"Just like that?" he'd raise and eyebrow and grunt grumpily, "wasn't just like that, spent most of my life with uncertainty, that's just damn normal for most." He'd look her up and down. "I still don't really know my purpose I guess, that's why we look."

"Eh, loving fighting doesn't make you shallow, I like fighting," he'd scratch at his chin. "It isn't as liking combat defines you, if you like fighting then find something to fight for." At the moment he'd fight for himself and his friends.

"Luna," he'd repeat the name with a hum. "That's one of the human names for their moon right?" He'd tilt his head when she bowed to him, "Xeros, my name is Xeros."

"Ah, I do apologize, I seem to have misunderstood. Nonetheless, it is still admirable that you're able to get where you are. I believe to some extent, everyone is still searching. Some for happiness, some for purpose, some for things I cannot comprehend."

I like fighting

Oh? That was interesting, she had never quite met anyone who enjoyed the brutality of fighting. Curiosity intensified in her gaze as she enquired "You like fighting too? What did you fight for previously... if you don't mind me asking."

"Indeed. A woman who I suppose is something like a mother to me named me that. I only recently found out about its meaning as I studied the complexity of language at Starlight Academy."
His name rolled smoothly off the tip of her tongue as she repeated it. "It's quite a unique name. Was there anyone in particular who gave it to you?"

"Oh, this and that," he'd say when asked what he fought for, "fought for whatever was necessary." A vague answer, but he didn't know this girl, he wasn't going to tell someone he'd just met about his rather violent past.

"What about you?" he'd ask, expecting a vague answer in return. "What did you fight for?...and what are you fighting for now?"

He'd hum in thought. "My mother named me," she was long dead, but he remembered her fondly. "It's from an alien language," it and English had been the languages he'd grown up with.

What did you fight for?...and what are you fighting for now?

“Me?” Luna took a slight step back, idly shifting her weight to her right leg as she relaxed her posture. “I believe I’m still unsure. I had many things to fight for in the past which I no longer have. As for now, I’m trying to appreciate the more tranquil part of life.” She glanced down as she reminisced in her memories of venturing into the gardens and forest for a short moment before she continued. “Of course, I still train as it eases my conscious but sometimes it really does feel nice to appreciate what’s around me, especially on this island where there are so many new things.”

Looking back up, she then enquired: “your mother named you? What was she like, if you don’t mind me asking.”

"Tranquil," he'd say with a thoughtful him. "Suppose I haven't seen a lot of tranquility," the top of his tail would sway a bit. "I've seen a lot of fighting, very little tranquility, maybe I will once this damn winter ends."

The half alien looked her over. "And what kind of training do you do?" he'd ask curiously. "You look fit and strong," also attractive bit he wasn't going to say that just yet.

"My mother?" he'd pause a moment, thinking a bit. "She was kind, a sweet person," he'd scratch at his cheek. "She often tried to stay positive, even when things were hard on her."

”Spring. Spring comes after winter... I think. Changing seasons are a fickle thing that I myself haven't gotten used to. The first spring I experienced was absolutely breathtaking. I can't quite put it into words but there's green everywhere. Flowers come to full bloom, forests are sheathed with a plush canopy and the skies clear out." A pause. "It's a little bit like the exact opposite of fighting." Another pause. "Like rebirth."

And what kind of training do you do?

"Well, a little bit of everything. I'm not the kind who heavily relies on raw physical strength hence I try to improve my magical capabilities and stamina. Actually, you seem like the fit type as well, am I mistaken?"

It was interesting, really. Everyone had different ideas and experiences on what family was like. Luna simply assumed that family was someone who you addressed as "mother" or "father" but it seemed to be so much deeper than that. "This is... intriguing. I wish to understand more about what family is supposed to be like. Do you happen to know any books that have a good explanation? I have already have found one that teaches me how to increase my social awareness." she said as she gestured to the book beneath her arm.

He'd listen to her describe spring, tilting her head, his ears twitching slightly. "It does sound better than this winter, much warmer." He'd hum in thought. "A season of rebirth sounds interesting, you are good at describing things."

"You are not mistaken," he'd say with a nod. "I don't know anything with magic, but fighting and physical activity is something I'm very good at," he'd tilt his head. "Do you.....ever spar with anyone?"

He'd shake his head. "Afraid I don't, but there is the academy," he'd suggest. "From what I've heard it has a lot of classes, they might have classes dealing with family."

”Me? Good at describing things?” The girl’s lips curled into a soft smile as she let out a bashful chuckle. “Oh no, language is not my forte. There’s so many more things I have yet to learn.”

Luna thought back to when she first arrived. She did have one or two sparring sessions but nothing too intense. It was a little embarrassing after all - she somehow seemed like an entirely different person whilst she fought. Thriving in her element had unexplainably tainted the words escaping her mouth. Not in a bad way, but in an oddly teasing manner.

“Well, here and there I’d spar with someone but I’m not a huge fan on the whole talking to people and asking them to fight me so it’s hard to find a partner to spar with. Say, would you like to have a friendly duel with me sometime soon?

Classes that taught about family huh. Well, as of late her timetable had been filled with all the mundane and boring subjects; there was no harm for a little enlightenment in her schedule. “Thank you, I’ll be sure to check it out when I get back.”

He'd tilt his head. "Your descriptions of spring match what I've read about it," which admittedly wasn't all that much. "Maybe you're better than you think," he was enjoying this conversation, even if some would count slightly odd.

Xeros would consider her question for a moment. "I would," he'd nod, "is there a place where we could do that inside?" It was to cold for him to properly outside, "a training somewhere?"

The half alien would remove another book from the shelf, letting his tail hold it. "Do you live at the academy?" he'd ask, remembering hearing that the academy offered housing for their students.

"I'm not sure if I'm allowed to bring visitors into the school but there is a few sparring rooms near the gym. I doubt it would be a problem if we used them. They're usually vacant anyway." The girl made a mental note to familiarize herself with the rules once she got back.

"Yes, I do stay at the dorms but currently, don't have any roommates. It's a very beautiful place, spacious even." Her glow simmered ever so slightly. "But I guess you can say it get's a little boring sometimes. Perhaps one could even classify it as lonely." The girl hummed lightly as she continued "Well, how about yourself? Do you reside here in the city? What does your daily routine consist of if it doesn't involve schooling?"
