A thump. A thud. A grunt. And then things crashing.

"STAY OUT FUCKING ASSHOLE!!!"

Deith has been doing his job with... a bit too much strictness. He had just kicked a third guy out of the building, for talking too much during a fight, and, Deith figured he was going to cheat. There was no way he'd allow that.

He clapped the guy's filth off his hands as he went back inside. And then he wiped it on the side of his t-shirt, smearing a little red over gray. His blood was rushing to his head, he knew he had to cool off somehow but handling the Fight Club was so stressful.

Walking through the hallway, he spotted Ardos. His co-enforcer. Suddenly, Deith's blood came rushing to another part of his body, his head instantly cooling despite his racing heartbeat. He grinned and walked towards the drow, approaching him from the side and putting an arm around his shoulders casually.

"How's the job? Hope you're not throwing people out like me 'cause damn, that's seriously tiring," he... greeted. It was his strange hobby to bother Ardos.

Tonight's body count:

Six thrown out.

Two necks broken.

Two cigarettes, and the self-respect that came with it.

That was the deal with shady jobs. You have to kill yourself a little inside to be able to stomach it night after night. Ardos didn't love himself, but he took pride that he could do what he needed to be done, no matter the costs. He watched a man knee another man's teeth out of their face, and he felt nothing, not sympathy or disgust. All he was, was vigilant.

With another kick to the face, the last round on this ring came to a close. Ardos tapped the bottom of his cigarette case to pull out a stick and taste it with his tongue. The brief flicker of his lighter irritated his eyes for a moment, but pretty soon he was inhaling enough smoke to relax his aching muscles.

He stiffened up again when he felt an arm around his shoulders. Ardos flashed Deith a heated glare, more out of habit than anything rather than actual hatred. Also out of habit, he raised his case to offer Deith a cigarette if he wanted one.

Maybe it was the loneliness talking, but he didn't mind a pretty boy touching him.

"Taxing," he said, curt as always. "Do you need anything?"

Deith gladly took an offered cigarette and put it in his mouth. And Ardos' habitual glare always made him laugh, somehow it was enough help taking some of the heaviness in his body away.

"What if--" he made a couple of seconds' pause, "--I said that you're what I need?" And then he shot the drow a smirk, moving the cigarette on his lips. "Also, I need a light."

He grabbed the lighter, but he didn't use it. Instead he held Ardos' chin and turned it to him more, before touching the end of Ardos' cigarette with his, breathing in expertly to get it lit with just that. He pulled away afterwards, puffing some smoke in the air before breathing in slightly deeper. The smoke felt warm in his lungs, it was perfect after a tiring night.

He took his cig between two fingers. "Thanks," he said, the smoke coming out of his lips and nose. "Please don't reject me, Ardos... It's been a busy night and I feel lonely."

Ardos felt his face heat up with the... rather intimate gesture. He didn't want Deith to sense that he was embarrassed as all hell, so he stiffened up, taking a long inhale of his cigarette and puffing out a tiny cloud. It wasn't that Deith was unattractive. It was just —

Something about Deith felt incredibly dishonest, really. He was a spider. Ardos didn't want to get caught up in his web. He liked to think he was smarter than that.

"I'd say you probably need food or water, and maybe a cold shower. You're tired. So am I."

Ardos flicked his cigarette to shake off the ash forming at the end of the stick, frowning at Deith.

"What kind of messed up game are you playing, Deith?"

Deith furrowed his brows, took a step back, and put his free hand over his chest. He looked surprised and hurt, but the grin couldn't leave his lips despite his effort to remove it, giving away that he was playing pretend.

"You think I'm playing a game? You wound me, Ardos." He was shaking his head as if in disbelief. He, however, really was playing a game, trying to tease Ardos for fun's sake, and mostly because the drow's reactions, and his attempt to hide them, was so fun to watch he wanted to see more. It was a strange hobby, indeed. And Deith could feel his tired body relaxing over this.

Deith broke his stare and looked straight in front of him as he took another inhale from his cig and puffing it out afterwards. "Maybe I do need food," he mostly feeds on lust, "but I'm pretty sure a cold shower's something I won't need until later. How about some whiskey instead of water? Ardos let's go to a bar, my treat. You're tired too, no?"

He wrapper an arm around Ardos' shoulders again, as if he's already decided not to let him go. And drag him along if he ever says no.

The shit-eating grin basically just confirmed he was playing a game.

Ardos had a massive frown as he listened to him. Stupid, goddamn no-good pretty boys, what if Ardos force-fed him a bee-hive and his own ass, maybe then it'd make more sense that he was spewing honey-flavored bullshit right at him.

Ardos was too smart, too bitter, to fall prey to predatory spiders.

So, why was he hesitating?

Maybe it was because the predatory spider had nice lips, and the smart, bitter man was terribly lonely. The last fight on his arenas was concluded, and the sun was coloring the sky a lighter shade of blue. Ardos put out his cigarette, threw it in a nearby bin and sighed.

"Fine," he said, with a sharp tone to let Deith know that he was only tentatively considering this. "I could use a drink so long as you're buying."

"Of course I'm buying!" Deith let out a laugh and grabbed Ardos closer. He'd drag him through the hallways, going back inside only to check on how things were wrapping up.

Everything was eventually done and Deith practically dragged Ardos with him on a way to a nearby bar. He was glad the drow agreed to come with him, even though he sounded like he was being forced, because Deith believed Ardos was just trying to resist him even though he knew he can't.

The place was secluded. It was an hour before dawn, and while there were lots of people still drinking in bars, this secluded one didn't have too many customers for the hour. It was just a few minutes' walk from the slums, and a few stairs up a building. There was slow rock music playing, a couple of people here and there. Deith decided to go for the counter so they can order their drinks and get it with less delay.

"Thanks for the company, Ardos," he said as they settled down. His voice was soft for the moment, though he planned to tease Ardos soon enough.

Thanks for the company, he said.

Tch.

"Yeah, yeah," he said dismissively as he settled on a seat next to Deith's, telling the bartender his order — cold, hard whiskey. He glanced at Deith once. "He's paying."

The bartender, while irate with people still coming in when it's almost last call, served them their drinks with haste. Ardos downed the whiskey in one go, and felt his insides burn like fire. He shook his head, eyes closed. The burning sensation climbed up to his head because of course it did. When the alcohol settled, he exhaled, the fire being replaced with a fluttering, tingling sensation crawling around his body like tiny ants.

"Another one."

The bartender gave him a worried glance before giving him another glass. He only touched it with lightly with his fingers.

"I have a hard time believing you're lonely."

Deith ordered a really cold vodka-based drink with lemonade after Ardos said his. He would laugh at the atmosphere the bartender was giving, but he decided to let it go.

He drank his drink at a steady pace, letting the warmth of the alcohol spread through his body slowly, so he'd feel it more dramatically. No need to get drunk, the mere warmth the alcohol brought was enough to sooth him.

And probably to make him feel other things.

He was definitely not going to take a cold shower yet.

"Hmm. Do I look that cheerful to you?" Why else would Ardos think he wasn't lonely? He rested his arm on the counter and rested his chin on his hand, turning to Ardos more with that devious smile on his face. His eyes were half-lidded in an almost very skilled manner for attracting preys and predators. He chuckled.

"I am lonely, Ardos. At least, my body is."

Inhale.

That was a nice face, all things considered.

Ardos smushed Deith's face with his hand and pushed it away, because Ardos' solution to everything is getting physical.

"You're in luck. The floozies outside might give you a discount because the sun's almost up."
