Eve set the timer to 30 minutes and put it on the kitchen counter. Before he started cleaning up the mess in the kitchen he peeked into the oven and observed the pizza he had just put in. It was super sized and had mozzarella and salami and some mushrooms on top of his own homemade tomato sauce and pizza base Eve had spun from dough he had made from scratch. Slight smile lit up Eve's face and he straightened and systematically started cleaning away the supplies he had used to make pizza.
Eve was quite nervous, and almost dropped multiple items on the floor while he kept glancing at the clock. This was the first time since Jake helped him move in that he came over, and they had not been dating at the time. Eve wasn't even sure if he had realized his feelings for Jake yet then. But Eve was sure this visit would feel very different, and although he was nervous he was also excited and couldn't wait for the doorbell to ring. He wondered how Jake would like his pizza, Eve hadn't made one in a while and hoped it would turn out good.

After a few minutes Eve finished cleaning the kitchen and he took off his apron, hanging it on a hook by the sink. Eve went to the livingroom/bedroom, since his flat was just one large room with a separate kitchen and bathroom. Eve looked around, everything was in order and clean enough. Eve's single bed was tucked at the left corner of the room by a window, and Eve had just changed the sheets and made the bed. Although the bed would not be used during this visitation, since Eve had a small dark grey couch, couch table and a tv set with a dvd player at the left corner of the room. Jake was coming over for a movie and they would most probably only use those and maybe the small table with four chairs, that was by the kitchen.
Eve's easel was hung on its own hook on the wall at the foot of his bed, and Eve's paints and supplies were in a wooden box under his bed. Eve's bedside table had a shelve, that was packed full of sketchbooks leaning against each other and in the drawer on that same table you could find Eve's sketching supplies. Multiple pencils, erasers, sharpeners and such.

Eve, not really knowing what to do with himself while waiting, straightened one of the multiple paintings that lined the room. Some of them were Eve's own works but most were from other artists. All of them, however, were scenery paintings. They all had different themes from an ocean view to a forest during dusk. But Eve's favourite, a simple picture of a beautiful sunrise over the sea, was hung over his bed. If you flipped the frame behind it you could read "For Eve on his new dawn. Have strength. Sincerely," and then multiple names were written, with many different handwritings. They were all the scouts that had found Eve on the day of...the incident.
Outside the window you could see a very small backyard, that then opened to a small wooded area that had a forest path that lead to the shore.

Eve was just considering wiping all the surfaces in the flat, again, when the doorbell rang at the same time as the timer. Eve, for a second, just stood there lookinh from the kitchen to the door. Finally he maee a decision and went to the front door and opened it for Jake. Just seeing Jake made the look in Eve's eyes soften and he gave Jake a small gentle smile before stepping out of the doorway.
"Hey Jake. Just leave your shoes by the door please, I need to take the pizza out of the oven."
With that Eve turned away and went over to the kitchen to take the pizza out of the oven. The delicious smell was floating around the flat and made Eve hungry.

To say Jake was nervous was an understatement. This was his first ever date in his life and he had no idea what to expect. Was it an event that warranted smart attire or his usual casual clothes? Jake didn't have a lot of clothes and he hated to dress fancily, making him hope that Eve would not judge him for what he wore. He was also unsure whether he needed to bring anything. Eve had said that he would cook but Jake felt like it would be rude to turn up empty-handed. Alcohol was out of the question since he was not of age yet he did not think of buying a present for him. It seemed like that might have been the best thing to do considering he was putting all that effort into cooking them a meal.

Jake stood for a moment to cool himself off. It was only Eve. There was no need to worry so much. Once he had collected himself, he made his way from his room and down the stairs, leaping over the bannister before getting to the bottom. The thought of showing up with nothing still niggled at his head. Panicking internally, he scooped up a pot with a small green plant inside as he walked out to the forest. Before getting too far, he looked down at the decoration he had nabbed from his home. A fucking plant pot. Why would he want some stupid plant pot? he sighed, shaking his head. A potted plant was better than nothing he decided and no one in the mansion would miss a small thing such as that.

Finally making his way to Eve's door, he gave it a small knock. Jake hadn't been inside since he had helped Eve move in and even then, it had been pretty bare. He expected that the place had probably changed a bit since then. As the door opened, Jake smiled and replied, "Hey, yeah sure," as he slipped off his shoes after closing the door behind him. It was true, the place was less bare than the last time he had seen it. "Wow. This place looks great!" he exclaimed as he took in all of the paintings hanging on the wall. Remembering the pottery under his arm, he tried to come out with something that sounded plausible for such a gift. "But d'ya know what it's missing? A plant pot. Bam!" he said as he held out the small leafy shoot, trying to hold back a laugh at his stupidity.

