"Pfft, how do you watch colors argue? Jake are you sure you didn't hit your head?" Luke giggled before he relaxed. He watched as the scenery slipped by. Apparently they had been in town much longer than expected, as the sun slowly began to dip towards the horizon setting the sky ablaze in hues of red and orange. "Are we close to the dorms yet?" Luke asked whilst he stretched and then yawned.

Luke rubbed his face in an attempt to wake himself up and then stared at his hands in a puzzled fashion. "Jake..why are there black smudges on my hands..?" He asked quietly while slowly turning to give Jake an unwavering stare.

He waited for him to answer, although he was fairly certain he already knew what he was going to say. Luke crossed his arms and huffed, "This better be good." He thought to himself.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure. You were talkin' crazy," he said as he continued to push the wheeled chair along the sidewalk. This was Jake's favourite time of the day - on the cusp of the evening whilst light still trickled through the sky like molten lava. He nodded, though luke was in front of him so he wouldn't have seen. "Not too far."

His pace slowed until he stopped whilst he thought of how to respond, trying not to laugh as Luke turned around. "Oh...erm...well, when you fell, you knocked over one of those stands that had all those little bottles of polish. Ya know, the stuff you put on leather furniture to look better. The stand came crashing down and one of the bottles just burst...cos the stand fell on it. You got some on ya." He started to ramble. That was what he tended to do when he didn't know what to say. Quite pleased with his answer, he nodded to himself, turned the chair (and Luke) back around and began to push him in the direction of the dorms again.

Luke's eye right eye twitched slightly as he put two and two together. "Jake...They don't sell furniture polish at the store. They apply it before they ship the furniture out." Luke deadpanned. "If you're going to lie, at least do it correctly." He said and then huffed, crossing his arms.

"At least the sky is pretty." He thought to himself as he gazed at the colors that danced over the fluffy clouds. Everything was calm and had that odd air of drowsiness in the transition from dusk to night. His eyes began to slowly close before he shook himself awake. "Did I seriously almost fall asleep again..I need something to keep me awake." Luke thought to himself before he decided upon the one thing that'd keep him awake.

"Might as well do it, there aren't many people around as it is.." He thought as he slowly slid the bracelet he had received from the infirmary off his wrist. Something clicked in his mind and the emotions of those around him began to filter into his consciousness. Jake's emotions were the clearest, while the few souls strolling about the streets were more muted as their emotional highs and lows weren't as large.

Jake blushed slightly. He'd never been good at lying and he knew it, well at hiding some aspects of the truth at least. A small grin started to crawl upon his face from the scribbles on Luke's face, the child inside him finding the situation way funnier than it actually was.

The constant rattling of the wheels against the pavement as they made their way was beginning to annoy him, ringing in his ears with the occasional stone clanging and flying off in the other direction as though they were fleeing from the chair. He noticed Luke slowly remove the bracelet, similar to the ones he saw when the virus broke out. It suppressed powers, which he presumed was what its purpose was in this case instead of being a fashion accessory.

Finally, they crossed the threshold to the school grounds, the sun barely peeping over the horizon. The grounds were still filled with people scattered around, though not as populated as it usually was during the day.

Luke hopped off the chair once they were back at the school grounds. "Uh..Thanks for helping me and everything..I know you didn't have to do it and I probably wasted your time but..Thank you.." He awkwardly said, fidgeting in place and looking everywhere but at Jake. He scratched his head sheepishly as he attempted to find something to make the situation less awkward.

The only thing he settled on was awkwardly chuckling before he shoved his hands into the pockets of his hoodie. "I-I can probably managed to get the chair up the stair..You can go if you have something else you need to do.." He trailed off, not believing himself being able to carry the chair up to his room at all.

"Bjorn could probably manage it..But he's not here. You don't need him anyway...Christ this is awkward." He thought to himself, he shifted his weight from foot to foot in an effort to defuse the situation. "I don't know what to do..Damn it!"

"No problem. Not like I had something else to do," he joked as he watched the boy avoid eye contact like he was in trouble for something. Jake found it amusing how awkward this kid was, mostly because he had found someone who was more so than him. "Nope. Got no plans as usual." It was true. He rarely had plans. Life was so much easier when you didn't plan the events in your life, just enjoy any that come to you.

"We've made it this far, why would I leave you to finish the quest alone? I'm fine lifting a desk chair up a few flight of stairs," he offered, looking Luke up and down. He doubted he could do the job without any help.
