If they were going to spread something all across the island, then the skills he'd been honing for his eventual Secretary position would come in handy. He even had outside help in the form of a frankly irresponsible drow who could send a text and have it reach the old men who slept in the alleys of the underground before day's end.

He supposed that he was fitted for worshiping a spider queen--his web was fairly large. Or. Wait. Did only female spiders weave webs?

Oh whatever. In any case, he jumped at the chance to make a change to the rules of magic. Maybe if this went over well this would boost both of their popularity when it came to this whole "running for government" thing.

He flipped back to an earlier page in his notebook and tapped out a rhythm. This wasn't their homework anymore, but deciding to revise the rules would probably be a better way of learning them well than just repeating them to each other over and over.

"Kill not with Magic," He read. "Maybe that should say, 'Kill not with magic, except if by killing, a life is saved."

'Kill not with magic, except if by killing, a life is saved.'
It was a good start, and Morgan liked it thus far. She thought back to the election, perhaps she could use these new rules of magic to help her get a spot as Student Council President? Though Wei was working a lot as well, and he was also running...

"That sounds good to me, how about this? Force thy Will on none save thyself, unless a mutual agreement is established. Does that sound good to you?". Morgan thought that amendment worked well, she didnt see any issues with it right away, though certainly some would arise, and the rule would have to be amended once again.

"Yeah, that sounds good," Wei said, looking at the next rule. There was nothing wrong with this rule per se--it would of course be very wrong to turn a spell on your master, but what about in situations where you would need to use a spell on your master to learn? Simulated battles? If your master orders you to kill him, even if he is not actively threatening you?

After looking over the rule a little, he shrugged a little. "I'm not sure what to do with this one. Uh... 'Turn no spell upon thy master, save to defend thy own life'... how about... 'Turn no spell upon thy master, save to defend thy own life or upon consent."

Morgan nodded "Yes that sounds good as well. Now... 'Steal not from thy fellow Wizards' I cant really see anything wrong with this one. Of course stealing is wrong.". But what if some crazed wizard were to steal some evil ancient artifact and threaten the world? That was a plotline she saw often in media, but did such a thing happen in real life?

"Just incase how about 'Steal not from thy fellow Wizards, unless in extreme situations'."

Hmm... Wei considered that for a moment, and shook his head. "That's not bad, but what would be considered an extreme circumstance? Would an artifact that produced an extreme amount of bananas be considered an extreme circumstance? What about if a mage took from you? Would you be unable to take it back?

Thinking about it for a little while, Wei decided that this was the kind of rule that might need multiple clauses. He couldn't think of a way to get all of the nuances of what might be okay and what might not be okay into one simple convenient rule.

"This one might need clauses..." he muttered to himself. How about, Steal not from thy fellow Wizards unless the artifact is a tangible danger to yourself or your fellow wizard... or your fellow Wizard has broken this clause?"

"Yes I suppose youre right, the 'extreme situations' does require some sort of explanation. And yours works quite well." Morgan thought about it for a bit "Nothing were saying here is really set in stone, things like this take time, they require testing and more discussion, and im afraid we'll probably run out of study time before we reach solid conclusions on each of them."

Studying, they were studying, Morgan completely forgot. She chuckled to herself "It would appear weve gotten side tracked, shall we return to studying?"

Wei nodded, smiling when Morgan said that his interpretation of the rule would be clearer and better suited for widespread use. It seemed like he was better at coming up with rules and regulations than he thought.

Perhaps he would be able to be a good president after all. Perhaps he should just give himself more credit for his abilities to think and lead.

Still, he was younger than most other people who would want to run, so he wouldn't worry about it.

"Oh, right, studying. I actually did have a question about one of the rules... what about the rule about the Arts? Can you explain that one to me? I super don't understand."

"Aid those in Magic who know not the Arts". It was a fairly simple rule but Morgan could understand why someone would be confused over it.

"The way I understand it is that when a fellow magic user is struggling with something, you should feel obligated to help them. An example would be if you were a bit more uneducated in spirit magic, I would feel like I should tutor you in the ways of spirit magic, as I know a fair bit." she tried to make it simple to understand.

"Ohhh," he said, nodding as if something had clicked with Morgan's words. It didn't literally mean that if someone couldn't do magic then you should spend your time trying to help them with magic exclusively, it seemed to be a more nebulous rule about just helping other people when they struggled in magic they already knew, but weren't masters at.

That made a lot more sense. "I would ask you how you felt about this rule, but you're a stickler for rules so you'd probably say its brilliant."

Wei laughed lightly before turning to another page. "But I think encouraging friendships and bonds in the magical community couldn't possibly be a bad thing, right? At least to me."

Wei hit the nail right on the head. Morgan let out a warm chuckle at the comment.

"Youre not far off" she said covering her mouth to contain her laughter. Morgan did like rules, no, she loved them. She couldnt really remember how long she had, perhaps it had been her whole life? Morgan had grown up in a very strict and orderly household, and took many etiquette classes when she was younger.

Morgan regained her composure quickly "Ah yes, it is good to encourage the building of friendships in any community, its much easier to get good at something when you have a friend to guide you."
