slowly lowered her bow and arrow after she heard a shuffle behind the tree she had aimed at. She imagined maybe she had scared a bunny, or some other forest animal. She frowned slightly, as that wasn't her intention. She leaned her bow against the rock, and she hopped off and carefully walked over to the tree.

Her eyes scanned around the forest floor. She didn't see any animals at all. She bit her lip and could only assume they had already scampered off deeper into the woods. Lyra hoped she didn't accidentally bump anything with her practice. While she was by the tree, she decided she would collect her arrows. It was probably enough archery for one day anyway.

Lyra slumped against the tree and inspected her ammo. The edges were dull, and so maybe that's why they would not stick. She would fix them up later and next time the bouncing of arrows won't scare some harmless creatures.

Just as she was about to walk back towards her bow--Lyra heard another sound. It sounded like a leaf crunch. At this point, it could just be the wind, or maybe Lyra was paranoid. She stood up and peered around the tree, and with a whisper she spoke. "Hello..?"

Katsuo waited behind the tree, watching to see how the girl would react. After a minute or so, his assumptions were confirmed. Another classic example of the way his training had made him overly cautious in these kinds of situations. The ninja in training relaxed his guard completely and deactivated his invisibility right in front of the girl.

"My sincerest apologies for startling you, miss. I was the one who made those sounds. I tend to get overly cautious when I sense potential danger around me, and I had to be sure that wasn't the case."

He extended his hand for a handshake. After all, even an encounter such as this called for a proper introduction.
"My name's Sadaharu Katsuo, by the way. Katsuo is my given name. It's a pleasure."

"eeeEYAH!" Lyra breathed out in surprise. She had not expected someone to appear right in front of her. She relaxed for a second after realizing it was just another student. A first encounter for her, and it was dramatic of course.

"Oh! I'm sorry I didn't mean to yelp. Ahaha... Hello Katsuo, nice to meet you. I'm Lyra, and it's no problem." She smiled sweetly, and shook his hand that was aimed towards her. She tried to ready herself for conversation. Something she didn't have too much of yet. Lyra wondered why Katsuo was also in the woods.

"What... brings you out here? I haven't really seen anyone else around." She questioned. Of all the places for her to have her first conversation, the forest wasn't that high on the list. She wanted to act normal. She tugged at her gloves gently, making sure they were on tight. Lyra was nervous and wanted to try to make a new friend, even in the out of the ordinary circumstance.

This interaction with Katsuo should be interesting. He had snowy white hair that gleamed, even in the shade of all the trees somehow. She pondered about what his powers might be--considering they could be anything. This really might be the place for her after all. She silently thanked her guardians in her head, for allowing her to have this unique chance at realistic social interactions--because after all, the abnormal understand abnormal, right?

((OOC: Sorry for the confusion, but Katsuo's actually a human. Here's what he looks like. Again, sorry about that xD))

"What brings me here?"

She had a point. He wouldn't have found this sort of encounter to be normal either, so it was only natural she'd be wondering what he was doing here.

"I come here sometimes when I want to relax. I was just playing around with my powers."

To demonstrate, he pulled some pitch-black dark energy from one of the many shadows granted by the trees. It quickly took the form of a small turtle, the size of a toy, and solidified. He then handed it to Lyra.

((OOC: omg BIG sorry about the wrong description, I clicked on the wrong link and spaced out, I was super tired when I wrote that, I fixed it up now. XD — also holy CRAP your character is cute I feel like Lyra's going to like him ^-^;;))

Lyra watched in fascination as Katsuo drew some--what could only be described as darkness, to him and soon enough shaped it into a turtle. He held it out to her and Lyra gently took it into her hands. It felt normal? It still weighed something even made from shade, and it was adorable!

"Holy.. wow! That's so cool! And this is totally cute!" Lyra said with a rush of excitement, examining the turtle further. She pet the small thing a a natural reflex as if it were alive, and continued speaking.

"What kinds of things can you make with that? How long do they last? Oh. Sorry for the questions I'm really enthused. I haven't met anybody here yet so you're the first." Lyra softly smiled with more nervousness, as her cheeks flushed a little bit.

She sincerely was interested but didn't want to play 20 questions with every person she met. Not everyone would just want to sit around and talk about their power for hours, and so she wanted to try and not overstep bounds by accident.

Just then a thought crossed her mind. What if he asked her about her powers? He might think they are archery related somehow, but that's far from the truth. Lyra would have to find strength in herself, if that question came up later. She had prepared for this earlier, and she would really like to make a friend.

((It's totally fine! After reading that I just thought since I had the picture of a grey skinned alien that it might have been confusing. xD. is it bad that I find Lyra cute too what was that? ...must have been the wind. >.> i also totally support your statement man it must be windy out huh? <.<))

A warm smile escaped Katsuo's mouth as he witnessed her reaction to his creation. It was pleasing that she liked it so much.

"I'm glad you like it, haha." He couldn't help it; he probably looked like a little kid who just have their mother a drawing at this point. He tried his best to keep his composure as Lyra questioned him about the way his power works.

"Don't worry about it. I don't mind your questioning me at all." He started. "About my power. I can create any basic solid object really, given that the shadow is large enough and I have sufficient energy to do so. As for their duration, they could last a while, assuming they're kept away from direct sunlight."
