"I'm just peachy."

"Sarcasm?" Cordelia questioned, an eyebrow raised. She would imagine that it was, seeing the condition the girl was in. The woman had to make sure, though.

As Loriana moved her shoulders, the former mother narrowed her eyes. "Moving like that is only going to end up hurting you," she said to the younger female. "You're injured enough. Be careful, Loriana." She didn't want the girl to get even more hurt than she already was. That definitely wouldn't be good, and it would make for a longer hospital stay.

"So how long do you want me to stay with you?" the vampire asked. She would stay for as long as Loriana wanted, since being in this place alone could probably be frightening. Plus, the mother in her wanted to make sure that the girl turned out alright.

(Seems I can do sarcasm... ^^ )

''It seems I am capable of it.'' She replied.

Her weakened state had not dazed her mind as much as one could have expected. Loriana was a little afraid of being left alone though. Some people might have thought her too old to hold such concern, but she was in a state of utter vulnerability. Anyone would be a little scared in that case as well as she was in unknown territory.

''I am being reasonably careful... I just don't like hospital that much...'' She said again.

Its not that she had had long stays in one or that she had been beaten up much, but she had never liked those, thats all. fidgeting a bit, the young woman didn't really know how long she wanted Cordelia to stay with her.

''I don't know...'' She replied in a tone that carried a small nearly unoticeable whimper.

''It seems I am capable of it.''

An amused sort of smile came to her face. "Hoorah," Cordelia said, though she wasn't being sarcastic at all. If other people were sarcastic, then she was pleased. It was just one of those things.

''I am being reasonably careful... I just don't like hospital that much...''

"Pfft, who does?" the woman asked. To her knowledge, no one ever liked being sick or being in a hospital for long. Unless, of course, it was for a good reason... but generally, it wasn't very likely to enjoy it.

''I don't know...''

Noticing the fidgeting and having heard the whimper, the vampire offered a kind smile. "Alright. I'll just stay for however long you want or need me to, no rush. Or until you're better. Is that ok?"

A small smile graced the wounded girl's lips. She could very well hear that Cordelia was genuinely happy to hear she was capable of sarcasm, nobody had ever been happy for her, not really. People tended to just avoid her.

"Doctors maybe, when they are not patients that is." She replied with a smile in her voice. "Or people who are going to be told they can be released. They'd be happy to be told… But that doesn't really count does it?"

A real smile illuminated her face when the vampire told she would stay with her until she was better or until Loriana had no need for her reassurance anymore.

"You'd really stay? Most people don't want to even approach me because I am freak…" She said, the last part being told in a whisper.

Loriana was not aware of the extra sensitive senses of the other woman or she probably would not have been this truthful about what she thought of herself deep down. Since it was discovered she had 'powers', they had rejected her even more than they had done before.

"Thank you, I don't know what I'd do if I was alone here."

"... But that doesn't really count does it?"

The widow laughed softly. "No, I don't think it does," she said. If they were being released then they would be leaving the hospital, not staying. "But I do think seeing someone overjoyed to be in a hospital would be rather amusing." Cordelia smiled at the thought of it. Hopefully she would get to see that over the course of her life at least once.

"You'd really stay?..."

"Of course I would," the twenty-year-old said. "If I didn't intend on staying I wouldn't have said I would." Her ears then picked up the last part and she frowned, not liking that she was putting herself down. Although she did it quite a bit herself when she was down, it still wasn't healthy. "You're not a freak, Loriana. People are just closed-minded and can't accept what's different from them. It's not your fault at all." Whoever had lowered this girls self-esteem like this definitely had to hope they never met the mother. She would pound them to death if she met anyone that had hurt this girl.

"Thank you, I don't know what I'd do if I was alone here."

Cordelia smiled. "It's no problem at all, I understand the feeling. If you ever get hurt and need me to stay with you again, just ask, ok?" For a vampire who was always rather rude, she was being quite nice to this girl. But the poor thing had gone through so much... she didn't deserve any more unkind words. Cordelia at least knew when enough was enough.

