There was a girl that stared at the both of them, wide-eyed, and Hari grinned, acting like he didn't see her. "Ah, yes, on account of our rigorous and passionate all-night human jenga tournament. It leaves many parties in various states of undress."

She looked away, blushing, and walked faster out of the vicinity. He wondered what she must think. The guy that obsessively baked and dressed constantly in thrift shop grandmother clothing had a sex life, what a miracle.

Regardless, Hari chuckled and began preparing the vegetables and the condiments. He put the wheat buns with cheese melt on it in the microwave oven and set it to toast for five minutes. He also prepared the frying pan, greasing it with oil in a low fire.

"I do. Cooking's one of my favorite things to do. It's just one of those things you do and zone out, you know?" He started frying the pre-made grocery bag french fries, putting salt and pepper and mozarella on it so the seasoning cooks with it. "You should rate it when it's done, on a scale of 'I should've dressed to the nines' to 'This dish doesn't deserve me even thinking about putting on underwear'."

He wondered why he was moving faster than usual, as if he had more energy. Come to think of it, he felt an almost electric pulse entering his body earlier. He turned to face Sebastian abruptly, raising his hand and pointing at his palm. "We... we made contact earlier, didn't we? Are you all right?"

''Well'' Sebastian said, chucklimg as he kept following the girl's hurried retread from the room for a few moments more, finding her funny as he watched her bump into both people and things a few thimes in her awkward nervousness, before he found himself turning towards Hari once more, mesmorised by the almost graceful movment of his hands as he cooked and prepared the food.

''Her eyes won't be fitting back into her skul any time soon, that'' he finished what he was saying before. Chuckling once more he then shifted closer to the where Hari was working, so that he was within the reaching distance in order to be able to speak quieter and not be overheard again. He did not rely care either way, but he did not wish to be interupted right now by someone whi would have a much more violent reaction than a nervous, shy girl.

''Zone out, hmmm?'' he then asked, raising his eyes towards the celling in thought. ''I'm not actually sure I do'' he whispered after a moment or two as he reached the onlu conclusion he could: there were planty of things which made him zone out, he could not deny that, but none of them did so because he enjoyed them; most in fact bored him, while a small procent simply irritated him.

''Does that mean I should strip down if I don't like the food?'' he asked soon after saying that, jokingly, wanting to change the subject, as he was sure that there was no chance of him actually disliking anything that looked and smelled as good as what Hari was currently making. ''Considering that I'm in my jeans right now and all'' he laughed tillting his head as he thoght about it some more. ''Somebody should make a cooking show out of that. I'm sure it would be very highly rated.''

Raising his eyebrow both at how sudden the other man had stopped and how strange his question was at this point, Sebastia pulled his right hand out of his pocket as he nodded. ''Yeah'' he said, reaching out towards Hari and repeating the movement he had accidently done before by brushing hs fingers across his palm again. ''I kind of missed your arm before'' he added, tilting his hand again. ''And I'm just fine. Why wouldn't I be?''

"I'm sure she'll be fine. She has quite the story to tell her friends, at least." He smiled as he remembered about her reaction, tasting what he said on his tongue. He usually didn't entertain such lascivious thoughts considering his predicament, but it was nice to pretend at the moment.

He was done with these fries. He pulled out a strainer and put the batch of fries on there to strain the grease while he worked on other dishes.

Sebastian moved closer, and he was under scrutiny again. He... quite liked it, him being at close proximity, but such a short distance away from him proved to be dangerous. He could see every detail on his face, from his pretty eyes to the soft red of his lips. He noticed his eyes lingered a little too long so he opted for some more distance, opening the nearby door and pulling out a pitcher of cucumber lemonade and banana bread he made the other day.

And then he made the game show joke. Hari snapped the tension in half as he laughed, shaking his head. He poured them two glasses of lemonade and settled the drinks on the counter table. "I think they should change the mechanics a bit. You take more clothes off if the food's good. It'll be a hit show in America."

Sebastian did it again. He felt the flow of energy moving inside his skin. He drew his hand back, as if burned, but... nothing happened. Sebastian was standing there like nothing had happened.

What did that mean?

T-there was a whole list of things he was supposed to do. Take out the buns, prepare the patties and the salad, unwrap the bread, make everything presentable — all things he knew and memorized through habit. But at the moment, he couldn't bear himself to do any of those things. The ding of the microwave oven was a cruel reminder.

Hari put down the spatula he was holding on the counter and, without warning, grabbed both of Sebastian's hands. He held them into his own, skin touching skin... a sensation he hadn't experienced in a long, long while.

