Sunday morning and Liliana, who had actively spent the night before looking at her mother's old cookbooks and recipes, padded quietly into the sunlight kitchen in her rainbow unicorn onesie, complete with fuzzy ears, a sparkly horn and rainbow tail, and her pink fluffy slippers. She was quite determined to make her favourite breakfast food - pancakes. And not just any old pancakes, she was going to try to make blueberry banana pancakes.
As she entered the kitchen, cookbook in hand, she began to gather all the ingredients necessary together, placing each one on the island - flour, sugar, eggs, milk, oil, and baking powder along with two bananas and some blueberries. Then she grabbed a bowl to mix everything together.
Everything seemed pretty straight forward, and so the young - and somewhat naive - psychopomp, determined to prove that she could cook, and surprise her roommates with breakfast in the process, began measuring out all the ingredients into the bowl. First the milk, then the eggs, sugar, baking powder and flour. Then she took out the hand mixer and turned it on.
"Oh noo!" she cried out alarmed as flour started flying everywhere, including into her eyes and nose. "No, no, noo..." Liliana panicked as she dropped the beaters down on the counter, but forgot to turn them off, causing the appliance to whir along the granite top and then fall off with a loud thud to the floor while catching the carton of milk along the way, spilling it all over the floor of the kitchen.
