This girl sure liked to talk. A lot. Not that Oluremi had any problem with that. Nothing compared to the endless rambles of Béatrice who seemed to have no off button. You could cover her mouth and she would still find a way to talk. The only way you could shut her up was by giving her something to eat, and that was if she was in the mood to be polite enough to not talk and eat. With all of that in mind, Azalea was so short and to the point that Oluremi was thankful. Though that relief may have just been Oluremi's own awkwardness. Conversation was not her forte. When her turn to talk came, she was often the reason the interaction died off, leaving her feeling awkward and ashamed.

Remi tried to not ignore anything Azalea brought up. It was all interesting, even if some of it was irrelevant. "I'm pretty new here too. Only moved here a few months ago, and my family lives in the forest near here. We're all Water elementals, so... yeah... She felt no need to explain further. Water elementals living near a lake and stream seemed obvious enough.

"When I was younger, I mostly stayed near home. I liked to go out and collect rocks and I did my regular hunting, but I, like, stayed inside to sing and dance usually. Spent time with my mom.

"Anyways, sure, I'll keep you on the safer paths. Doubt we'll find any trouble. Anyone hunting out here should know we're sentient, and I have my bracelet." As she began walking, she held up her left hand to Azalea, showing off her bracelet clearly signifying her as a shifter. Not that she had much use for it anymore. She wanted to stay in her human form as much as possible, even if it put her in many disadvantages.

Before Oluremi forgot, she forced herself to say, "Oh, I wanted to ask you something too." It still felt natural to her to ask for something back after giving something. In this case, she was helping Azalea find her sister in a place unfamiliar to her. "Since I came here to train, if you have the time, wanna keep me company? After we find your sister, duh. It's gonna be, like, super boring if I just sat here reading a geology book and, like, turning my hand into metal or something. Having a conversation going on would, like, be way more fun."

Azalea smiled and listened intently to everything Remi said. They nodded their head and kept intermittent eye contact--though anyone paying enough attention might deduce easily enough that they were clearly having to consciously try to keep the right level of eye contact; not too much, not to little, as it didn't come naturally to them.

Azalea looked inquisitively at the bracelet. "Is that something I should know about? Not that I could really wear something like that in pure elemental form..."

The elf paused to once again tuck a flower petal on the edge of the path.

They gave a slightly shy smile at the question of keeping Remi company.

"Sure! Rose was just complaining we don't have any friends here yet, I'm sure she'll be delighted to find me being sociable instead of staying in the apartment all day or meditating in the woods alone."

Azalea's phone buzzed again, and they retrieved it from their pocket, typing back a quick response.

"Rose says she found the first petal I left for her. That was a couple minutes ago, so...she shouldn't be too far behind us."

Emotions: Mildly confused, happy, mildly embarrassed

Remi wondered if there was something on her face based on how Azalea was looking at her, but it must not have been a big deal. Judging by her expression, she seemed to enjoy listening to her. Even with her charm, Oluremi still had some obvious inhuman features. The watery, gemstone look of her orange eyes being one. Her sharp teeth probably did not help either. What most people noticed first were the orange markings on her face. Fortunately, humans who had inhuman traits were so common that Remi did not get too many questions.

Putting her left hand back into her pocket, she shrugged. "It's for shifters. I have, like... have you heard of perytons? Kind of like that. Deer with owl parts. I need to have my bracelet on so, like, people don't think I'm an animal open for killing, or, like, I need to go a pet store. Bracelets shift with you too. Like, since the bracelet is on my left wrist, it'd be on my left foreleg when I shift. You're still new, so, like, the school will give you a rundown of things you need to know here, and you can ask me for help.

Oluremi cut herself off suddenly. She was talking too much. Sure, Azalea spoke a lot earlier, but it felt weird for Oluremi herself to do the same. Maybe that was not so bad though. Remi was trying to get herself out there. She needed to improve her personality, and being her usual brusque self did nothing to help. It could not hurt to keep herself more short and to the point from now on though.

