"No, no, no — I study in the day. I practice at night. Free time is for the weak and lazy, and taking a break would really cut into my studying time." He paused. "Besides, random people touching me all over? No, thank you."

Lei nodded. "I know, I know. I've read the entire 'manuals', so to speak. All ten scrolls. I know everything."

He sighed, getting up now and stretching a bit. "I think we've wasted enough time. I have to go to Paschalis in an hour and we really need to do this Math shit." He kicked some of the books he threw aside. "Urgh. Whatever. The janitor can clean this up."

...He was going to clean this up after this, wasn't he.

He refused to relax so she just mouth whatever at him before gathering up her supplies and begun to translate her speech for the project into English so she could solidify the words onto paper. When Lei said how the janitor would clean the mess up Kaya felt guilty so Kaya sent out her shadows to begin picking up books and placing them back on the shelves. That's when something bothered her. "Hey Lei... Isn't the project assignment for history? If so, why are you doing math?"

"It's math," he said flatly. He picked up his bag and pulled out two organizers and a planner, all impeccably organized in his also impeccably organized backpack. He opened all three of them to the latest pages that had notes on their schoolwork. Organizer 1: Math. Organizer 2: Math. Planner: History.

What???????????????

He pulled the stupid odd man out closer to his face. "No."

She caught a glimpse of Lei's backpack and stopped what she was doing to look at him skeptically. "Lei your stressing yourself a lot. I think you really should go to 'When in Rome' its just down the way and tell them I sent you. Won't cost you a dime and you can spend an afternoon relaxing. If you want you can ask them to leave you able to study. Just...you need a break you look like..."

right then Lei looked like he was going to snap."...you're about to snap..." Kaya sighed as she begun to rub her temples. "Once we finish this I swear by my family's name I will DRAG you there if you do not schedule a time your self to go."

But it was too late.

Lei had already snapped.

"I'm perfectly fine. Kaya." He dropped his planner on the floor and an ice pick strategically rose from the ground and pierced it through the middle. "I guess we're starting over!"

He picked up the notebooks and threw them in the air, half-laughing and half-crying. "It's cool! It's not like this is due tomorrow — oh wait, it totally is! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!"

Well this was different. She saw him throw his books onto an ice stalagmite as he slowly started to become more split. This worried Kaya as she didn't have a true way to snap him out of it. She had to think fast and she had to do it quickly. "Lei, you need to sit and calm down. I don't have ice powers to cool your head..." When he didn't look to be calming down she panicked a little herself.

Doing the only thing she could she used her magic to tie his hands and feet together with a blindfold just in case and lifted him of the ground an inch. "Lei, listen to my voice. Don't think of anything else. Listen to me, I have already done a good portion of it. We will be fine. If it will calm you down then you can proofread it." Kaya kept panic from entering into her voice as she kept a soothing gentle tone. She didn't know how or why but she felt odd talking this way.

This was... making Lei a hundred times more nervous. His time had been taken away, and suddenly his agency was too, and he started shivering, terrified. The fear really did calm him down, though.

He frowned at her words. The fear made way for responsibility, and he was only interested in getting the work done now.

"Fine. Give it to me. I'll turn your B paper into an A+ one. Can you put me down?"

Gently putting Lei down she undid her shadows and looked him in the eye. "Don't....don't do that again please. You may be scared of me coming at you with a deadly weapon. I'm scared of you cause if you freak out I can do SQUAT to stop you using powers to hurt people. and like you said, lets stay out of juvie...well, you stay out of juvie. I'd probably be sent to Dis or whatever." Kaya then turned around slowly to go back to cleaning up their mess as she also directed the shadows onto paper to finish solidifying into English text.

It took Kaya a while to finish putting the books away and sit down herself, she found Lei working still so while he was doing that she pulled out her cell and texted spa service reservations for that afternoon for two. She was goin to REALLY need some relaxation, deep tissue massage, mud bath, sauna, manicure, the works. Kaya did give Lei a look that if he knew what she was thinking would read, 'You're going, and you're going to LIKE IT'

"Argh. I'm bad with powers, except for ice." Lei took the paper and pulled out his red pen.

It was a pretty good paper... for a High Schooler. But Lei had the standards of a College professor. He first began organizing the thoughts into a cohesive people, scratching out the unnecessary filler, expanding on them and correcting English grammar and spelling, the whole shebang. English was his second language, but that didn't mean he could allow himself to be incompetent at it. Incompetence was Lei's worst enemy.

He heard... some odd things. Texting things. He thought he could let it go, but it looked like she was planning something. He gave her a look that would say 'you better not be doing what I think you're doing' before turning his attention back to the paper.

She watched him edit her work with heartless efficiency. It was quite amazing to her, she thought it was brilliant and here he was cutting it to shreds and building it back up. "How often are these 'saviors' in your village born? The way you make it sound is like once in a generation. Cause I'd say you might want to try teaching in the future instead of this protect the village shtick you're going for."

Kaya felt her stomach rumble a bit as she tried to start up a new conversation with Lei and with a flick of her wrist she opened a portal to her kitchen and pulled out some generic potato chips. "You want anything to eat Lei? Your probably hungry after all that stuff you did."
