Nariko listened to the lecture and sighed inaudibly, just taking it. There was no point in arguing. She didn't want to upset this person. She didn't want Dani to do what her mother and so many other students here at done to her. "Ok..." she said meekly.

At the mention of best friend, though, Nariko's ears perked up and she looked surprised. "Best friend?" she questioned quietly, wondering if she had misunderstood.

Dani nodded. "Best friend as in BFF, BFFL, BFFAFL..." she said, kinda not getting the point. Then it sprang to her. "Oh... You've never had a best friend, have you?" she said softly.

Nariko listened as Dani went on and on with the abbreviations. She blinked, not understanding. Her powers had developed when she was still just a little, little girl, and once that happened, not many people wanted to be around her. Plus, with therapy and what not, people thought she was crazy.

When never having a best friend was finally mentioned, the winged girl slowly nodded her head. "Never..." she told quietly. "A few friends... acquaintances... but... a best friend... never..." She looked away, slightly ashamed of herself.

Dani blinked a bit, then hugged Nariko, being sure to avoid hurting her wings. "Well, you have one now!" she said happily, being happy that sdhe was making her friend's life a bit easier. Nariko could tell anything to Dani, and she would take it to the grave. Thats what best friends are for!

Nariko instantly froze when she was hugged. It felt nice to be hugged, but at the same time... she was so afraid Dani was going to grab her wings and hurt her. Four years of abuse with a childhood of lies was more than enough to make one as shy and fearful as Nariko was.

"Ok..." she said quietly, slowly getting off of the heater and standing on the floor. She wasn't very tall — only about five feet. "So I guess... to the hospital wing?"

Dani let go and grinned and let go, standing back up. she put her arm carefully around Nariko's shoulder. "Onward!" she said, starting to walk out of the door and guide Nariko to the Hospital Wing.

Dani gave her a reassuring pat. "Don't worry, the nurses here are very nice. I'm sure they've seen much worse. Don't worry, I'll be here the entire time!" She smiled and walked up to a nurse. "Excuse me, but could you please attend to my friend here? Her wings are damaged." the nurse smiled and nodded.

Nariko wasn't so sure. The hugging and the touching didn't help her at all... she was so very unsure. What if the doctors here turned out to hurt her even more?

The nurse looked at Nariko's wings. It would be hard, but she would try. She helped the bleeding teenager up onto one of the tables and put on a pair of gloves, giving her a pain killer and beginning to work on her wings.

Nariko whimpered and shook slightly, since the pain killer hadn't kicked in yet. She looked to Dani, fear in her eyes. Her bangs had brushed aside a bit and her black, blind eye was finally visible.

Hopefully she wouldn't be thought of as a freak.

Dani took out a piece of gum and started chewing it, sitting down and taking no notice of Nariko's black eye. She didn't really mind. She watched the nurse do her thing and gave her friend a reassuring nod. She knew she was probably scared and not sure of this, but Dani knew that she could push through if she tried.
