"I love you."

Wow that, uh...

That got real really quick.

Waking up from his half-dazed stupor, Lei froze, unsure of what to do. He knew that he felt the same way back, but saying it out loud right in the open felt more "official", like if he responded in kind, there would be no turning back. He would have to acknowledge that there were no other options. He would have to accept that he was a man without honor, and his duty to his Village meant nothing.

Was love worth more than duty? Thinking back on it, what has duty ever done for him? (Was he actually really this selfish?)

Lei placed a hand over Deith's own. Maybe the question he should be asking himself was: Didn't he always wish to be loved? Here was Deith in all his resplendent glory, loving him, the only man capable of loving him in fact. He didn't know what he saw in him, but apparently it was something attractive! He had always been a man that thought of duty, manners, etiquette. He had always been unhappy.

His eyes softened. "I love you too," he told him back, and underneath the thick embrace of the shadows, it was soft and secret, but official. Did he dare go for it? He looked to the ground and smiled. "I only really wanted to see the fireworks tonight. Do you want to go back to your place?"

He hoped he understood what he meant by that.

He.... He said it.

Lei said it.

Deith finally heard it from his adorable sweetheart's lips, albeit in a hushed manner. That's okay. Only he needed to hear them, after all.

He nodded, brushing Lei's hair with his fingers before pulling away.

They'd go back home, and Deith will treat Lei the best way he can, kiss him, hold him, love him.

"Let's go. How about staying for the night?"
