Remi shifted her leg back to normal and wobbled away from Azalea. As she fell back onto the ground, she panted lightly and looked dizzily up at the trees above. Then, she let out a groan that was a mixture of exhaustion and comfort.

Lowering her head and focusing her eyes on Azalea, she gave a loose nod. "Of course. I tried to not do anything that'd permanently hurt you." She forced herself up, then went to touch Azalea's left hand to turn it back to normal.

While Rose gave the two a compliment and spoke to Remi, Remi threw off her human charm. Now she was in her oricenta humanoid form, flapping her brown wings and wiggling her ears to readjust. It was weird, having her clothes shift to accommodate her oricenta body from her human body, but it was damn convenient.

Walking a bit away to break a large branch from a tree and start eating it, Remi gave Rose a nod. "That'd be great. I've been meaning to fight opponents other than my family. But... man!" She bit another piece off of her branch. For a moment, it looked as if Remi was going to give a shout or howl, which she then held back "That felt amazing! I felt like it was a real hunt. A real challenge. My blood is still pumping. It doesn't matter that I feel like passing out."

Then, she went to find her glasses, yet avoided straying too far from the two. She just needed to work out her leftover energy.

Azalea wiggled her fingers tentatively, made a fist, then released it. Satisfied, she tried standing up without her sister, took a wobbly step or two...and decided to sit back down. Azalea watched from the ground as Remi transformed, her only reaction to the change being a warm smile, it was nice to see a new friend already acting so comfortably around her.

Rose, meanwhile, wandered to the tree where both their bags had been left, and came back a minute later with a brown paper bag and a pair of reusable colored-glass water bottles, which were naturally color coded bluish-green and red like so many other things the twins owned. Rose tossed Azalea the bluish bottle, to which Azalea gratefully popped open the lid and started gulping, and offered her own bottle to Remi.

"Want some water Remi? You need this more than me at the moment. Got food here too if you want anything other than tree branches." There was notably no confusion or surprise at Remi eating branches in Rose's voice; she responded as if eating bits of trees made perfect sense and was simply offering other options should they be desired.

Rose sat down by Azalea and reached into the bag, pulling out a small cake made from nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and honey, then placing the bag between the three of them so anyone could grab from it. "Our mothers sent us a care package. Mom's trail cakes are to die for."

After getting her glasses, Remi almost rushed over to Rose for the food and water. If you could compare Remi to anything right now, it would be an excited dog still recovering from a fun day of playing. Even her tail was swaying back and forth faster than one could call relaxed. "Yes! Ilada, I'm so hungry. I shouldn't have used up so much magic."

Remi took two seconds to drink from Rose's bottle, then finished her tree branch first before allowing herself to eat anything else. "Is it, uh, really okay for me to have some? I really appreciate it the offer. I should bring some of my pastries to you guys as repayment."

Rose smiled. "Of course, I offered, didn't I? And you don't have to repay us, though if you choose to share your pastries we will be glad to try them."

Azalea nodded in agreement, but was too busy reaching for a seed cake of her own, which she then quietly chewed with a contended but tired look on her face.

After finishing a mouthful, Azalea looked at Remi with a warm smile, "In fact, you should come over and hang out in our apartment sometime, I'll cook us dinner or something." Azalea's shyness was mostly gone somehow. The sparring match was energizing and something about Remi was vaguely comforting to Azalea, though they couldn't put their finger on it.

"It just feels like the right thing to do. To repay you guys. Where I'm from, friends aren't really expected to pay back each other, but it's still a nice gesture."

Now that she had explicit permission, Remi took some cake for herself. Empathy was not needed to know how Remi was feeling when she got a taste of it. Her cheeks were already a light orange from how happy she was today, but eating something other than branches deepened the orange.

"This is soo good. I'd love to come over. Remi couldn't tell if it was the "command" Azalea gave that made her accept or if she genuinely wanted to go. Remi figured she would have wanted to go if Azalea didn't say she should go. Either way, they seemed trustworthy enough, and it was such a small thing it didn't need to be brought up. That was going to be saved for later. When they knew each other better.

"Maybe I'll show you guys my house someday. It's near here, but, like, not everyone's okay with it being chilly."

"Certainly! We would be honored to be welcomed to your home." Azalea smiled at Remi before taking more gulps from the water bottle.

Rose took a bite of her seedcake. "Aren't they? Both our mothers and Azalea are all somewhat culinarily inclined, and the rest of us certainly don't complain about the lovely food. Oh, and the cold won't be a problem. Our species...or sub-species at least, is pretty accustomed to cold."

Azalea finally stopped gulping down water and took a cake of her own, grinning stupidly with water dripping down her chin. "I have to drink more water than the average person because of the water elemental inheritance. Have to soak in it an hour every day too. Not that I really mind...I love water."

"Ilada! I know right? I have to drink a lot too and go underwater once a day. If I'm too far away from water, I start feeling like shit. Same with the ground too." She made an exaggerated roll of her eyes with a long sigh, then laughed to show it wasn't that big of a deal. "I like water and all too, but it always feels a bit awkward when everyone else here is drinking so little, and I might as well be drowning myself to everyone else."

Being able to vent to friends felt good. It felt great, actually. She had her therapist, but that was a completely different relationship. This may not have been as serious as some of her other problems, but being able to complain about such a minor thing was truly a privilege.

"You don't have to worry about that at my house. We have loads of food and water. Well, cold food, but I can make you something warm real easy."

Azalea nodded sympathetically and giggled a little. "It can be a little inconvenient, yes. And Rosie here has her own unique needs tied to her elemental form."

"I gotta go walking or jogging for an hour every day, and specifically have to be in constant motion for the duration, no stopping or standing still at all. Just like an electrical current." Rose flexed her hand a bit. It sparked with electrical energy slightly as she did, indicating she needed to do just that pretty soon. She'd let Azalea take the duel first because she seemed to be really bonding with Remi, but in truth Rose could have used the adrenaline. She grimaced a little and went about finishing her seedcake.

"We get by just fine though, we've always got each other. Rose bathes with me every day and I walk or run with her." The two exchanged fond smiles for a moment before turning their attention back to their new friend.

Remi's eyes widened at the electrical spark, both out of a quick moment of worry and interest. She trusted oricenta with those sorts of powers to not hurt her, but here, she always had to be careful. Not everyone knew her strengths and weaknesses.

"That's so cute! Reminds me of home, actually. We need to socialize and learn a lot, so we're always in a talking mood and love to teach each other our interests. Like, I could go into a long ramble about all sorts of minerals and their classifications here and be called boring, but everyone else back home would love it." She let out an airy sigh as she reminisced about the better parts of home.

"Oh! Uh, I don't want to cut this short, but I should really get going. This rest helped a lot, but I think I need a long... long nap."

The twins both smiled at being called cute. Rose stood up and reached her arms into the sky, stretching.

"It's fine, really, gotta go jog now anyway...and if Azalea's not too tuckered out from your duel I might even get comp--OW!"
An arcing tendril of energy flickered a moment across Rose's torso, and she clutched her side in pain, grimacing.

Azalea looked to her sister, notably only seeming mildly concerned, as if this was normal. "Let's go sis, just...make it a slow jog for my sake."

Before they left, Azalea fished a scrap of paper and a pen from her bag, quickly scribbling her and Rose's cell phone numbers, and then handed it, along with another seedcake, to Remi.

"Take one more for the road...so to speak. And here, so we can keep in contact."
