It was a cause worth celebrating.
Although Takashi was still trying to catch up to the proper grade level for his age, he'd made a lot of progress since Pluto started helping him. The boy, despite his sort of bland demeanor, was very kind once he settled into their routine of being tutored and tutoring. Especially when he started relating their lessons to working out. That's how he knew they were good friends: they could talk to each other.
Though Pluto's ability to know everything meant that he could understand what Takashi wanted to say before Takashi said it, he still went through the effort of using his mouth to say things. He figured that was at least polite.
And now, thanks to that friendship, he'd passed his first benchmarking progress test of the year, and chances were he'd be bumped up a level in his remedial classes. Maybe he'd be able to be in the same class as Pluto before he graduated. Probably not, but it was good to have goals.
Takashi stood, waiting for Pluto to meet him. Well, stood was the wrong word for what he was doing--he was, more accurately, doing squats while waiting for Pluto to meet him. Since he had some downtime before they'd get going, he might as well get some training in.
He was also, very deliberately, not thinking about the plans he'd made for today. It was going to be a surprise.
He wasn't one hundred percent sure if that would keep Pluto from knowing, but he figured it was worth a shot.
