Xeros stood, a thick and long coat under one arm, his eyes looking over the books in front of him. The bookstore had adequate heating for him, enough to where he didn't need his annoying coat as he looked through the options.

His desire for more information on human culture had led him to the shop, he was told it was quite useful. Taking one of the books from the shelf he'd carefully examine it, his tail slowly swaying behind him.

Deciding against that particular book the half alien would place it back on the shelf. He'd move a little further down, he wasn't quite certain what he was looking for.

Luna wanted, no, needed to learn. Though it's been a while since she enrolled in starlight academy, interacting with people still proved to be an issue. Perhaps it was simply due to the way she was brought up but she knew better than to accept the situation as it is. Thus she decided to pay a little visit to the nearby book store hoping that she'd find something that would help.

Stepping into the store, the girl was instantly immersed into a foreign calm, tranquil atmosphere. The soft fragrance of books encapsulated the area, serving as a soothing aroma for all who came and went. Taking in a slow inhale, Luna took a cautious step forward, as she appreciated the peaceful serenity - a welcome change compared to fighting arenas. That being said, this soft-spoken girl had just one complaint. It was dark. Her surroundings were barely brighter than the natural glow she emitted and while she could still make out the words in the books if she stared hard enough, she wasn't quite able to see past her hands.

Nonetheless, Luna wandered through the aisles as she slowly but surely lost track of time. Eventually, she found herself exploring a small, dim corner of the store where most self-help books could be found. Out of the corner of her (very limited) vision, she zoomed in on a single hardcover book. It seemed to gleam amidst the shadowy backdrop, enabling her to spot that well-embellished book from afar. Silver spirals adorned the corners of its spine, giving it a metallic, expensive-looking exterior. Picking up the pace, she broke into a little jog before bumping into someone.

Letting out a soft yelp of surprise, Luna glanced upward to see what seemed like an orange male alien? She wasn't quite sure what exactly he was but what mattered was that she practically crashed into him. Brushing off the creases and folds in her clothes, she quickly pressed the hem of her dress down as she bowed in apology. As she spoke, her voice came off a little shaky though her words were articulated clearly.

"I do apologize sir, I didn't see you standing there as it was... dark. Please, pardon me."

He'd take a single step back when ran into, almost immediately regaining his balance. The orange man would squint at the girl, his nose picking up her strange scent. "Isn't that dark," he'd say, raising an eyebrow, "you should be able to see fine."

Xeros's tail would twitch ever so slightly. "Why were you in a hurry anyways?" he'd ask with a snort, "it's a book store, the books aren't going to run away."

The man's yellow and black eyes would look her over, mildly curious about the odd girl. He hadn't met many people on the island yet.

She peered up to the taller male for a few moments to observe. Going meerly by what she knew, he seemed like he would be considered by most as a rather attractive type - angular cheekbones, defined jawline and obsidian pupils that gleamed with enigmatic mystery. Regaining her impassive composure, she relaxed her posture as she spoke in a rather languid and emotionless tone. "I'm afraid I don't see very well in dim lighting. I was merely excited as I saw a book shimmer in the darkness right over there." Raising her hand, she faced her palm upward as she swiftly gestured toward the object that caught her attention earlier on.

"I do apologize again, it was not my intention to run into you." Pausing, she couldn't help but be a little intrigued by the alien before her, shown through her intensifying radiance. "By any chance, do you happen to be familiar with this bookstore? I seem to be having... trouble with finding a book to suit my needs and all the staff happen to be out of my visual range."

His sharp eyes glanced upward at the book she was gesturing to. "Should keep a light with you," with a grumpy grunt his tail would snatch the book from the shelf and offer it to her.

The half alien would squint a bit at the radiance coming from the girl and then snorted. "I'm not familiar with this island....let alone this store," his tail would wrap around his waist like a belt. "The winter weather is unpleasant, the snow is cursed."

