Nariko doubted that. People like her couldn't have futures. She had cat ears, broken wings, gray skin, two oddly colored eyes... what future was there for her? She didn't really have an education either. "If you say so..." she said, not going to argue her own feelings.

"So, um... what floor is your room on?" she asked quietly.

Dani counted silently on her fingers. "One.... six...eight... I'm on the eleventh floor!" she said happily, looking up the long staircase. "It's a long walk, but I've made the dorm extremely homey. It looks just like my old bedroom. And you've got the perfect view of the ocean. When the sun is angled just right, the water and sky merge beautifully." She sighed and looked out the window. "Oh, we'd better hurry or we'll miss it." Dani said, starting up the stairs.
