Day and Night; Constant Struggles

After he had finished eating, Shirigana turned off the TV and brought the scratching post upstairs to put it in Fluffy's room. "There ya go!" He said proudly. He glanced at the clock. It was mid-evening, around six o' clock. The sun would soon vanish beneath the horizon. "Time for me to get ta bed, Fluffy! Goodnight!" He called. He stepped into his room and turned out the light as he got into bed, neglecting to shut the door all the way. Despite his best efforts to design this room, it seemed to undo his hard work when he went to sleep; The walls were a deep dark red. His bed was a king-size and completely black except for the white pentagon on the blanket. Various medieval weapons lined one wall. Candles of varying sizes were lined up on candle holders on the other end. There wa a great variety of charms, all strange. Glass eyeballs adorned the ceiling. (At least, Shirigana GUESSED they were glass.) Above the bed hung the one thing that Shirigana managed to put in that stayed there: A dream catcher. Underneath the bed, unknown to Shirigana, was a locked chest filled with bones. He quickly fell asleep.

The sun descended beneath the horizon. Immediately the candles in Shirigana's room lit up with black flame. His blonde hair turned black. His white jacket and white shoes turned black. His gloves and shirt turned red. His eyes too went from blue to red. Shirigana rose out of bed, no longer Shirigana. The familiar stranger walked downstairs and turned on the television. He changed the channel to a gladiator movie, cheering whenever a limb was severed.

The man blinked, turning to face the source of the sound. His voice was different now. "Jeez. Shirigana has a soft spot for animals, doesn't he? I guess I'll have to do the same thing I did to the last one..." He rose to his feet and pointed his palm at Fluffy. "Shadow Cannon!" He said, commanding the shadows around him. They gathered in his hand, preparing to be launched as a devastating projectile... And a puff of smoke emerged from his palm. The man stood still as though in shock. After a minute, he moved again. He attempted to strangle the cat with her own shadow, but it passed harmlessly through her. Shojoro grumbled, sitting back down. "You're under Shirigana's protection." He complained bitterly, returning to his movie.

Shojoro glanced at her and fell out of his seat, surprised. He stood up, overcoming his initial surprise and dusting himself off. "When Shirigana loves something, a special kind of magic signature instills itself on them. This magic prevents me from obliterating said thing with my magic." He explained, climbing back into his seat. He grinned evilly. "He doesn't know about me yet." He added.

"In that case," He began, malevolence flashing through his eyes. "We have something in common." He stood up and put his hand out for her to shake. "I'm Shojoro Veras. And you are?"