"It probably would be, imagine someone skipping in the hospital's hallways…" She said laughing.

The laughing made her wince softly as it jostled the newly closed wounds on her back. This entire not moving thing had awakened pain that she had managed to forget earlier on. She might have had a high endurance against pain, it was like trying not to sleep, and you could manage not to sleep if you never closed your eyes or take a small nap. If you did, you'd be very tired and not be able to be awake since the body had adjusted to being asleep. Anyways…pain management was similar.

The reassurance that Cordelia would stay, she had assured the younger woman twice now, brought some warmth to her heart. Perhaps they were not all bad if she was an example of what mankind could produce.

"Just because I've got wings doesn't mean I don't have feelings…" She muttered.

She had trouble accepting what she was telling her about not being a freak; years of mistreating could do that to someone. The issue ran deeper than just her wings, her parents had never wanted her and they never skipped a chance to tell her how much a burden she was and how they had never wanted her to live.

"I'll ask you if that ever happens. I just hope I won't have to be in the hospital again for a while." She replied.

This time, she probably would have to stay at least a week because of the reaction she had had to the medication she had been given. She needed to be monitored in case something came up related to that, side effects… coma, heart problems… that sort of consequences. She'd then have to get a bracelet or necklace that told she was allergic to that sleeping drug.

Since she wasn't really registered in the public health system, it would cause some difficulties, and since she was underage, she would probably be shipped back to her parents if it was discovered that she had ran away. In either of the cases, she was screwed. She could not sign by herself and could not stay with her parents…

"They'll probably send me back…" She told scared.

She didn't want to go back; her parents were not exactly a model of the perfect couple. They would not even care she was there or if they did, they would probably just beat her for being such a freak burden.

"I don't want to go back." She whispered.

Her wings would have folded around her if she had been able to, but only one did. The other was maintained in place by the cast. It was similar to one crossing his arms and hugging himself or herself to ward off the cold, but this time it was fear. Many children in her case would have defended its parents, but she had understood that what her parents did was not exactly right, but it had been ingrained in her that she was unwanted, that nobody would ever care.

That was why she was so surprised by how Cordelia acted, by how she had suggested she stay with her. To her it had seemed foreign, but she was in no condition to hide those feelings as she usually did. What she was telling right now was what was deep down in her heart. It would take years to correct.

Loriana sure was a messed up kid.

(Once again Addie, I would need to make some minor changes to her personality and perhaps her history… Could you open up her Bio?)

((OoC: Opened ^_^ ))

—————————————-

"It probably would be, imagine someone skipping in the hospital's hallways…"

Cordelia snorted accidentally as she laughed. Had she been a lot younger and hanging out with old, now nearly forgotten friends, she probably would have done that. Just to annoy the hospital staff at most, though — she was never one to have really shipped. "Haha! Well, here of all places, that could actually happen. Most are abnormally cheerful or just weird...." the twenty-year-old told. Most everyone she had met here was cheerful, and it bothered her somewhat.

"Just because I've got wings doesn't mean I don't have feelings…"

Such a true statement. Shame that few humans actually understood that. "I couldn't agree with you more," the woman said. Honestly, what was wrong with the people of the world? "As I've said before, it's sickening how people can treat others."

"They'll probably send me back… I don't want to go back."

This statement puzzled the vampire. An eyebrow rose in both confusion and concern, unsure of how to react at first. The conversation had completely shifted now; once minute they were laughing, the next, something like this had come up. As Loriana wrapped that one wing around herself, Cordelia began to get the feeling that it was either something saddening or upsetting... hence why she didn't want to go back, most likely.

"Go back where?" Cordelia asked. If it was anywhere that would be harmful to Loriana's wellbeing, she wasn't going to let the girl go there. She would personally make sure that the girl remained as happy as possible and that not so much harm came to her in the future. Well... she would do her best to make sure of that, at least.

(I finished updating her bio, thanks Adz.)

The laugh of the older woman was pleasing to hear, the snort was even amusing and it brought a smile to her face yet again. It was astounding how many times she had smiled in the last few hours, she had smiled more than in the last few years combined.

