The guide turned its head to Ferris, seeming to listen as he explained that the plan was what they'd just witnessed--the smokebomb, the capture of half, and that was that. It listened to Marcus's question, but did not reply immediately, waiting for Charlie to return, explaining his new plan.

If the guide was at all bothered by the fact that Charlie appeared to be slowing, it showed no sign... but then it hardly seemed to react to anything.

In fact, it seemed quite unusual when it trotted over to Charlie, it's movement smooth and practiced, although perhaps a bit too much like a giant centipede that decided to sit up.

The creatures are not fast, their guide said, answering Marcus's question. A practiced human could outpace them. The issue is the terrain. They are more adapted to it than any of you are, save perhaps Ferris, who can travel across the treetops.

There was a moments pause, the creature seeming to stare up at Charlie.

Why did you not listen to me?

(Whelp, guess it's my turn then)
Marcus nodded at the answer given but surprised at what it did afterward. Was the Guide about to lecture Charlie?

Eager to not stay out in the forest any longer than they should, Marcus spoke up again. "Which way did they go? Maybe we could stop them before they get too far, or at least slow them down."

"What do you mean?" Charlie questioned the guide, as the sarcophagus scuttled behind him "Ferris and Marcus gassed the group. They didn't get all of them, but those that we didn't catch will probably be pretty drowsy. We didn't get the red one, so you can still track it. We captured the creatures that were knocked out, and placed them somewhere they will be safe and contained until we can return them. In what way did I not listen?"

Charlie was in control now. This felt natural. Giving orders, the general behind his army. He was in his element. Sure the three non-undead members of the party still had their own views and actions, but they seemed to be deferring to him for decisions. But Charlie was irritated at being questioned. At the edge of his shoes, small blades of grass began to turn black and die. Charlie was still in his natural environment. In charge.

"So either: Some of the faster runners in the group, such as Ferris and a few of my undead run in pursuit of the creatures, and hope they find them. The issues with that are, due to the smoke, we have no idea what direction they ran off in, or even if they ran off as a group or not. You said you can track the red one?" Charlie questioned their guide "and it's imperative we catch that one last. or, as they appear to exist as some form of herd, so they will regroup. Then you can track the red one, we find the herd, we capture them. Or, alternately, we take one of the creatures that we captured, return it to the field, somehow detain it there, to use as bait, and see if the flock returns. It's a group decision."

Charlie certainly had not listened, and while the guide was barely emotionless, anyone paying close enough attention would notice that his lower pair of arms seemed to be twitching slightly.

I told you that rounding them up would not be difficult, the guide thought at them all. And that the real difficulty was in transporting them. This is why I sought help, rather than doing it myself. I do not have the ability to pick them up and carry them, save one by one.

The guides arms would make it clear why such a thing wasn't possible. Even with four arms, they really had only the dexterity of a single human hand, and would no doubt have difficulty carrying them.

The guide's head swiveled between the collective group, obviously no longer addressing just Charlie.

I asked what the plan was, and you did not answer. If you had told me, I would have told you that it wasn't necessary. If the man with a box of skeletons had simply had them circle the clearing, they could have herded the creatures into our hands without trouble. They are, as I said, not difficult to round up.

It's lecture finished, their guide proceeded to sit down, a bizarre and awkward motion that mostly involved folding its legs under it, so that the bottom of it's body lay across the grass.

We should not leave until we have a clear plan. I can track the red one, but there is no guarentee they will return here.

"Well my intention with the sleep gas was to make it easier to round them up, I thought if they couldn't move that it would be so. I didn't tell you specifically cause I didn't think you cared about the method of rounding them up." ferris scratched behind his ear and then looked forward at the forest as the smoke cleared

"What's done is done, no point in starring at my mistake. The plan now should be to just grab them and get them in Charlie's box." ferris turned to the teacher "If you can track the red one for us then we'll do just that, or at least hav Charlie and his undead take them this time, any of the ones that aren't with the red marked one, I can track them. I have their scent memorized."

The guide was right, they had acted without thinking ahead, and lost some of the herd due to their actions. Marcus dipped his head a bit. Maybe they [should] wait a bit and form a cohesive plan. That way, they wouldn't fail again and stay even longer in the forest.

Still leaning against the tree, Marcus pulled another book. This one wasn't for reading, as Marcus took out a pencil and began to write down a list of Possible items he could take out from the books he had with him. If they were going to try to create a plan, he might as well show them his potential.

"I don't see why i'm bearing the brunt of this. I believe I'm the only one who would be unaffected by the fog. I simply rolled with whatever was going on, and made the best of it. It was unwise to go charging into battle without a game plan before hand, so we need to make one."

"The creatures seem to scatter. So we'll need some way to contain them. I'm thinking, I can give us a numbers advantage with my undead, but beyond that, I don't really have a way to reliably knock them unconscious without causing permanent harm."

A plan was formulating in Charlie's head now. He was working angles, picking out undead to use. Strong ones. They didn't need to be offensive, merely defensive.

"can these creatures jump? If so, how high." Charlie questioned their guide, before turning to Marcus "Do you have a maximum size of an object you can bring out of books? any other restrictions?

Charlie turned back to the group. How could he use each member's abilities to their highest potential. He had a man who could pull pretty much any object he needed out of books, and a speedy supernatural hunters.

"I'm thinking we have my undead form some sort of circular barrier, holding up a net to ensure the creatures don't escape. You said the creatures aren't fast, so our Mr Ferris here should be able to catch them. So, we have Mr Ferris here jump over the barrier, and use some sort of blow dart gun, or something, and chase the creatures, catch them, and inject them with the sleeping draft. Opinions?"

The guide was finished with being quiet, pondering without asking. Instead, it was more direct, listening to each in turn.

Ferris is capable of tracking them. This will help us locate the others. It noted, although it seemed to be restating just for clarity.

Their guide stared at Marcus with all of its eyes for a brief moment, unsure of what he was doing, before turning back to Charlie.

Even now, you do not listen. They scattered because they were attacked. If you were to approach them slowly, you could herd them even as a single person. With two people, it would be easy. They do not jump, or even run if you approach them slowly. We must track them now, with Ferris's help, and then capture them. If your box can keep up with us, we could simply place them in there, as you did the first few.

The guide gestured to Ferris, and then pointed out into the woods.

The marked one is this way, so if you would find a trail going another way, we can speak as we walk.
