"Oh I think I will l keep a distance from the sea for now. The park sounds wonderful. The perfect place to take a walk under the stars, hopefully." Besom looked up to admire the sky. Being kept in so many houses limited how often they could enjoy fresh air and nature all around them.

Looking back down, their smile had an excited edge to it. "I am taking this well, aren't I? I never had much to leave behind, and so far this world is pleasant enough. It would be a shame to ruin my own enjoyment with panic and paranoia."

Adelaida wordlessly began walking in the direction of the park, expecting Besom to follow. She thought of how well they took this ordinarily traumatic event, and she considered her own experience with taking things too well. "Nice to see I'm not the only one that's unflappable. Bit discomforting to be alone in that."

It was nice to have a kindred spirit, one who wasn't too shaken by things. It was small comfort and did a little to assuage the usual bouts of questioning.

"Park's nice at this time. Fresh air and everything. Just try not to pay attention to all the couples going at it."

Besom stayed beside Adelaida. They already had their mind set to follow her, seeing her as their only guide to this confusing maze of an island. There was likely a map out there, but until then, she was their map.

"I've lived too long and been through too much to be stunned with fear when faced with unfortunate situations. I've learned to grit my teeth and push through until I'm somewhere better." So far, there had been a lot of teeth gritting in their life. They couldn't remember the last time they relaxed. "And I don't mind public displays of sexuality. I've served Gods of Lust, Parties, Romance, and more."

Adelaida led. taking the fastest route down to the park. She'd been there late at night many times, enjoying the feel of seclusion without leaving the city proper. Of course, every now and then the occasional couple or junkie would put a damper on the night.

"You and I might not mind. But they will. Let's just try and leave them be, okay?" she said, standing at one of the entrances to the park. It was a large place, this park.

With a flourish she turned to Besom. She twirled a little to amuse herself as she introduced the park. "Here we are, the park. I usually only go here when I need space, so I can't say I know it like the back of my hand."

A soft giggle left Besom. If couples didn't want anyone seeing them sharing an intimate moment, they should go someplace private. Or perhaps they were exhibitionists who enjoyed people looking in. There were many reasons Besom could think of.

But here they were at the park, and so far, no exhibitionists around. "Ah, a lovely place. This island truly is lovely. It's so peaceful too." Two horned women walking a dog walked by and waved at Adelaida and Besom. Besom gave a big smile and waved back. "No one here seems to recognize me either. This can't be connected to my world, no. I should of known that .Transportation back would have been too easy with the portals."

"A brand new start for you, huh? I've been there. Led me here, just like a lot of the folk out here."

Adelaida put her fingers into the water of a nearby fountain. There were people around even late at night. Such was the island - never truly asleep. Just like her.

She sat herself down on the side of the fountain and took in a deep breath, enjoying the crisp and chill night breeze.

"And now, you're here too."

Besom followed her lead, unsheathing their broom to hold while they sat down on the fountain's edge. "You talk as if this is normal... Quite frankly, you've been strangely unimpressed by this entire situation. Do people come falling out of portals over the sky often?"

"You're the second I've fished out of the water, and I've had worse mishaps with portals. I don't mind sharing but a lot of people think I shouldn't be as okay with it as I am." Adelaida shrugged on the fountain-side, turning her gaze to the sky. She was extremely comfortable with her losses and traumas, and at times it made her question what was going on in her brain.

"You're doing pretty well too, considering.

"Second person... Nice to know I'm not that strange here. I wouldn't like to attract too much attention. Or any, if at all possible." They looked down at their clothes and cringed. Passersby took notice of it once in a while, but that all that often. A few times Besom saw people wearing their own strange clothing, such as a man wearing an outfit appropriate for the Victorian era.

"Anyway, I'm old. I've been through a lot and much worse than this. That isn't too say I'm not shaken up. Being thrown into a new culture because you're not wanted back home is an awful experience. I've already passed the panicking stage, however. Now I'm focused on making plans."

Well, it was good to see this person had their head on straight. Many people were caught up in the panic too long to be effective.

"What's on your mind then?" Adelaida asked, more for the possibility of conversation than interest. It was likely from the way they held themselves that whatever the plan they made was, Besom would manage to pull it off one way or the other.

"And you know my house is unlocked, so if you need a place..."