"I..." He felt his chest tighten, tears trickling at the edge of his eyes. He was excited, but he was still terribly afraid. Was this a trick? Was he cured? Or... was Sebastian immune to his powers?

Did it matter?

"How... is this happening? I don't... This — This shouldn't be possible." He looked up at him with pleading eyes. "What are you?"

''I wouldn't be so sure about that'' Sebastian said, scoffing softly at the thought. ''She didn't seem like the type to be able to get it off her tongue'' he added, thinking back on the blushing bride so upset by such an...interesting line. He wondered if that also was the Shine, making him hear what was not there, setting him up for disappointment of trying to remember what had been said a few weeks in the future only to find that it was nothing actually worth remembering at all. Somehow, despite everything, he didn't think so.

''I didn't think about that'' he said, his eyes now focused back on Hari's face as he laughed, noticing for the first time, even from a distance, for the man had moved away from him again, a soft golden light filling the green of his irises on the inside, thinking how he had never seen something quite like that before; with every new thing he found, the shine he saw in his mind slowly got stronger.

''It would work better like that'' and it would; he could imagine it too; it was exactly the type of shows that people watched nowadays. ''I could be the host'' he continued, a smile on his eyes growing a bit brighter. ''You could be the cook'' he laughed, wondering if maybe there was a class that could teach him how to do this instead of advertising...

Soon, however, all thought of simple jokes and imaginary cooking shows was forgotten, as the other man froze the moment Sebastian brushed his hand across his skin. Frowning, he was almost going to pull his hand back, slightly confused by what was going on, and by instinct reaching for the power sleeping at the back of his mind, when suddenly he felt both of his hands being clasped in a crushing grip by another pair. Hari held onto him in a way which seemed almost desperate; he tried to speak, yet seemed to be lost for words, tears, Sebastian noticed, slowly forming in his eyes.

''Maybe I should be the one asking whether you were alright'' he said, slowly taking one of his hands back and rising it to the other man's face, brushing carefully the few tears that managed to escape from his face; a tender gesture, something he could not really imagine himself doing, yet the tan, gangly man before him seemed so distressed, he could not help it. Once the tears were gone, his hand still continued to linger, seemingly by the will of his own; he could not remember feeling a skin so soft before...

''Not quite sure about the last one there'' he then said, his voice slowly gaining back his edge, ''Something, just like everyone else here, I'd say. Which really makes me wonder what got you so panicked there. Is there something you want to share?''

Hari pulled his hands back.

He had gotten too attached too fast. There was a part of him that desperately wanted Sebastian to like him. He liked him. Sebastian was lazy, kind of insensitive and frequently inappropriate, but he was handsome, and in the short span of time he had known him, he had seen that he was sweet inside. Never in his wildest dreams did he expect that a person like him would wipe his tears away, but it happened, and it was more than he could have imagined.

Sebastian was a harmless porcupine. Hari... Hari was more of a wolf in sheep's clothing. He put up a sweet front, but he was the only one that knew that the minute you fall for his tricks, he was going to gobble you whole. That was how he worked.

He destroys everything he touches. Everything broke. Nothing stayed the same. He was a monster, and he could pretend to be nice, but that wouldn't change the fact that he was rotten on the inside, cursed for reasons unknown.

For once, he wanted to pretend he was the perky new roommate, the charming game show cook, the suave College student with the freaky sex life. But he asked. Is there something you want to share.

Hari's usual self melted into a colder, more somber expression. He walked over to the kitchen counter and found a small cactus, young and ready to bloom. He looked at Sebastian.

"I wanted to share this."

There was a part of him that wished his powers magically disappeared in the night. He wanted to touch the cactus, have nothing happen, and laugh awkwardly — 'surprise, I was kidding!' He extended his finger and touched the side of the cactus.

In no time, the cactus began to shrivel up and die, shrinking by the second. When he finally removed his finger, it was nothing more than a black, dry prune.

Exactly what he expected.

He couldn't bear standing anymore. He sat on one of the chairs, burying his face in his hands, attempting to breathe normally. "If you read the memo, you'd know this: I kill everything I touch." He combed his hair back, still trembling at the sight of the cactus he just ruthlessly murdered. "I... I'll understand if you don't want to associate with me anymore. I happen to like you, though."

