Appearance Description
Silas
Silas

Silas is a bubbly young british man with black and Middle Eastern heritage. He's all bounce, energy, and enthusiasm despite the dark subjects he makes himself at home in. He's rather bad at sitting still for too long.
Silas is tall and lean, six feet exactly, with broad shoulders, thinner hips, and long limbs. He's dark skinned, with black wavy hair that has a blue shine to it and thick brows. His eyes are large and a light spring green color. His cheeks always seem to be a bit flushed from all his pep and excitement.
The outfits he wears tend to be equally fun and neatly put together. He collects novelty bowties and other such things. He likes his clothes well fit to his body, but easy to move around in, with softer, flexible, and breathable fabrics.
One would get nothing but friendliness from Silas' general aura and behavior. Unlike Hawthorn, there is no sense of hostility from him. His voice is boyish, and he's all around youthful, though can also come across as scholarly and responsible in his passions and as a teacher. He's goofy, but does take his work and looking out for students seriously.
Hawthorn is an upper class british man of Romani heritage, from the Victorian era, who always holds his head high. He's also, by all official records, and through lack of a personal physical form, quite dead! When not possessing Silas, Hawthorn is only visible and existing to him, and him alone.
His eyes, however, have reflected a certain ice and ash in him for his entire life, even before his 'death'. If not for the way they can light up with pride or rage, one would label his eyes those of a corpse. When not that, they are the eyes of a threat. Hawthorn is well dressed, educated, and mannered for the most part, but there is a lingering hostility to him as a presence.
Silas grew up adapting into Hawthorn's body type, so they share in this, meaning less effort for Hawthorn when he wishes to use glamours to feel more like himself again. Hawthorn holds himself with far more perfect posture and confidence, appearing taller and more untouchable than he is, and has none of Silas' childish glee ready to burst from under the surface.
Hawthorn's hair is a rosy light brown, cut in a layered bob-like style that goes shorter in the back, longer in the front. It has the slightest waviness to it, but is mostly straight. His skin also happens to be brown, and while his father was a white man, he was never able to pass as the same-- something which affected him quite negatively and deeply in his original time period. His eyes are dark, with faint hints of red and a magic based purple. He has thinner eyebrows. His nose has a high bridge, and is rounded at the tip, all seeming rather finely carved. His lips are thin and delicate. His face is a perfect oval shape.
Hawthorn has many scars, in places usually covered by thick formal clothing, especially around his back and legs, which come from childhood physical abuse. His casual clothing, at the most, tends to still be along the lines of a button up shirt and slacks. He is uncomfortable with most too modern or relaxed styles. Hawthorn regularly carries a pocket watch, out of nostalgia. He misses his cane sword.
His voice is on the deeper side, and until he gets too agitated, is generally very smooth. He walks with long strides and controlled, but dramatic, movements. Hawthorn reeks of black magic and power.

Hawthorn
Hawthorn goes by his last name. His first name, Azazel, means 'scapegoat'. It has implications of being a sacrificial animal, and is used in some sources as the name of a demon. It was his father's idea of both a joke, and giving his son a life status. He despises it. Thus, there is a strong bitterness, anger, and desire to claw at power that has been a driving force in Hawthorn's entire self and history, from the very beginning-- from the moment he was given a name.
Powers/Species traits
Two overall powers are allowed. Species traits need to be included in full detail and might be considered a power in themselves depending on amount of traits unless passive. Be sure to include what it is, what it does, and strengths and weaknesses. If you'd like more than two powers, please contact the staff. Both can branch off to up to five distinct abilities.

Possessed
When being fully possessed, without Hawthorn wearing a glamour, Silas has inky, pure black eyes, thin black lines crawling visibly through his veins and skin, as well as thick, sticky, disgusting black blood. He drips with a sense of wrongness, like this.

Warlock
Warlock
While his father and order considered themselves wizards, Hawthorn took the label of warlock, and the more negative connotations that went along with it quite proudly. Hawthorn is quite the prestigious warlock, as he spent a good few years in a wizard order, being taught by Mikhainon, and going through a Dark Arts doctorate with his host/partially directing the young man's current teaching at the academy.
Although he focuses on personal specializations in his own practical magic pursuits, he's knowledgable in many black and darker grey magic branches- for educating and passion purposes-- and is often ready to throw himself into studying more. He has familiarity with most general arcane matters. His intellect is most valuable in areas like curses, dark creatures (such as demons, vampires, malicious spirits, nightmares, etc), harmful rituals and spells, necromancy, and the history of black magic. He can preform basic, completely non-combat spells for things like housework.
Driven by his lust for power and the encouragement of his demon teacher, Hawthorn undertook an ambitious ritual. This included slaughtering a prestigious order of wizards, brutally tying their souls and magical energy to himself, a horrifying act of black magic that went down in the history books. Most everyone has been led to believe the attempt failed, and that Hawthorn died from being stuffed with more magic than his mortal container could hold. This is half true. His original body is gone, but the magic remained.
He is quickly recognized by others as formidable. The downsides include that when he is in control of Silas' body, he cannot mask his power and presence. A gift and a curse. This means he cannot manage to be sneaky without some kind of strong outside assistance, and others generally know to be on edge with him right off the bat.
It can make him far too overwhelming for some to be around comfortably, but he usually doesn't see this as a problem. Except, this can attract negative attention, such as those who would like to leech from (with how much of it there is, it doesn't take much to scrape at and steal some of Hawthorn's leaking, very refined and pure magic-- but be careful, too much could be damaging, causing mortals or their bodies to break down gruesomely) or outright try to eat him.
Animal Shape

Hawthorn can take the form of a sleek raven, to complement what his old mentor Mikhainon favored, though nothing fancier. His aura is not at all masked when like this, which is something a little odd and amusing.
Blue Fire

Hawthorn has the personal power of producing a magical blue fire. It can either come from his hands or be breathed. This is a manifestation of the heated emotional state he has, and flames can involuntarily lick at the edges of his lips and fingers when he's boiling with anger. It's a mix of his own raw magic and extremely scorching fire. Outside of looking pretty, this is a purely destructive ability.
He can usually wield it well, but it can tire his host's body out fairly quickly, and revert him back to Silas so the poor man can go pass out. Hawthorn also has great difficulty using it when he's feeling too at ease and soft. This is the only magic he uses for active combat purposes. He can make quite a lot of fire just dance in the air when not focusing on making it dangerous, simply a visible energy lightshow with the appearance of fire.
Curse Rituals
Hawthorn's true passion happens to be embracing the habits of evil storybook witches, turning people into frogs and promising their first born ill will, in a system where you need full heartfelt apologies- even if Hawthorn was being petty as fuck-- in order to reverse it without side effects, and the curse fits the crime.
Ghost
While Hawthorn was completely successful in his ritual, he lost his physical form in the process, and is now a far fainter and more spiritual parasite of a being.

Silas
Silas' parents had always been eccentric fans of the spooky and mysterious. They collected novelties, dragged him along on adventurous vacations and tours, and eventually, they bought a real life haunted mansion to settle down in. The fact that it was cheaper was only the cherry on the cake. And truthfully? He shared their enthusiasm. Even at the young age of seven years old, he already adored the supernatural and exploring absolutely everything, even at times when he shouldn't have. His new home, the Hawthorn Manor, could be called a huge, ridiculous, disastrous 'shouldn't have'.
