A new normal? That was an interesting thought that made Greyson think for a moment. Indeed, Starlight would definitely be the best place to find this "new normal" or at least make it happen. If there were people here who had similar problems to Greyson then maybe he would have a shot. But depression is a horrible thing and even the most happiest thought is easily perverted due to feeling depressed. What if something went horribly wrong... what if his powers went beyond what he knew and he hurt someone. Greyson knew that he was able to take objects with his mind and pull them to pieces... he was able to expand their molecules and see the atoms they were made of. What if he did this on a person... pulled them apart and killed them?
No... he knew that Vinayne meant well with her words but Greyson's powers were far too dangerous. Yes, he conceded that he could control them. But the fact remained that he never asked for them in the first place and they had brought nothing but trouble for him. He had not told Vinayne that he saw his mother's timeline and knew she would contract terminal breast cancer within a matter of years... how the chemotherapy would buy her mere months and nothing more. How could he tell his mother this? Greyson had kept quiet about it because, deep down, he hoped that the vision itself was of only one possible future... that the future could be changed somehow.
It was then that Greyson had decided on his future here at Starlight. Vinayne was right... he would a way of controlling his powers and learn how they would work. He knew that he had years to find a way of controlling them. Then he would use them to prevent what he had seen... to stop his mother's future from coming through.
It was at this time that Greyson knew it was safe to take off his sleep mask. As he did so and opened his eyes, the colours around him seemed a little brighter than last time. And there was Vinayne, sitting a little further away from him. The sickness feeling had gone down a little bit, which certainly helped somewhat. Greyson took a deep breath as he nodded to himself. Now he had a plan, he felt a little more focussed. Once he saved his mother, he would abandon these powers forever. But for now, it was time to think about what he was going to do.
...
...
Greyson had no clue. This was a new situation for him and he didn't know where to start. But perhaps Vinayne might?
"Vin," Greyson said, "If I wanted to learn more about my powers and how they worked then where would the best place to start be?"