"I'm just relieved that I, like, have a friend my age. I only turned twenty-one last month, but at the M3C, teens usually hang around there, so a lot of my friends ended up in that age." Even her boyfriend was younger than her, though not by much. Remi did not mind befriending people younger than her, but it did make her feel like she was slightly immature. Though, that did bring up an important question. "Wait... you are, like, around my age, right? Mentally? I can't really tell here. Some people, like, go to college early."

Remi slowed her walk until she stopped nearby a tree when Azalea said her sister was nearby. "Let's stop here. Give her some time to catch up."

"Ahhh I see. That's neat actually. I'm glad we don't have to hide who we are here. Back in Ireland, mothers had to use glamours to make their ears look human," Azalea poked the tip of their long pointy ears absently, "and our markings and stuff."

Azalea closed their eyes for a moment, enjoying the quiet, frigid air. Now that they were mostly picking up happiness from Oulremi it was easier to relax, though they did feel the slightest twinge of confusion and embarassment clouding Remi's aura. Were they doing something wrong? Talking too much? Too little? An expression of distant worry crossed Azalea's face as they wondered. Of course, it could just be nervousness form meeting a new person.

"Oh, I'm 103, actually. But um...developmentally that would put me around your age, yeah. The elven tribe I come from matures slowly. Our childhood lasts for 90 years."

At that moment there was an audible crunching of the snow just a few meters behind Azalea and Remi. Azalea turned around and smiled. A girl's voice called out, "There you are Zelly! Who's your friend?"

A girl identical in appearance, height, and stature to Azalea strode into view and caught up with the two of them. She was wearing an outfit that matched perfectly with her sibling's, but her scarf and leggings were a deep crimson, instead of blue-green. Like Azalea, Rose wore a black cotton cord around her neck with a feather, but her feather was pure white instead of gray.

Azalea gave their sister a hug, and said, "Remi, this is my twin sister Rose. Rose, this is Remi. I just met her on my walk. She was going to practice some of her abilities and asked for company."

Rose extended a gloved hand with a playful grin. "A pleasure"

Emotions: Relaxed, happy

"I came from a different dimension, kind of like faes and their Underhill. This is the first time I've been out of Ilada." Manta Carlos was much better than Ilada. She finally felt like she could be herself, even if she felt out of place at the same time.

With her back relaxed on a more smooth part of a tree, she listened to Azalea closely. "Oh, wow. I guess my species age like humans. We're considered adults at twenty-four than eighteen, and we don't really have the same type of puberty, but, eh, close enough." She shrugged. "Point still stands. Nice to have a friend my age. And one older than her too.

Remi turned her head towards the voice as soon as she heard it. There was no need to ask who the stranger was. Maybe it was the way she called Azalea "Zelly," or perhaps the fact they looked nearly the same, both in physical appearance and clothing.

"Heya, Rose. Remi gave a relaxed wave before straightening herself up to give Rose's hand a firm shake.

Emotions: Shocked, confused, hurt(?)

The sudden shock forced Oluremi to lurch her hand back. "Yeouch! What the—" She rubbed her hand before looking at it. There was no sign of there being damage, and her magic did not try to heal her. Was Oluremi just a bringer of bad luck to herself? Or this was payback for her collision with Azalea and how she was the one who came out completely okay. Remi did not believe that this was payback, but it sure felt like it. With a grimace, Remi rubbed her hand against her hip as if the shock was still there.

Azalea visibly winced as Remi's emotions shifted suddenly, then cast a disapproving glance at their sister.

Rose looked genuinely upset with herself. The playful grin she started out with vanished. "aw hell, sorry about that. I'm always forgetting I tend to do that. I swear it wasn't on purpose. I uh...my body does weird things with electricity."

Azalea cut in and finished Rose's thought, rubbing their forehead. "It's the worst the first time around. If Rosie ever bumps into you or touches you somehow again, it won't hurt as much. And then even less the third time...and so on. Your body gets used to her body's weirdness if you're around her long enough. Doesn't make for great first impressions if she goes around shaking everyone's hand without thinking."

Azalea was glaring at Rose at this point. Rose's face was plastered with a guilty smile, hands firmly lodged in her skirt pockets. After a few moments of awkward silence Rose suddenly blurted out what was probably supposed to be a tension-cutting remark.