Xeros would glance around at the book store. "Though....these bookstores are nice, they even sometimes have information the databases on the space station doesn't."

"I have an array of light manipulation abilities thus I don't find much use in keeping a light around." Sparring a rather redundant glance around her, she then continued: "Besides, it would be an inconvenience if I were to light up the store to a level I'm comfortable with."

A subtle yet genuine smile donned on her face as she took the book into her hands. Turning her attention back to the male, she said her thanks as idly held the book by her side. "I presume you aren't a fan of the cold then. Did the place you come from have a very warm climate?"

It was oddly comforting to meet someone who was as alien as herself. Luna wasn't sure what prompted to continue speaking but she supposed there was no harm in sharing a little more about herself. "I too share that sentiment. There were no cozy bookstore where I came from. I'm beginning to learn that knowledge can be a form of power as supposed to raw strength."

"You need light to see, yet don't create the light even when you can," he'd click his tongue, "odd, walking with impaired vision sounds unpleasant, almost as if you make things hard on yoursel....on purpose." He'd look at her, tilting his head, his eyes showing a spark of curiosity. "You seem odd in general," the tip of his tail would tap on his side as he thought, "an odd glowy girl, who bumps into strangers."

He'd snort and half laughed at her question. "I was born on a space station girl," he'd take another book from the shelf, "I could walk and talk before I ever felt a natural climate."

"And where does the odd glowing girl come from?" he'd ask, raising an eyebrow, "hopefully not somewhere dark." He'd snort, "then again....the stars are surrounded by darkness."

Well, Luna could tell that he might come off as slightly intimidating but somehow, that made her all the more curious. Arching her back, she rolled her shoulders back as her arms rested idly by her side. "It's not that I'm trying to make things hard but I'd just rather not draw too much attention to myself. After all, I doubt the other customers would want to have a blinding light source in the store." Pausing, she yet again proceeded to observe the other before continuing: "I suppose I am odd, however, I could say the same thing about you. It's very interesting to meet someone quite so out of the ordinary such as yourself."

Luna was shocked to say the least; it seemed that she and he had similar beginnings. There were moments throughout her life where she wanted to find out where she'd come from but these questions never really bugged her enough for her to actively search for answers. In the end, the girl simply accepted her existence as it was.

Once again, she noticed how peculiar this stranger was. His choice of words about stars and darkness felt almost poetic and not exactly something you'd hear every day. "Well, I came from light. I'm not sure how I came about actually but I do remember that right after I was created, I was put to fight." Tilting her head, she went thoughtfully paused for a few seconds "Perhaps I was built to fight." Stepping in just a little closer, she locked her gaze onto his obsidian pupils.

"How about you? What was the purpose of your existence?"

"Purpose?" he'd half laugh at that, a bitter sort of laugh. "Didn't have one....someone tried to tell if was to serve, but I didn't like that idea, as for now," he'd shrug. I'm just around, going about things. Maybe you should find a purpose you like, instead of wondering if you were created for one," he'd suggest, passing his book to his tail to hold.

He'd look at her a moment, his eyes running over her curiously before leaning in close and quickly sniffing the air around her. "You don't smell like anything I've ever smelt," he'd lean back with a thoughtful hum.

"You are odd, but I suppose you have a good look about you," he'd say, snoring and flipping through a book. "You got a name?"

"Find my own purpose huh" she whispered under her breath, more to herself than anyone else. Indeed, it was still something that she seemed to struggle with but not outwardly so. "It's admirable you seem to have control over your life just like that. I guess letting things of the past go is not as easy as I originally thought." After a short pause, she then continued. "I did love fighting." Another pause. "I loved the thrill of it, the praise, the adoration." Silence.

"I suppose you could say I'm shallow that way."

The girl didn't know why she seemed to be saying all this to someone she just met but true enough, it was a fact and there was no harm in sharing. "The name's Luna." she said as she tilted her head downwards in a slight bow. "And what is yours?"
