He
Ferris noded, he went to the spot of where the creatures were huddled to make sure he had the right scent, then he closed his eyes focusing on the smells of the creatures.

"Ones gone to the far west from here a lots of fruit around there I think...the other seems to have gone...up?...no that's not right...ahh it went up a small mountain ahead prehaps or a hill." ferris explained to the group

Still compiling his list, Marcus listened to the conversation. Charlie's plan seemed overly complicated if the Guide was right about how easy it was to control the herd. Maybe all they needed was just to work as a team.

"Well, If they split into two groups, we should too." Marcus inserted, reaching into his bag for the Collecting book, his notes forgotten. When he found it, he held it up to show the group. "I can also collect the creatures, just not for long. We could split into a group of a Tracker and a Collector, and get both simultaneously."

To be honest, he wasn't sure of his plan. The book could only hold unwilling creatures for about five minutes before they escape. If only for the speed, Marcus would have to be partnered with Ferris.

"The primary issue with that plan," said Charlie to the guide with a sigh "is that the box follows me, and only me. So for that plan, I'd have to come with you two."

The box was Charlie's prized possession. On sheer monetary value alone, it's contents had an astronomically high value. But it was more than that. He'd chiseled the box out of a cave wall, sacrificed many things to protect it. He never let it out of his sight. As Marcus voiced his plan, Charlie agreed. A pair of teams would work well. It would work better than Charlie ever letting the box out of his sight.

"If i stick with you" said Charlie, turning to look at the guide "As you stated you lacked the ability to properly defend yourself long enough to get close to the creatures, I can provide a numbers and combat advantage. Then we have a second team consisting of Ferris and Marcus. If you two need more boots on the ground, I can send some undead with you?"

Splitting up. The guide pondered things. One group to head towards the two creatures--both slightly apart, but at least close enough to do as one--and one to follow the guides own mental tracking.

Ferris to track, and Marcus to capture. Myself to track, and Charlie to capture, it repeated, thinking for a moment more. If you wish to follow this plan, then we can, but the forest is dangerous. We will need a way to be in contact with each other, so...

The guide twisted its upper body around as if it had no spine at all, its arms pulling the flap of its bag up and reaching through. Before long it withdrew its arms, holding up two two-way radios which had clearly been modified for its use. There were straps on the side, allowing it to carry them without hands, and it held one out for Ferris or Marcus to take.

Please remain in contact.

He
Ferris took the radio, he looked at marcus and nodded to him. "Since you'll be capturing I'll be keeping contact with the guide, unless you prefer to have radio since I'll be leading you to the creatures." he explained.

Getting a look at marcus he seemed to be less of a hunter so maybe it would be better if the radio was in his hands, but ferris knew that appearences could be deciving. For all he knew Marcus might be a worthy opponent or maybe just someone who wanted to help out, though its hard to believe someone would take a risky job without being an adequate warrior, thus why ferris tried to respect everyone here a bit more than others.

Just what was the Guide? Maybe some sort of Insect? Nah, it doesn't matter, Marcus had decided. "I'll carry it.You are faster, so it would be better if I ran communications."

He took the radio from Ferris. "So which pair would be taking which way?" Hopefully, whichever was chosen, He got the singular creature. It would be easier to capture, and he'd only have to worry about the one escaping.

"I guess we're following the red one, since you can track it" said Charlie, to their guide. Handheld radios. Now there was a technology he understood. None of this fancy GPS mobile nonsense, good old fashioned RF. People placed too much stock in technology. Messenger pigeons had been good enough for centuries, along with good old hand and foot. People used this to communicate important information, but now, all they communicated was banality.

"Shall we follow the way the red marked creature went?" Said Charlie, pointing in the direction the guide had earlier.

"Do you two want some of my undead to go with you?" Charlie asked Ferris and Marcus. The numbers advantage might be helpful, but Charlie knew many were unwary amongst his undead. Hell, until recently, that would have been a wise opinion.

The guide would wait until Ferris and Marcus determined if they needed an undead before setting off, heading into the woods. Up close, it would be clear that alien or otherwise, Charlie's guide was a creature of the forest. It's mottled green skin made it hard to spot at a distance, and its multitude of legs allowed it to move smoothly as well.

It would guide Charlie through the woods, relying on its own power. It didn't bother to stop and check for marks or other signs, setting a quick pace as it continued.

Ferris and Marcus would have to be more careful, and as Ferris tracked, he'd discover that about two hundred feet from the clearing, the two other creatures had met up, travelling together. They definitely hadn't gotten far, and if they were quick, it would take no more than five minutes to catch up.

Ferris thought about charlie's offer, however ferris didn't like mindless undead creatures being around him considering he's had to fight and hunt numerous of those in the past, he did however like the extra help in case marcus needed help or hell maybe himself too.

"Charlie we'll take 4 of your undead legion, just have to be sure they don't get in my way." ferris said as he focused on the scents of the missing creatures and guided marcus with the undead to the path that lead to the creatures.

(( I chooooose...3 :P))

(2 for me!)
Marcus looked away, focusing the weight of the radio in his hand. The idea of Undead soldiers, even if they were for protection, was kinda disturbing to him. But it had to be done, so he put up with it for the time being.

He followed Ferris, looking at them nervously. They going further into the forest, and it was entirely possible they weren't the only ones here. Even with the Undead Bodyguards, Marcus was still unsure of his safety. "Can you tell how far they are with the smell?"
