Definitely Not a Date

Jii had been almost religiously checking her phone on the way to their meeting spot, convinced that Evie was going to send her a text that she wasn't coming. Really, most of this still seemed too good to be true to her. A girl that she happened to find both exceptionally cute and funny was not only hanging out with her, but had been the one to suggest it.

Of course, Jii had maybe gone a bit overboard as far as putting food together for them, but she really wanted to impress her. Spotting the beginning of a trail that they had set to meet up at, she sat down on the bench there, checking her phone once more before giving a little sigh and anxiously playing with her hair.

Jii glanced down at her phone just as Evie was approaching, her ear twitching and registering the sound, but she was totally engrossed in her text window nonetheless. So naturally, when
the other girl dropped down right in front of her, she was more than a little bit startled. The pixan gave a squeak of surprise, fumbling with her phone and finally catching it, her chest quickly rising and falling like a frightened rodent.

"O...o-oh, um, Evie! It's...you." She felt compelled to just laugh it off even though she was still a little shaken, steadily calming herself over the next few moments. "I'm super glad you could make it! It's great to see you again." Smiling brightly and inadvertently showing off her tiny fangs in the process, the significantly shorter girl hopped off from the bench and grabbed the apparently hand woven basket she'd brought.

Jii glanced over to the trail they had selected earlier, a relatively mellow one without too many sharp inclines, and one that had been recommended due to its scenic end point. "Um, well, I think we should probably be good to go, unless you have something you need to do first?" She nodded in the direction of the trail, obviously eager to get started.

Jii smiled warmly up at Evie, subconsciously mirroring her movements and rocking on her heels as well. "It's really nothing too crazy, I promise. Just a nice scenic walk, plus a a little bit of climbing towards the end." The trail they had picked out had what was essentially a small natural climbing wall right before their end point where they were going to eat, just a little something extra she thought sounded exciting.

Evie's joke in combination with her expression threw the pixan off as much as usual however, the smaller girl blushing noticeably and flattening her ears, her clawed toes curling a little due to embarrassment. "H-ha, yeah, um...let's get going, huh?" Trying to avoid eye contact while she recovered from the innuendo, Jii headed off to the start of the trail, and soon enough they'd be on their way.
