A slightly overweight girl patrolled the halls, her dark and unrecognizable eyes scanning around the corridors, but inable to focus on anything, all the dropbear knew is that it wanted food, and currently was making its way, rather proudly, towards the cafeteria. Today it wore its hair in a fishtail braid, but as if it made the girl any less fearsome, in the halls she was avoided like the plague, eyes filled with curiosity, yet fear watched the girl with the koala ears twitching.

Then her nose caught the sense of the special in the cafeteria as she got closer, something salty, some-what bland but I’d have to do, of course the cafeteria was crowded by the time she reached the entrance, and the girls bouncy mood faltered, she quickly scampered her way on top of a few tables to get a better view of the specials board, scaring away a few people, but the female didn’t care as she stood there, trying to peer at the board on her tiptoes.

What was on the board caused the female to grimace, some type of foul pizza flavor? The bear had nothing against the pizza in general, it was just the way it sounded, ‘le anchoive cross blah’, okay dropbear’s reading skills were not up to scratch so it all was blurred, but to her that’s what it looked like.

And now here the grey-brown haired pudgy girl was, jumping table to table looking for something delectable to borrow, off somebody with a giving heart, or just somebody who she found interesting enough to steal from.

Doing her best to go unnoticed, a small girl timidly navigated the crowd in the cafeteria. Emily kept her head down as she avoided running into people, her tray held close to her. She had already gotten her food, a variety of samples decorating the tray, a slice of anchovy pizza, a small salad with ranch, a mini chicken sandwich, an orange freeze, and a tapioca pudding.

She eventually found her way to a table in the back where she would be more or less alone. Ideally this spot would give her enough space that the taste of the emotions from everyone wouldn't be a problem, but she had a whole bunch of flavors just in case. She settled in and started with a bite of her pizza, this would be the easiest because the saltiness of the anchovies would decently overpower the taste of boredom and idle happiness that covered most of the room.

The pounding sound of someone climbing on the tables startled her, and she dropped the slice back onto it's plate as she jumped with an "eep!" She looked around to see dropbear scouting out the room, heading in her direction.

Emily tried to make herself smaller and smaller as the odd creature came bounding towards her, eventually dropping onto her table and snatching a thing of her tray. She fidgeted frantically in her seat as she tried to think of what to do. "...U-Um... H-Hello... I-I'm Emily... W-What's y-your name?"

Dropbear nommed on the girls food, right now interesting in stomaching the pudding from the girls plate, her eyes narrowed in concentration, that was broken when the female who was supplying her lunch started to speak. Dropbear was concerned for her, nobody talked to dropbear, most ran, so Dropbear stopped chewing on its pudding and leaned closer to her, its ear twitching and braid swinging over its shoulder.

“I’m experiment four point seven, dropbear.”

That was all the… girl looking thing… had to say before it went back to eating, only pausing a moment to grab another snack of the girls plate, humming in delight as she started on the girls chicken sandwich, before it adjusted its position ontop of the table to a more… Appropriate (?) crossed-legged manner, enjoying its little hunger pang.

The female infront of her seemed frantic, so Dropbear leaned its head on its hand, chewing with the other, and giggled.

“Love your sandwich, very tasty.”

This was the best it could do at socializing at the moment, as it started drooling, the reminder food was its top priority was something it had to remember as it continued swallowing the girls sandwich, at least this victim wasn’t troublesome, it wasn’t as if dropbear was hurting it! Dropbear chuckled midst a bite of food, covering its mouth with one greyish hand for a moment before returning to the food, its eyes narrowing at the sight of the pizza she was chewing on.

Disgusting! How could the girl stoumach that! Dropbear wanted to smack it out of her hand, oh it did, that pizza was doing nothing but stinking up where dropbear wanted to enjoy its meal bu of course, dropbear had to stop choking first, it was kind of a sputtering and gagging mess.
It wasn’t a frightening sight at all.

Emily shrunk back in her seat a little when Dropbear leaned in towards her, partly because she wasn't sure about this creature yet, partly because this was just how she reacted. "D... Dropbear?... Hello Dropbear..." She didn't really know what she was supposed to do in the current situation.

She just sat there for a few moments, watching the entity steal food from her tray, the only thing that seemed to be safe being whatever she held in her hands and she wasn't entirely convinced about that. Emily licked her lips a little as she examined the creature, Dropbear tasted pleased, but the flavor also seemed unstable... Emily didn't know what that meant yet.

Emily blinked a little when Dropbear complimented her sandwich. "W-well, it's n-not like I made it or anything... I-I just bought it from the c-counter" She fidgeted a little bit, she didn't really mind sharing her food at the moment, she was trying to understand this individual in front of her.

Suddenly a taste equatable to burning rubber graced her mouth. Emily glanced at Dropbear again, following it's gaze to her pizza and looking between them a few times. She folded the slice in half and started taking quick bites out of it, chewing and finishing the pizza before too long.

"......... So... Um... H-H-How are you?......"

Dropbear carelessly chewed away at her food, tearing off bit by bit, stuffing it whole into her mouth, in whichever way that pleased her really. Some students were looking in their direction, some probably feeling sorry for the girl infront of the creature. By now the girl had finished the disturbing garbage to which some would label as pizza, and Dropbear was slightly calmer now.

Then the female asked Dropbear another question, quite the talkative one wasn’t she. Dropbear licked its lips, its large ears perking up and it crawled a little closer to the girl, most on the stuff on her plate was gone now anyway.
“I’m hungry.”