"Perhaps there is something in the air." She replied.

She honestly would not know. The young woman had not been there long enough to be affected. Mankind was something to be mistrusted in her book, but something was drawing her towards the vampire, perhaps her inhibitions were running low because of all that jazz that was happening to her, but Cordelia had proven to be more gentle than anybody else she had ever met.

"To my parents, they'll send me back if I stay here..." She supplied.

That thought made her want to hide even more, she had to get out of there and fast or the child service agents would come for her, they'd get her to go back to her parents' place... Even just thinking about it made her shudder in fear. She had to get out, she really had to get out, and she meant now.

"I have to get out." She murmured panicked.

Trying to push herself off the bed, the adrenaline rushed through her and in what seemed lik no time, she was effectively sitting on the bed trying to get the IV out of her arm. All her movements seemed frantic and quite a bit panicked, it showed strenght hse didn't have at the moment, but adrenaline could do wonders to somebody.

In fact, her most recent bout of panick was due to the rising fever that had started to devellop just before she had entered the hospital wing, at that moment, it could have passed off as being a normal temperature but not anymore. She couldn't manage to pull the Iv out, so she tried standing up to get away. Fortunately for her, she was not strong enough for that and litterally sawyed on her feet.

(I am being mean and loving it...)

"Perhaps there is something in the air."

Cordelia blinked and tilted her head to the side. "Huh?" she asked, not knowing what that was directed to. She may have had black hair, but she could really have her blonde moments at times. Even so, the statement had confused her.

"To my parents, they'll send me back if I stay here..."

Oh. It was apparent not that Loriana didn't like her parents. If they had mistreated her... oh, they would definitely get hell from the twenty-year-old. Abuse was something that Cordelia didn't stand for, especially when it was parents hurting their own children. "I see... I could help you escape if you want."

"I have to get out."

That statement made her want to take her words back. There was obviously something wrong, and Cordelia quickly looked over the girl. As soon as she sat up, the vampire jumped out of her seat and ran to the girl, not really knowing what she could do. Maybe she could at least hold her down and have a nurse try to calm her down and take care of her medically.

Once Loriana stood and was swaying on her feet, the former mother took the girls shoulder in her right hand and her waist in the other, trying to steady her. "Loriana, sweetie, calm down. Lay back down, I promise I'll never let your parents get you, ok?" she whispered in a soft, promising voice, trying to sooth the poor child. The woman checked Loriana's forehead and gulped at the sign of the fever.

She would take care of this herself. She didn't trust those nurses.

Grabbing a cloth and wetting it in a nearby sink, she quickly wrung it out and put it to the teenager's forehead. Convenient how this was all right near her so she wouldn't have to let go of the child.

"Come on, sweetie. Lay down. Do you want me to get a nurse?"

She would only get one if the girl started getting really bad. She probably should have gotten one already, but... well... she just didn't trust them! The nurse from before had screwed up, so who was to say they wouldn't again?

Loriana had meant tha perhaps there was something in the air that made people be too cheery and overly energised. Perhaps it was just the persons who were more carefree. She was so intent about getting the hell out of there that at first she didn't hear the soothing words adressed to her by the older woman.

Well, she heard them, but in her state of panic, she could not understand a word Cordelia was saying. The tone was not lost on her though. Loriana had heard tones of voice that had been similar to this one, but Cordelia didn't have the veiled threat in her voice, the utter malvolence was not present.

Loriana could not repress the flinch tha came over her as the gentle hands tried to steady her. It hadn't hurt, but the contact was something that she had learned to distrust. When she had been fixed by the nurse, she was too in lalaland to care. Loriana let the words Cordelia was saying try and sooth her distressed mind.

The cold cloth on her forehead helped her calm down a bit, in the simple way that the temperature shocked her a bit. She was not anywhere good to be left alone, but she now would at least not try to escape on her own, which would not be good.

''No, not the nurse please..." She whispered.

Leaning onto the odler woman, Loriana could not help but bury her face in Cordelia's shirt, hiding from the world.
