She... hadn't heard of the space station? Havoc stared for several long moments, wondering if this was a practical joke.
"No," Havoc said, deciding it probably wasn't. "It isn't a joke. There is a real space station."
How had she missed it? How had she not noticed? Havoc was having a hard time deciding if Cerra or Milk was more confusing, but at least Milk was significantly less hostile.
"I want to make self defense more accessible to all students," Havoc said, rephrasing his earlier point. "Being on the council would give me access to the student council's funds, which would make it possibility. Otherwise, the lessons would only be open to those who could already afford them."
And he wanted actual instructors, not just students who were around to help.
"It would also look good on a resume," Havoc said a shade too honestly.

Milk blinked. She never would have thought it possible to actually live in space. What a world we live in, she mused, throwing the leftover part of her onion into a nearby trash can.
"That is an admirable goal." She stated, nodding. "How would you go about finding instructors for these classes? Most of the physical education staff can fight, yes, but not many are used to giving lessons."
Milk on the other hand already gave self defense lessons. She idly mused that she hadn't seen Lochlann in a while. He needed to continue his lessons, he was too frail as it was.
Maybe Havoc would like a spar, he seemed like a competent person.
Maybe he'd even give Milk a challenge.

"I would specifically hire those qualified," Havoc pointed out. "I assume the school would have some kind of a process for screening, and would be able to find those who would be best suited for the job. Normal self defense might not take into account the things people would be expected to know on the island, like traditional weaknesses for various species whose capabilities go past human norms."
And a variety of other issues that might pop up. What if the person trying to grab you started by leashing you with a power cancelling bracelet? There were so many possibilities, so many risks and options.
"It's important to find not just those well trained in self defense, but also those who can teach as well."

Milk nodded. That made perfect sense in her eyes. She quite hoped Havoc would be able to make this a reality. She may even apply. It would be nice to have students who listened to her, anyway.
"I would be interested in seeing if you would be able to pull that off. It would be nice to have students who would actually want to train." She said, glancing at the posters once more.
"How does voting work?" She asked, rather bluntly.

Havoc... didn't know. He actually had no idea how the voting process worked in detail. He'd never attended the election, so he knew only the general way things would go.
"Students each get a vote for who they feel should be president," Havoc said. "They'll vote on the twenty sixth in the morning, and the winner will be announced later that day. We're expecting to campaign in the week leading up to the event to convince people to vote for us."
Havoc thought he had a pretty good chance. Based on what everyone was saying, it was him or Emily for president, and Emily... well, she was the popular girl. In some ways that would help her, and in others it would be a mark against her.
Some people hated popular people.

Milk nodded, thinking. "I see. Are you winning? I do not know who else is running."
Well, that was stating the obvious. Milk would not know anyone running had she not bumped into Havoc here. Though, maybe it was for the better. She was certainly learning a lot. Not only about the election, but about her home in general.
Who knew that if you ran for some form of office you got told about a space station.
She must have missed quite a bit on her training sabbatical. She'd have to ask Murphy more about some of this.

"It won't be clear who is winning until the election is over, but yes, I was told that myself and another student are in the running to be president." By a significant margin, if rumors were to be told. It wasn't all that surprising - it was popular student versus student focusing on the issues, and who people would vote for tended to be decided less by who they were, and more by which of the two categories they fell into.
"I have hopes I'll win, but I won't know for a while. I do, however, need to get these posters up," Havoc said, turning back to the photocopier and starting to gather up the stacks of paper. There were twice as many as there should have been since he was doing posters for two, but it wasn't as if Havoc was overburdened with paper.

Milk moved to the table and began to assist him with organizing his papers. She could tell that they were for two people, as they were different from each other. It made it much easier to separate them.
"I believe that you will be victorious. Your...platform?" She paused, thinking and making sure she used the right word. "Yes, Platform, is clearly superior. Is there anything you would like me to assist you with?"
Milk cocked her head to the side, genuinely curious if she would be able to help.

Havoc wasn't sure how much of a vote of confidence it was, considering it was coming from someone who didn't even know the space station existed, but Havoc decided to act like it was anyway, giving her a small nod.
"Thank you very much," he said. "I think I have everything."
He didn't think he would need any faculty help, but he wasn't against the idea of it either. If it came up, he'd be sure to approach someone--either Milk or another teacher--and get it.
He had no pride that was going to get in the way of his campaign, after all.
With his goodbyes said, Havoc made sure to collect up all the posters, not leaving any in the scanner, and then headed on his way.
