"Lunch? Oh... yeah." Adelene didn't look at Matt when she said that. Embarrassment felt like a pricking, tingling sensation on her face and she wanted to hide it.

She was silent the entire time they walked. They had gone and left the shop where Matt had said they could buy a tester, and Addy afterwards pulled him to a diner nearby. "Let's get some food," she told him. "I mean... you can get some food while waiting..." Because she was going to use the bathroom and might take a while in there. "But you have to be here when I get back, okay? Promise me."

She'd only come back out twenty minutes later, and would quietly sit at the table where she had left Matt. Her face was blank.

"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere," he watched her leave, he took a breath trying to steady his nerves. This whole situation was incredibly stressful, he'd already been feeling stressed and troubled lately.

Either way, they'd both soon know the results. He decided to wait for her to order, so he got a soda and sipped his quietly, his thoughts twirling and twisting. Matteo wasn't sure he was ready to be a father, he wasn't sure he wanted to have children at all, he wasn't human anymore.

She returned, he looked to her with a calm face, he'd stay strong for her, he had to. They'd both been through hell, he might have known pretty much nothing about her, but he could tell that much. He gently placed his hand on hers.

Her face was blank when she sat down, but it didn't take long for a smile to spread across her lips. First of all, Matt being there when she came out reassured her completely of her impression of him-- that he was kind, and she was lucky. Second, "Negative."

All her anxiety that's built up because of this had been instantly washed away before she left the washroom. Well, they weren't completely gone, but she didn't fear the future as much anymore. "The instructions said I should check again after a few days to make sure, but I'm just really glad it showed a negative. I'm... sorry, I overreacted. I just got really scared."

She looked at their hands and briefly gave Matt's a gentle squeeze before letting go to look at the menu. "We should eat something since we're already here. Let me pay this time, since you paid for our booze the last time." Everything felt so much lighter, she really couldn't help but smile. She couldn't tell him why it was such a big deal to her, why the possibility of a child had freaked her out, but they didn't have to worry so much about it anymore.

A waitress would arrive at their table soon and take their order.

Negative, she wasn't pregnant, there wouldn't be a child. The stress he'd felt, seemed to fade away, they were going to be ok. A small smile appeared on Matt's face as she squeezed his hand, yes, they were going to be ok.

The waitress walked up to take their orders, they gave them and they ate lunch. Despite the events that'd lead them to this, he still enjoyed himself. Addy seemed like a kind person and he was happy to of met her, happy they were becoming friends.

It would interesting, seeing where it all went, these two people. Brought together by a one night stand, by loneliness and pain, but perhaps they'd find their way.