"But hey, if your heart ever stops for some reason, I can re-start it with my hands!"

Was that a weird thing to say to someone she just met? Probably...oh well, too late now.

Emotions: Slightly uncomfortable, embarrassed

Remi tentatively raised the hand that was shocked in an attempt to reassure Azalea and Rose that she was alright. "N-No... it's fine... That was just... wow..." The shock was unfamiliar to her. She knew how static shock felt, but it had been a long time since she experienced something like that, and Rose's was way worse.

"By the way, electricity doesn't work well with water. Oh, yeah... you don't know. Oluremi was embarrassed to think that because they were twins, Rose knew what Azalea knew. "I'm a Water elemental, by the way. If my heart stops, uh, I... don't think it'd work out? I just turn into a rock when I die. Don't know if you'd be fast enough for that... or if electricity would quicken my death." She gave a nervous laugh. Her ramble was supposed to help better the situation, but it must have made it weirder.

"Sooo... I was just out here trying to work on my powers. I already asked Azalea for company. We can chat while I work things out."

Rose nodded in understanding. "Ahhhhh, no wonder you two get along. And funny you should mention water and electricity...it works out great for us. Azalea's the only one who my shocks never hurt. But I guess these things are a little different for everyone."

"And besides," Azalea picked up, finishing Rose's thought again, "We were born as elves. Our elemental heritage colors how our bodies work, and allows us to take a purely elemental form if we will it, but I imagine our elemental-ness is a bit more...diluted? Than yours, Remi."

Azalea and Rose listened and nodded as Remi reiterated her desire to practice her abilities.

"By all means," Azalea began

"Lead the way," Rose finished.

Emotions: Interested, slightly tense

"You two are siblings. I can, like, understand why the shock wouldn't work." Part of that was a lie. If it worked like back home, the other sibling would be hurt unless they also had lightning abilities. Remi could still see the logic behind why they did not hurt each other, however.

She perked up a bit at the mention of them being elves. Remi could already figure that out based on the ears, but she was never certain of someone's species until she was told. "Oh, so you're, like, faes or something?" They sure did not act like faes, but it was good to know, just in case.

Remi did not stray too far from where they were previously. She kept to a safe and quiet area safe from any predators or passersby around. She sat down against a tree and opened up her book on different minerals. "Not going to lie, I'm, like, not too sure where to start. Sitting around reading would be pretty boring, but I need some actual practice too." She was unsure if she was speaking to herself or the twins, but either way, it helped her gather her thoughts. The next thing she said was unquestionably directed at the twins. "Have, like, any ideas? Not sure if you guys are up for sparring or, like, whatever. Could do something else so it doesn't get boring."

"Yes we are, or at least..." Azalea began, to respond to Remi's question about them being fae

"A little bit," Rose said, continuing Azalea's thought, "meaning we're about 90% fae and 10% elemental, speaking in terms of bloodlines or genes or what have you. True fae the way most people think of them are like...our great great great grandparents."

"Plus a lot more 'greats'." Azalea added.

"As for your practice, we're happy to assist in whatever way would help the most." Rose responded, right before she clambered up a tree to sit on a sturdy low branch.

Azalea sat on the ground and leaned against the base of the tree Rose had just climbed up. "Aye, whatever works for you. Mother taught us swordplay and hand-to-hand combat, and mother taught us to control and use our magics, so you won't want for sparring partners with us if that's what you'd like...otherwise, sitting and reading is fine. I came out here to relax anyway."

After a slight, possibly awkward pause, Azalea spoke again.

"And um...I suppose I should tell you, just so you know, I'm an empath. I can sort of...feel people's emotions. It's not something I do on purpose, and I can't turn it off, though I can reign it in to a degree and distract myself...but um...anyway...I can only sense surface emotions, and I can't read thoughts, so you don't have to worry about um...like, me accidentally hearing some deep dark secret or...something. I just...thought you should know, if we're going to hang out. I hope it's okay..."

Azalea was looking askance at this point, and visibly blushing.

((I'll try this color text thing since I have more than one character in the same scene; maybe it'll make it less confusing for you? Purple=rose, aqua=azalea))
