Diam twirled his cup gently, watching the fluid inside spin around it's interior. "The nature of your spells might grant you insight. Circinations often have strict rules governing even their mistakes. The right symbol in the wrong place in the circle will most often grant further power, whereas the wrong symbol in the right place will commonly affect the duration or target."

He took a last sip of his tea before setting it back on the table. The cup remained about a third full, but didn't desire to drink it while he might be lecturing his guest. "That is if you decided to pursue these talents yourself. If you simply discovered your power, the answer most likely remains within you. Emotional magics can be even more indecisive."

He looked her up and down once, considering what knowledge he had gained of her in these few minutes. "If you are one of the former types of mage, it opens the possibility you have not considered the islands own sources of power to be disruptive to yours. I will say again, magic is very fickle."

Zora listened attentively to Diam talk, explain about symbols and their placements within a circle, and how that could have a certain effect on the outcome of the spell. This did fascinate her actually. She didn't often use that type of magic, and so only had a rough knowledge of its workings. Although, she had a sneaking feeling that it might be why the ancient Celtic healing spell, she had found and used, had turned her immortal instead of just healing her.

"My magic, my abilities... " Zora said as she placed the teacup on the table, "Are, well, emotional, I guess." she hadn't really thought about them in that way before,"They are part of who I am, and are somewhat limited..." she explained thoughtfully.

"I am what my family calls an elemental mage. I can only manipulate water though, not fire or any other element," Zora said as she looked at Diam, taking in his semblance, his pallor, and thinking he was perhaps a vampire or a demon of some sort. "I can also move from place to place as well as a few other spells... and no, I haven't taken into account the island's sources of power," she admitted to Diam, giving a little shake of her head, wondering if that was the cause?

Diam nodded slowly. "Then it is more then likely an interference of some sort. Magic controlled by will alone is much more susceptible to such things then spells worked through knowledge. It's surprising you have not had other altercations with your brand of magic. Nor is water a passionate element. It possesses more give then earth, but cannot respond to disruption as well as air or fire. You should assess your mental state before casting further."

He blinked once, then twice, allowing a long pause to interrupt the conversation. "I do not believe there is much more for you to gain from outside knowledge regarding your power. Perhaps insights can be gathered, but ultimately it is your own and you must be the one to remedy it."

"Since you are here, I will answer questions if you have them. It may have been a while since I have had a pupil."