It blinked at the girl infront of her as if it was obvious, before “accidentally” bumping her hand. Was the female warm or cold… Dropbear froze, the question repeating through her head. Its eye locked on the females hand before it bared its teeth, well, only to clean its teeth of any gunk in them anyway.

The creature now had a new want, and that was to know if the girl, Emily, had a warm or cold body temperature, looking at the females features, one of maybe anxiety, curiousness, possibly fear? Dropbear wasn’t too good at reading emotions, maybe that was what a sick person looked like.

The creature leaned towards the girl, its paw (well, hand but lets refer to it as a paw, shall we?) brushing her forehead for long enough to get her body temperature. The dropbear smiled slightly, almost motherly.

“Warm, average warm, wait no slightly above, are you okay?”

Emily just sort of sat there, curled up in the looming shadow of Dropbear. The term cowed was probably an apt description of her being right now. She wasn't really afraid of the person stealing her food, nor did she really feel bullied at all as Dropbear's attitude suggested it was just be doing something it always did and Emily just happened to be there.

So she just sat there, fidgeting around idly as she tried to decide how she felt about this situation. “I’m hungry.” "Oh... S-sorry, that's all I h-have..." Emily just watched as the koalagirl brushed her hand and then glared at it, she drew it in close to herself reflexively. Dropbear was examining her now, anxiety was a given most of the time for Emily, as was curiosity.

The shy girl drew her tongue across her lips, trying to taste out what the other individual was feeling, it wasn't really easy with this one. Her eyes followed the hand as it brushed against her forehead, she blinked at the smile and tilted her head just a little. "Y-yes... I-I seem to be fine..."

Dropbear nodded, surveying the female for a second more before backing over to the seat next to hear, sitting rather awkwardly, its knees up to its cheeks in some butterfly position. It looked over to Emily and toyed with its fingers, observing her.
“Don’t talk much do you?”

A noise resembling a laugh erupted from its throat, before it stood up and climbed back on the table, laying on it on its stomach, blinking curiously at the girl for a few seconds before it bared its teeth, drawing its tongue across the canines and coughing. For a few more seconds it repeated this action, before placing its plaits behind its ears, its claws slightly scratching its ears before the creature scooted closer to the girl infront of it once again.
“Do you want something?”

Its voice was almost pleading, its face close to Emily’s as it stared at her. The creature poked her before leaning back and crawling onto its knees, picking at the crumbs on the table, as if that’s what it currently wanted. Its eyes were large and dull, but slightly smiled as it glanced to the girl with an unknown emotion. It wanted her to want something, in return for its want which ruined her lunch.

Emily watched Dropbear watching her. She was beginning to relax around the creature, and her stuttering and fidgeting were starting to calm down as well. "N-no... I guess I a-am a little quite... but th-that's just how I am, I-I listen..."

It was slow, but she could see very slightly the human showing through Dropbear's demeanor. Unlike some in the room considered the beastly figure to be a person, and honestly her reflexive thoughts weren't much different, but Emily's reason said they were probably a person just like her. How many people had been gathered to this island just because they had powers or odd features, the small characteristics, idiosyncrasies that didn't quite match the form showed her that she was at least somewhat correct.

She tilted her head slightly at the hulking creature before her as it inquired about her wants. Licking her lips she tasted the air. She couldn't always tell what Dropbear was feeling, sometimes it was simple, sometimes complex, and sometimes fantastically it was both at once. "...Do I want something? ...I-I want a lot of things sometimes... like the new book on fortune telling that came out not to long ago....." She looked into Dropbears face, trying to gauge what it was feeling and thinking. "...I-Is wanting important to you?.."

The creature known as dropbear blinked a few times at Emily, its ears twitching. After much considerations of what to reply to the girls examination, it clasped its paws together. The girl did want things, which was a relief to her. Bu what she said afterwards perplexed the bear, as Emily had said before she listened, but she also seemed to… Observe? Is that correct? Dropbear tilted its head, and crossed its legs on the table.

“Wanting should be important to most people, not just me in general.”
It fiddled with its plait, its strange eyes narrowed in concentration for a moment before focusing again towards the female infront of her… Well it. Its eyes scanned the room, taking in a few students faces before its focus remained on Emily.

“Right now I want to talk to you.”

The creature propped itself onto its knees again, the stillness of the previous position becoming uncomfortable. It crawled around for a moment, fidgeting to find a more comfortable style, before hugging its knees to its chest.

The female infront of her didn’t seem disinterested in conversation, infact, it seemed to want to know more about the creature. It’s eyes didn’t seem to leave dropbear, as if they were trying to pinpoint the creature or look through it, that the bear hadn’t figured out.

Emily nodded a little, sliding her now empty tray off to the side of the table and folding her hands in her lap. "Alright..." She was just going to accept that Dropbear was going to be crawling all over the table for the duration of this conversation and the tray would quickly end up in the way. This way she allowed Dropbear to crawl closer to her without knocking the tray around, and the simple act would create a feeling of openness and trust. That was the psychiatric idea, anyway.

"...S-So... W-What would you like to talk about?" She tilted her head at Dropbear, trying to come up with some kind of topic or question to ask. ".....Are you male or female?.. Ah!" The blush took over her entire face as she fidgeted frantically in her seat. "I-I-I'm sorry... Th-That was rude... I shouldn't have asked that..."