Eve returned over to Jake after taking the pizza out of the oven and setting it to the side to cool, just in time to see Jake show off a potted plant he had been carrying under his arm. Eve had not even noticed, he had only looked at Jake's face. Eve blinked few times and chuckled a bit, seeing from Jake's expression that he was holding back laughter as well. Eve stepped closer and took the plant with a small smile on his face.
"Thank you. This room does need more green. I wouldn't have taken you for an interior designer."
Eve teased a bit, trying to hide how stupidly happy he was to receive a potted plant, or any gift, from Jake. Eve was happy that he now had an item that would remind him of Jake everytime he saw it.

Eve set the plant for now on his bedside table, it fit snugly on it. Eve considered leaving it there so he could see it right after he woke up in the morning. Then Eve, suddenly kind of nervous, turned around and pulled off the hairtie that had kept his hair on a short ponytail.
"Would you like to eat before we watch the movie or during it? I made pizza with salami, mozzarella and mushrooms."
Eve gestured towards the kitchen where the super sized pizza was waiting and cooling.

"What can I say? I have many talents," he joked, shrugging with a smile. Jake wasn't the best when it came to matching complementary colours but it could be said that he was decent at decorating, not that he was serious in this instance. The smell of the pizza cooling on the side was incredible, making his stomach gurgle at the thought of eating it. Though he hadn't been hungry before walking through the door, he was certainly hungry now after the scent filled his nose.

"I'm easy either way," he replied, decisive as ever. "It smells amazing!" Jake added. Pizza was one of his favourite food, especially when there was a lot of meat on. Meat topped all other food, though. It was great to see that Eve was such a great cook since Jake had never been able to get the hang of being in the kitchen. Soren had tried to teach him once but it did not go so well. At least he had tried to become better. In truth, he didn't really need to cook his food. Meat was actually more flavoursome raw but he had grown accustomed to eating like normal humans after growing up in the narrow reality.

Eve could hear Jake's stomach rumble and smiled a little bit. It made him happy that he wasn't the only one who thought the pizza smelled delicious. Eve had never really cared for fast food but had still liked pizza and burgers and such. So he had learned how to do them himself. It was quite relaxing and the result tasted pretty good, even if he did say so himself. Although having Jake taste his food made him all new kind of nervous. Eve had cooked for other people, including his boyfriends, before but this was very different. Jake was something different to Eve.

"Thank you, I think so too. I hope you like it. If you would be fine with it we can eat the pizza while we watch the movie."
Eve smiled a little and went over to the TV, starting to set the DVD player. Partly he wanted to eat while watching the movie to avoid possible silences. Eve did not feel awkward but he wanted to avoid having Jake feel it. And movies were more fun with food and snacks anyway.
"Could you please go cut the pizza? I set a knife next to it in the kitchen."
Eve said over his shoulder and after a minute was done setting up the player. He went over to the kitchen and took out plates to put the pizza on.

"Yeah, that's fine," Jake replied, deciding that Eve's decision was probably the best one. That way, there would be no silences that would not be filled by the sound of the movie and it meant that he wouldn't feel so conscious about the way he ate. He was told once that you could tell a lot about a person by the way they ate their food and that always made him nervous. It wasn't like Jake was a messy eater but the idea made him more aware of it, rather than something that was automatic. Plus, it felt wrong to watch a movie without at least a snack.

Many a pizza had been sliced by Jake. So much so, that he considered himself a pizza cutter master. "I would be honoured," he said in a dramatic voice as he made his way to the kitchen. A knife? He had to admit that even though he was such a professional, a modest knife was not the best way to cut it. In Jake's opinion, a pizza should be cut with a pizza wheel or even with kitchen scissors over a knife. Jake laughed at himself over how much he over thought cutting a pizza. Shaking his head, he made the meal into eight slices and brought it over to the sofa, placing it down before returning to get some kitchen roll. Coming back to the sofa, Jake leapt over the back of the seat and landed with a bounce. "Let's get this show on the road!"