Sebastian watched with quiet fascination as Hari let go of his hand, pulling slowly back into himself, until someone much more sombre emerged to say: <i>I wanted to share this</i>

''I take it that was supposed to happen to me as well'' he said after the man had finished speaking, his head now hidden in his hands, his heavy breaths filling the silence falling slowly between them, the rest of the room suddenly empty; where there have been almost a dozen students before now there were none and Sebastian didn't even notice when they have gone. He was too focused on feeling dried out skin of a black, shrivelled thing he had just seen Hari kill.

''I guess I understand now why you panicked'' he said, laying his eyes on the top of the soft-brown head; Hari was still hiding between his hands. ''If me letting you die when I was supposed to help you would have caused me trouble, I can only imagine what kind of mess you would be in for actually <i>killing</i> me'' he said, his voice dry as he smiled a somewhat dry smile. ''And this time, I would be the one sleeping in the grave'' he wanted to add, but stopped himself in time, mostly because he didn't see the point: the other man was obviously distressed enough as it was already.

''I do wonder why it didn't happen though'' he said, crouching down in front of Hari's chair so that his chest was on about same level as the man's head. ''Hey, get up here already'' he said, getting tired of talking to a mop of the admittedly soft-looking light brown hair. ''I would much rather talk to your eyes than your hair. Also, you promised me food if a got dressed, didn't you?''

For a moment, Sebastian waited for a reaction in silence, before finally getting tired of it all. He reached out with his hand, placing it under the other man's chin so he could raise his head. For a second he hesitated, before he finally spoke.

<i>''I could make a man jump off the roof with the sound of my voice''</i> he said, the power which had slept comfortably in the back of his mind suddenly rushing through his blood, colouring his voice with the notes of Seduction; he did not know, though, whether he could truly convince someone to take their own life, his experimentation with his power never going farther than the slow hot kisses in the school cafeteria or under the bleachers where they could be come something just a bit hotter, but that didn't matter now. <i>''And the last person I dared kiss, fainted. Also, I can turn into a snake''</i> He did not know why he had added that last part; he felt, though, like it somehow made his point.

''This is a school of freakish'' he continued to speak once he had felt the small burst of power he had allowed himself fade away from his voice. ''I knew that when I applied. So as long as it doesn't affect me, I don't give a damn. Now'' he added, standing up again, feeling the blood rush back into his legs, making his skin itch. ''I believed I heard the microwave do that ping thing.''

Hari... was quiet, but he was listening. Sebastian was blunt and rude, but he was persistent. He wanted to — He stepped on his desires and crushed them under his heel. It didn't matter what he wanted, except for his biggest desire right now, which is to rot on that counter and die.

And then...

Sebastian did something. Something in his mind clicked, and he ended up hanging to every word he was saying. His face was close, so close it would be easy to bridge the gap at any moment. He wanted nothing but to ravish Sebastian. His rationality was off. His insecurities were off. Any and all filters in his mind were off, off, off.

It ended pretty quickly.

That was so odd, but it got Hari onto his feet, the adrenaline completely knocking out whatever negativity he had earlier. He looked at the ground, back to his usual humble self, smiling a bit. For the first time in his life, he didn't want to run away.

"You're really selfish." A beat. "Right now, I'm realizing... I'm into that?"

Well, that was the boldest he was going to get.

He still really wanted to kiss him, though.

Right. The oven ping thing. Hari pulled out the buns and set them aside, topping them off with condiments. The patties were thawed now, so he began reheating the frying pan and getting to work on them.

"I'm sorry about freaking out earlier," he said softly, barely audible under the sound of oil sizzling meat. "Has anyone ever told you you're really sweet? Even though you're the type that's all, I'm really cool and I don't care about anything! I don't think that's remotely true."

''I'm the most self-serving person alive'' Sebastian said with the lazy smugness of a resting tom cat; his usually bright blue eyes darkened with lust and power as he noticed the look in Hari's eyes, the one telling him always, without fault, that even with the Seduction completely gone the other boy wanted him; all of that, he had seen in a beat it took the other man to continue to speak. Unfortunately, by then, the shy, humble man he had met prior to the cactus killing incident had somehow managed to return.

''I'll give you a kiss when we're done eating then'' he said, tracing slowly with the fingers of his left hands across the skin of his upper right arm, his pupil still swimming in the deep blue oceans instead the usual piercing blue, his control barely keeping his power in line; he had not used it for so long that once he had opened the damn, even though it was for less than a moment, the whole of his power suddenly turned into a river ready for the damn to burst. He was thus moments away of being overwhelmed by his own burning blood and Seducing Hari into something the man might not want to... outside of bedroom. ''Now, feed me'' he ordered, needing something to distract him from doing something he both didn't want and wanted too much to do. Then, however, Hari had to go and say something that would make him frown.

