By a hill in the woods

A thirty minute walk or so from the edge of the lake straight into the woods would reveal a steep hillside. By its foot would be the remains of a campfire, next to a stone big enough to sit comfortably on. A short distance away, alongside the hillside, would be a pile of hides, seemingly for sleeping on. On the ground surrounding the camp lay splinters and chips of wood and of small bones. Between two trees growing on the hill itself, a clothesline is tied. On it, two white T-shirts hang. The camp is well sheltered from weather, and it seems very tranquil. It is deserted at the moment, though.

The girl walked the forest, taking in its sights. She may have looked lost if not for the calm demeanour of her person. Her clothing was loose and light, certainly not fit for the forest. In general, she looked like a city girl. One who had never so much as camped. Then, looks were deceiving on Manta Carlos.

It wasn't long before Cecily came upon the camp. Her head canted; it was a very bird-like motion. Doll Girl blinked twice before she leaned down and pinched a splinter of bone between her forefinger and thumb. She dropped it once she had properly inspected it and headed over to the shirts, touching them.

A minute later, Alexander would arrive, walking with no hurry whatsoever, carrying a bunch of branches. Firewood, it would seem. He reached almost the center of the campsite before noticing the guest. He dropped the bundle of branches in almost excessive surprise. He looked almost scared. His right hand moved to his nose briefly, as if to make sure it was still attatched.

Cecily looked over her shoulder when she heard the crash of sticks against the surface of the ground. She stood eerily still for a second, before drifting over to him to gather the firewood up in her arms and hold it out to him. "It did not mean to frighten," she said.

Doll Girl wasn't sure what else to say. She had been somewhat curious about the campsite. Her curiosity hadn't stemmed from anything, in particular, it just was.

Alex stepped back first, as if not sure if he believed his eyes. But he soon regained some composure, and assisted her in picking up the branches, mumbling his thanks in the process.

"I... uh, I didn't expect to see someone in my camp, is all..." He scratches the back of his nose as he proceeds to put the bundle of firewood next to the fireplace. "Can I help you with anything? You don't... look like a forest dweller."

"This one does not dwell in the forest, no. It is only visiting. It is not lost," she said this as though someone had suggested she was recently. Doll Girl made herself at home on the large stone, sitting completely straight as she watched the man. "You look like you dwell in the forest. Why do you dwell in the forest?" Beyond that, Cecily couldn't determine what this man looked like.

"What is the forest dweller?" she asked, jumbling the words more than she should have. But then, her speech was always just a little stunted, right there in the creepy valley.

"The reason is that I'm no good with crowds, frankly. I have been wandering most of my life... it's not like I dislike civilization, though, I do quite like it. It's just the crowds." He would look around briefly, sniffing the air. "And I'm just a guy with no food or anything to offer his guest. If you'd like, I could get started on making some tea water. Name's Alexander by the way." He'd then sit down on the pile of fur and dig out a backpack from under it. From said backback, he'd produce a simple kettle.

"It is nice to meet Alexander. He may call it Cecily or Doll Girl." She watched as he pulled the kettle from his backpack. "This one has no need for food or drink, but it likes tea, anyway. Does he make the tea with flowers? It has heard some people make their tea with flowers. How does flower tea, taste?"

Alex would raise an eyebrow at the word 'it', but he chose not to comment. He instead brought the kettle to the fireplace, which he began lighting. "Years ago, I did try making my own tea with herbs I found, but I found I have no talent for it. No, tea is one of the few things I do buy in stores. I have some blueberry and some earl grey left, I believe." He had during this speech lit the fire, and thus stood up. "You're okay with lake water, I hope? It seemed fresh enough to me."

Cecily nodded, having no preference from lake water to normal water, or to the different types of tea, for that matter. She had no taste and, therefore, cared none. "Where has Alexander come from? Has he been in Manta Carlos for a long time?"

Doll Girl stood and moved to the fire, staring at it closely. She seemed fascinated by it. She had seen plenty of fire, but she liked it nonetheless. She could become enthralled with nearly any mundane thing.