Eve was actually very aware that pizza was inefficient, even annoying, to cut with a knife. But he had forgotten to buy a pizza cutter when he had been shopping for utensils. Although he had only relized that today when he had made pizza for the first time in a while.
Eve made a mental note to write an actual note that told him to buy a pizza cutter. He dug a small folded table from a kitchen cabinet and brought it over to the sofa, setting the pizza and plates on top of it. The table was between the sofa and the TV so Jake and Eve could both reach it easily. Eve made one more quick stop to the kitchen to bring them two cold cans of coke.
"Thank you Jake. I hope you like coke, I also have 7up and D. Pepper."
Eve said as Jake brought kitchen roll over. Eve chuckled when he bounced on the sofa and did a small two finger salute.
"Yes sir."
Eve sat next to Jake, pulling his legs up on the sofa, and pressed play for the movie to start. Eve leaned back, and although he tried to immerse himself in the starting movie the sofa was small and he could feel Jake's warmth on his shoulder. He kind of wanted to lean over but wasn't nearly bold enough.

"7up would be great, thanks," Jake replied from the sofa. He wasn't a massive fan of fizzy drinks but lemonade was his go-to drink if he went out. The other two options were not drinks that he would willingly choose. If it were to be placed in front of him, he would drink it but 7up was just better in his eyes. "I'm fine with it just in the can if you want. Saves on the washing up then."

Jake readjusted his position to be more comfortable as Eve sat down beside him. He had already seen this movie a number of times but it was a great film. Honestly, Jake just loved watching movies, no matter the quality. The bad ones were fun to just laugh at how terrible they were and the good were even more enjoyable to watch. Jake sat with one leg dangling off the sofa with the other under himself, leaning against the armrest. No doubt his position would change frequently since he found it hard to just stay still. He hoped that it wouldn't seem unaffectionate of him to sit this way. Was he supposed to cuddle up with Eve?

Being the first one to take a slice, he began eating it before any cheese or toppings fell onto Eve's couch. Jake was also not a fan of mushrooms but he just made sure to drown out the flavour with the other toppings. It would seem rude if he were to pick them off after Eve had made the effort. "Mmmm," he mumbled as he finished off a bite. "This is really good!"

Eve set down a can of coke for himself and went to fetch 7up for Jake. He also reminded himself to ask Jake what he liked. Or more like, why hadn't he asked that before making pizza for him? What if Jake didn't like some of the toppings? Did he even like soda at all?
Eve was mulling all that over when he brought the 7up can over and almost missed what Jake said.
"Hm? Oh, yes, thank you. I usually just drink it from the can as well."

Eve didn't really watch that much TV or follow media. He had been aware of this movie, but Eve read a lot of books and even manga, and mostly watched documents if anything. That didn't mean he didn't like movies, and even now Eve watched the movie with interest, though his concentration was partly somewhere else. Eve wasn't really that big of a cuddler, Jake's closeness and presence was enough for him. But Eve didn't want to force Jake to do something he perhaps didn't like. So Eve remained sitting crosslegged, his leg occasionally brushing against Jake when he changed position. Each time Eve tried to move his leg out of the way a bit, only for it to slip back after few minutes.

Eve felt slightly nervous when Jake ate the pizza, he had wanted to see Jake's reaction before taking some himself. Thankfully Jake praised it, and Eve smiled a little and also took a piece for himself.
"I'm glad to hear that, I haven't made pizza in a while."
Eve took a bite, it really was good. Eve if he did say so himself. Eve suddenly realized something, and took this chance to ask Jake about his preferences.
"If there are some toppings or other foods you prefer please tell me. I would like to know more about what you like. Um, for future reference, I mean."
Eve had said the second part of his sentence without thinking, and bit into his pizza slice. His blush was hidden by the flare from the tv-screen.

"Nah, I absolutely love pizza. I'm... not too keen on mushrooms but this pizza tastes too great to pick stuff off," he said, thinking that was a valid answer to why he was eating a topping he didn't particularly like. The film had barely begun and his pizza was almost completely demolished his. Jake often ate very quickly, a trait he developed growing up in an orphanage. Back there, it seemed as though everyone ate like animals but Jake often forgot that not everyone else ate that way.

The duo made small talk and chatted during the movie. Nearly three hours and a few more cans of fizzy drinks later, the film finally drew to a close. "So, watcha think of it?" Jake asked, having seen the movie before. Fantasy, sci-fi and the supernatural were among his favourite things to watch. Most of all were superhero movies. Anything that helped him escape from the world he was living in before Manta Carlos. They offered him a place where he belonged, where he wasn't some monster whilst the rest of the people he knew were normal. Now, those types of movies were his life.

He picked up all of the rubbish and tossed it into the trash, walking back into the kitchen. Helping to clean up was the least he could do, he thought. At home, he tried to keep on top of the mess but that didn't always go to plan. However, this wasn't his house and he did make half of the clutter.