''Then maybe you should. Think, that is'' he said, his voice dropping instantly from lust and lazy into sharpness and sarcasm. '''Cause I'm about as sweet as that cactus that just died. Or about three points under, actually. The cactus has those shitty purple flours in the summer at least. And I don't care 'bout anything'' he added, leaning towards Hari as he said that, having started walking towards thee fridge somewhere near the end of the previous sentence. Opening the fridge, he frowned at the bunch of bear cans sitting in the front row-he did not drink. Thus, he had to lean forward even more, bending so he could reach the water buried somewhere deep within as if that was a drink human body could do with only occasionally. Or not at all preferably. It smelled awful and tasted even worse, especially in somebody else's mouth.

''So, when's the food going to be done?'' he asked, finally standing straight again, the pants which have been hugging his body so closely while he was bent over now falling loosely down to his hips.

It was so odd, watching a man prefer to be called selfish over kind. Kids these days and the fronts they put. He was sincerely hoping he was kidding about the kissing part. Er. He wasn't sure he could properly prepare for that.

Something was going on with Sebastian's eyes. Hari had stared at him too much to knew that they changed shades, somehow. Was it an after effect of his power? How would he even ask that? He turned his attention to the patties he was cooking, adding in a special sauce he got from the shop to make them tastier.

"All right, Mr. Tough Guy. You don't care about anything at all." Hari chuckled, rolling his eyes a bit. How did he ever get stuck with someone so ridiculous?

And then... Sebastian went ahead and did that. He averted his gaze, not even wanting to admit he ogled for a little bit. He could've crouched, but it didn't seem like it was his style.

"I put out some lemonade earlier if you're thirsty," he said, pointing at the counter with his thumb. He scraped the patties off the frying pan and placed them between the buns. He quickly finished off the garnishing. "And lunch will be done in a bit, my lord. The servants should be returning soon with the finest sparkling spring water for your delicate constitution."

That was the worst fake British accent he could muster, so he snorted. He decided to skip the salad since His Lordship was so hungry already, so Hari finished up the burgers and put a tiny flag on each of them to hold them together. The burgers were served with a side of fries, and a tall glass of cucumber lemonade and, for desert, banana bread.

It looked practically professional. Hari was pretty proud of the end result. He sat on one of the chairs, waiting for Sebastian to sit down so he could start eating. "Lunch is ready," he said, back to his normal voice.

''No, I really don't'' Sebastian said, his voice loosing its dry sharpness once more, falling back into its normal tone, his demeanour settling back into something resembling normal as well as he smoothed down his imaginary feathers that Hari had unintentionally ruffled. He really disliked, and would hate with a passion if hate wasn't too much work as well, people telling him that he must like something, must be interested in something, <i>must care about something</i> when for years now the only thing he honestly felt inside was boredom day in and day out, except in those brief moments when something new that hasn't lost its shine yet would somehow find itself in his path, unexpected room-mates being example A of that. He sometimes wondered whether he should simply tell those annoying you-must-want-<i>something</i> people about his power, just so he could explain that that, that meant he could have anything he wanted and the only effort that he would had to make was to try poke at the power sleeping in the back of his mind for a while, until it woke up; then, it was all about speaking the right words and tones. Naturally that meant that he wanted nothing at all; it wasn't really worth it in the end; and thus he was bored.

Hari, of course, could not know any of that; still his comments had hit one spot within himself that Sebastian wouldn't completely protect, and the natural response to that was to be rude; the other man, though didn't seem to mind that much at all.

''It's fine'' he said, casting a glance towards the drinks Hari had placed on the counter. ''Oh, you send servants?'' he scoffed, his mocking tone returning to him slowly; it never seemed to stay far away anyway. ''You should have told me, mine would have done it faster'' he joked. ''You don't make a really good British man, do you?'' he asked then, smiling amusedly at the other man's attempt just a bit.

''Finally'' he said as Hari placed the food on the table, practically falling down in the chair in front of his food. He eyed the food for a moment first, thinking how had he not watched the man make it he might have as well though that it had come from a restaurant. ''You know, you really should think about cooking at that show'' he said before he finally started to eat. ''You would get a lot of naked contestants'' he added, smirking, once he swallowed the dozen bites of one of the best things he had ever tasted. ''So, should I be the first or do you just want that kiss?''
