Near the designated meeting point at the edge of the forest, a creature waited. It was very firmly not human, and even calling it humanoid would have been a massive stretch. It was a mottled green, with a centaurian body shape. Rather than four legs, it had eight, and it's body was largely featureless, lacking hair, ears, or anything similar. The upper half of it's body had something that approximated a torso, with two sets of arms, one from the shoulders and one from around where a bellybutton would have been if it had one. Its arms had no hands, nor did it's legs have feet. Instead, they had flexible appendages which ended in fine points, requiring the use of all four upper limbs to manipulate objects. It's head didn't look quite right from a human perspective, not having much in the way of a neck, and it had four pitch black eyes but absolutely no mouth.

Resting in the crook of it's back was a bag, the strap slung across it's shoulder to hold it in place. Its body language was relatively close to relaxed, but it was hard to tell when dealing with something that was so obviously non-human.

Ferris walked quietly with his teammates on this job, it was something new for him to try. A monster hunt that required you to not kill the creature, but he did have to catch it. Another new thing for ferris was working with others that weren't a part of his family, he mostly avoided people during classes and activities but in this event he had to deal with them.

This creature however...it was very strange, theres no excuse for ferris to not use the benefits of being a team, he silently looked to the other 2 that the assignment brought. His usual cold hard stare and silence to them, ferris of course is obivious to this, but he hoped these teammates would be courageous enough to take command. Afterall ferris was mostly a killer, so it stands to reason to let someone more in line of capturing this beast take the lead.

Even if....ferris really want worthy hunt. *Ferris smiles internally*

He had seen a lot of weird things -People, Marcus reminded himself- But the ranger leading the group took the cake. The thing had twelve limbs, and not one had hands or even fingers. Goodness knows where it evolved from.

Marcus was part of an expedition to find a missing monster from the bonfire, so he and a few others were going deep into the forest to get it. He remembered hearing about how dangerous it going to be, but against his best will, Marcus still went along with it. At least capturing the monster would mean it would be safer for other people.

Of course, he had his book bag with him, but, in preparation for the lack of light that would occur, had also brought along a special pair of glasses, one with a torch attached. Hopefully this time, he wouldn't have to electrocute himself in order to get a weapon.

As Charlie stood wove his way through the forest, the stone bulk of the sarcophagus charging it's way through the brush behind him. Their charge had been to contain, not destroy the creature they had been told to seek. He had several undead of particular use waiting in the mouth of the sarcophagus, waiting for his call. Ones that could take a lot of damage, rather than deal it out. Flesh golems were a must, and the old classics Sherbert and the Undead Wreathed in Chains were amongst the creatures waiting. The slumbering skeleton of Deadwing also waited amongst them, but he was a last resort, only to be used if the creature became out of hand, which hopefully it wouldn't. Charlie was not doing this for the money, but rather for the chance to see these creatures and... if noone was looking, take samples.

Charlie saw their guide, the strange creature that was waiting for them in the darkness of the forest. The guide was so inhuman, so strange, even Charlie wondered at it's species. He has some semblance of a Thallid, thought Charlie, but Thallids only had four legs, whereas this one had eight. Some sort of hybrid? He silently reminded himself to attempt to arrange a meeting with the guide, after all the business with the creature was done with.

"So" said Charlie, briskly, with a beaming smile on his face "What are we waiting for?"

The guide waited until they'd all arrived, it's posture almost entirely unmoving. It wasn't until Charlie spoke that it seemed to acknowledge they'd all gathered, it's head turning between each in turn.

It didn't speak in the normal human manner. Instead, their guide was firmly telepathic, speaking directly into their brains. They would simply know what it was saying, without having heard any words at all.

We are all here now, it thought. There is a small group of creatures deep in the forest. They have made their home there, but they need to be retrieved and brought back. I am capable of tracking them into the woods, but I lack the ability to properly defend myself long enough to get close. The forest is dangerous.

The message would go silent, and the creature stared expectantly at the group for a few moments.

Please explain your capabilities, so as to better work with each other. There will be danger.

Ferris was taken back, the creature was actually their guide? And a telepath at that.

"My name is ferris, I am a werewolf with hunting experience of supernatural creatures and animals. I am efficient with alchemy magic and I carry a magical ice greatsword." ferris summoned his blade in a icy flash with snow sprinkling off of the blade itself, "I can boast my strength to be able to lift the average car."

Ferris looked at the guide and walked to his side watching the forest, making sure no creatures around are in the area that may come for them.

Marcus was amazed at the Werewolf, how had this guy gone unnoticed? There had to be a record of someone with that guy's skill. Wait, now it was his turn, and everyone was expecting him to answer. "Yeah," He began, unsure how to follow the previous introduction. "I can take things out of books."

The other guy seemed familiar as well. Maybe he was a teacher at the university? The Sarcophagus seemed like a weird touch. Maybe he was a mummy? That would be interesting.

"Hi, I'm Charlie" responded Charlie, with a smile, and then, with a thumbs up to everyone, said "I do necromancy, and I have a box full of zombies!"

Charlie tapped on the sarcophagus, like someone might pat a beloved car. Charlie preferred to talk verbally, rather than telepathically, due to various quirks of how his mind worked, often verbal communication was the more friendly option.

he recognized Marcus from around the academy, they had had brief conversations once or twice at the community centre, but the third guy, Ferris, was an unknown. The show of the sword certainly was flashy. How good any of them were fighting whatever they were up against remained to be seen. Charlie was very extremely excited to see how the ranger, the strange creature they had met would handle himself.

Their guide did not seem impressed or disappointed. In fact, he effectively had no response at all, beyond that he turned to each member in turn as they explained what they were capable of.

I am capable of broadcasting my thoughts in a way that is understood by all, the creature thought. And I am capable of tagging creatures with my powers to allow me to find them again. I will guide you, as I can go directly there. Unfortunately, there is no path there, and thus we will be going straight through the forest.

Which would pose several major issues.

If everyone is prepared, we will begin. Please remain close behind me, so as to disturb the forest as little as possible.

The moment everyone signaled they were ready, their guide would head straight into the forest, ducking between two trees. Surrounded by greenery, their guide would be difficult to see, and require a lot of attention to keep up with.

Ferris, after despawning his greatsword, would follow the guide while sneaking through the woods, he tries to become invisible in the sense that he will walk on the balls of his feet to minimize sound, he'd cover his with non itchy plants and some dirt around, he'd slow his breathing down to cool his body temperture best he can, and of course hed stick to the shadows and stay low.

Aside from focusing on the path ahead hed make sure to look back now and again to his teammates in case they were behind, or lost track of him because of his sneaking.
