At first, Hal tried to resist Lei turning his head to the screen but his neck wouldn't hold long and he was forced to face the "unpleasant scenery" Lei was insisting on. Hal had to shut his eyes to shield himself from the torture he was being subjected to. "Can't you tell the difference between a low-budget porno and romance movies?? Jurassic Park is a sci-fi thriller, what the fuck is wrong with you??"

At a last attempt, Hal tried to peel Lei's hands off his cheeks, but to no avail. "You can't make me watch this pathetic excuse for entertainment!!"

"I don't know what any of those words fucking mean! Are you just messing with my head right now, you stupid stale biscuit!?"

Lei glanced up to look at the horrors he was subjecting Hal to. It changed scenes. Oh, he remembered this part. The main lady's best friend went into the forest to look for her, only to find herself falling in love with a wily velosexraptor. Its claws were shaped like rubber dildos.

"You're going to watch it, baby wipes!" Lei, while holding the sides of Hal's face, attempted to open his eyelids with his fingers. "Watch it, damn you!"

"Did you live in a cave or something??" Hal screeched, trying to keep Lei's fingertips from reaching his eyes. He was not planning to give up yet. The audio was enough torture, he would have to admit and his sanity wouldn't let him watch this without freaking out. Why did women in porn movies have to sound so awkward, it was making him uncomfortable, if anything.

"I'm. Not. Going. To watch! This is harassment!! Let me go, asshole!!"

Lei tried to put the pressure more on Hal and he stepped forward —

When he fell backwards, hitting the back of his head with the counter, he realized — that majority of the story was frozen. "Ohhh... Oh fuck."

"I wasn't being racist!!"

Hal was being honest. He was being rude and insulting, but not to a point of racism. If anything, he didn't expect Lei would really have lived outside civilization to a point of not know anything about modernization.

Hal was just about to figure out a way out of Lei's grasp (probably by biting his hands) but Lei managed to slip on his own. Hal himself was caught off guard and fell out of balance with Lei but his small stature helped him to jump back. Instead of aiming to steal the remote, he went straight to the plug and pulled the power on the player and display. "Okay, I don't care if you're the only costumer here, asshole, I'm gonna ban you from this establishment for all I care." he screeched.

As if on instinct, he looked up to the door, the manager looking at him expectantly. Hal knew the guy had his eyes on him and waiting for him to mess up. Hal took a moment to compose himself. "Uh, hey, Mister Gomez," He looked at Lei then back at the other man, "...I can explain."

Mr. Gomez was fuming.

As the last video rental store owner in the entire world, Mr. Gomez attempted to cash in from the antiquity of his now-vintage DVDs. He took care of the CDs like a mother hen to its chicks. But now, his work was ruined... with ice. His video rental store turned into a winter wonderland.

"...I can explain."

But Mr. Gomez didn't want to hear it.

"YOU — YOU'RE FIRED!"

Lei, suddenly overcome with guilt (because of the ice and not because he forcefully made him watch low budget pornography), stood up and attempted to pacify Mr. Gomez. "Mr. Gomez — it was my fault!"

But he didn't want to hear that, either. He pointed angrily at Lei, wagging his finger.

"YOU — BANNED FOR LIFE."

The ban hit Lei like a broken heart, like a death of a dear old friend. Lei found happiness in the video rental store, perusing its CDs, bringing him to grand worlds. He began to sob a little.

They were immediately dragged out of the store. Lei slammed his body onto the store window. "No. My lifeblood. How can I watch movies now!?"

Hal wasn't able to explain.

He was aware the guy was just waiting for him to mess up because of his past history of getting fired from his old jobs. And this wasn't even his fault! Hal wasn't able to resist when he was forcibly dragged out of the store which was his last hope of having a decent job. Just as the store was mostly frozen, so was his hopes of feeling reliable with a job.

Hal was evidently taking this better than Lei though, despite the fact that it was he who had lost his job. Lei had an alternative, and Hal was going to find it hard to get another job that would suit him. "If you are really that stupid, there's something called internet where you can watch movies." Hal said impatiently, lightly kicking Lei's legs, "And you're not the one who just got fired, asshole!! This is all your fault!!"

Lei turned sharply. "What!? Don't be ridiculous. The internet doesn't have that kind of power! Why would anyone put movies in there it for free!?"

Lei, being the mature adult that he was, kicked Hal back. "It's just a freaking job! There are lots of jobs in the island!" He huffed, raising a finger. "...But only one video rental store."

Hal was just about to make a snarky reply when he realized he couldn't make one. Why did anyone really upload movies online for free? In high quality much less. Who would pay for a decent DVD and upload it, sharing it with the entire world illegally without asking for payment. Hal always thought the world revolved around money but then here's a loophole and Hal almost had an existential crisis.

"How the fuck should I know?? I get my movies for free and watch them anytime I want. As long as the law doesn't come after me, I don't give a fuck." Hal was worried about the law. But as far as he knew, Manta Carlos had no law that involved piracy.

"Update your calendar, by the way! It's 2015 and video rental stores are already out!" Hal continued to kick Lei back. "And my job matters, asshole! I can't find jobs I can put up with other than that and you just had to ruin my chance!"

Lei turned around to look forlornly at the happiest place on earth. Why must he destroy everything he loved?

Lei kicked Hal three times for emphasis that HE was the alpha. "The school literally pays for everything, even your weekly allowance! Why the fuck does it matter!? And if you really want to waste time for money, LOOK AROUND YOU, there are plenty of establishments with help wanted posters!"
