"I want you to be happy too though," Dalia said, nuzzling against Alexis. She could see that he did, in fact love her. And she at least thought that that was enough. But she didn't want another scenario like with Jax. She didn't want to be left again. "I want to make you happy. That would make me happy."
She laughed just a bit, feeling more at ease with Alexis the longer they talked. They were both awkward and scared, though for different reasons. "I've always been looked at weird. I'm the psycho who attacked Argenta. I'm the girl who came to school with bruises because I tried and failed to kick my mom's ass. I'm the girl that challenged and beat adults in the arena." Maybe she wasn't making sense, she realized. So Dalia kissed Alexis again to break the awkward silence, more gently this time and letting it longer for a moment.
"I'm not worried about what people think of me. I think I'm supposed to say something like 'I do what I want.' That sounds very me, right?"
